Chapter 66

Beili gave Lance a merciless roll of her eyes, turning away to ignore him.

Aside from the Blind Youth who had ‘fallen asleep’ by the grill, everyone else sat around the fire for a while.

Those who had eaten the mutton more or less showed signs of drowsiness on their faces.

Lisa and Aili were the first to give in. They leaned against each other, eyes half-closed, nearly fast asleep.

Beili opened another tent and let them go inside to sleep.

Susanna watched with her round, pale eyes, her brow furrowing slightly as if she were agonizing over whether the tent could accommodate four people at once.

“You should go in and rest too, Susanna,” Beili told her.

Susanna blinked and asked, “Sister Bartholomew, what about you?”

“I’m not sleepy at all,” she replied in a flat tone, then waved Susanna off. “Go on in.”

Hearing Sister Bartholomew say this, Susanna suddenly felt that she wasn’t as cold and overbearing as she had imagined.

Susanna nodded.

Just as she was about to enter the tent, she thought of something. She pursed her pink lower lip and leaned in close to her sister, whispering, “Sister Bartholomew, I just realized… what’s different about this closing Hunt Banquet compared to previous years is-”

“The princes of all three kingdoms are participating in this closing Hunt Banquet.”

…

It was still dark and silent.

On the grass, two small clusters of fire flickered irregularly. The crimson flames, tinged with orange at the edges, cast a faint glow into the surroundings.

A closing Hunt Banquet where the princes of all three kingdoms were participating.

Gazing at the fire as it fluctuated in size, Beili pondered the information Susanna had shared with her.

Could it be that the accidents occurring during this closing Hunt Banquet were entirely orchestrated by the royal families of Sainthos, Nauze, and Tilisha behind the scenes?

It wasn’t impossible.

They appeared to coexist peacefully, even placing their respective princes on the same island to receive the same magical education resources.

Could three such kingdoms truly live in peace without any overt or covert power struggles?

If they didn’t want to lose face or expend the wealth, resources, and energy required to start a war, yet still wanted to determine who was strongest among the nations…

Then throwing the future heirs of those kingdoms into a Killing Game organized by the Academy, letting them fight for victory without the world realizing…

That seemed like a viable method for the three kingdoms.

It just sounded… too insane.

But on this Western fantasy continent, Killing Games of various sizes were already a staple of banquets and balls.

The Noble class took pleasure in them and were willing to open their purses to place bets.

Against such a background, it became reasonable to secretly turn the Holy Island Academy’s closing Hunt Banquet into a game of competition between nations.

Beili lifted her red eyes.

She silently glanced at Cyril, the black-haired, purple-eyed Prince of Sainthos, who was sitting across the fire keeping watch with her.

Under the premise that the three kingdoms’ powers were balanced.

If one kingdom suddenly produced an exceptionally outstanding heir.

One who not only possessed noble blood, a meticulous mind, and superior learning abilities, but also sufficient ambition.

One who not only crushed the heirs of other nations in every aspect but also grew stronger day by day as time passed…

…

Shaking her somewhat tired and drowsy head.

Cyril suddenly saw Bartholomew staring at him thoughtfully from across the fire.

“Bartholomew, what are you looking at?”

He narrowed his purple eyes and asked in a cold voice.

Beili withdrew her gaze and made up a random excuse.

“Nothing… I was just spacing out.”

Cyril gave a cold snort, clearly knowing she was making an excuse.

But that was only her deduction, after all; there wasn’t a shred of evidence to support it.

Perhaps it really was just a case of Holy Island Academy being careless and purchasing a few defective Defensive Magic Pendants, and it just so happened that a problem occurred, cutting off the connection between the Academy and the Hunt Feast grounds.

She could only wait for the third night.

If they weren’t teleported away as Susanna had said they would be, then her wild theory might actually be true.

…

At that moment.

On the grass shrouded in darkness, the further of the two fires gradually weakened and then went out.

The grill, the toolbox, the cold meat and bones, and the youth in white on the ground were all swallowed by the impenetrable darkness.

Beili happened to glance over, and her eyelids jumped as she snapped to her feet from the grass.

“That was the fire Lance summoned, wasn’t it?”

Cyril followed her gaze, his straight lips curling as he said, “It’s normal for the fires he summons to show this kind of instability.”

“You don’t need to worry about that blind guy either. Whether there’s light or not is the same to him,”

He spoke without emotion, then looked up to see Bartholomew suddenly stride toward that direction.

“Where are you going?” he asked.

“Your Highness, I’m going to act on my own for a bit.”

The gray-haired, red-eyed girl hurriedly tossed back a reply. Then, she threw on her Invisibility Cloak, instantly performed a Beast Transformation into a butterfly, and vanished into the darkness.
