The Beta Side Character - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
“I, I-”
Zhu Xingyao tried to say something, but the memories of his humiliation flooded back, plunging him into agony once more.
He struggled and wept incessantly in my arms.
“They’re all dead. No one will ever bully you again.”
I held him, one hand gently covering his tearful eyes, whispering the words into his ear over and over.
Beneath my palm, tears continued to bloom like flowers, but they gradually slowed before finally ceasing.
I lowered my hand, and the moonlight reflected in his eyes.
“They’re all dead,” Zhu Xingyao murmured.
“Yes, they’re all dead.”
The moon shattered, the factory collapsed, and this dreamscape was broken.
We fell into a second dream.
Zhu Xingyao stood before me, his understated yet exquisite clothes still intact and tidy.
I scanned the surroundings; this was a hotel room on Exile Star.
Standing in front of Zhu Xingyao was Cret, the servant who had betrayed him and sold him out to interstellar pirates.
Cret couldn’t see me because this was Zhu Xingyao’s dream.
Cret was smiling at Zhu Xingyao, saying, “Young Master, private flight is prohibited on Exile Star. I’ve contacted a factory owner and rented his cargo ship. Although it’s for freight, the interior is very clean. I hope you won’t find it beneath you.”
Zhu Xingyao remained silent for a long time.
As I approached him, I could feel him breathing heavily.
“If only I hadn’t listened to him back then… if only I hadn’t stepped onto that ship.”
I heard Zhu Xingyao whispering to himself mechanically.
Cret was still smiling, but the contempt and hatred he had originally hidden in his eyes became increasingly obvious, so much so that the expression on his entire face grew distorted.
Zhu Xingyao’s eyes reddened, and tears welled up again.
He rushed forward, grabbing Chris by the collar and shouting, “Why did you do this to me?! I never did anything to hurt you!”
But despite his desperate shaking, Chris remained motionless, still laughing wildly.
Zhu Xingyao was on the verge of a breakdown.
I raised my hand, and Chris’s body flew backward with a whoosh, slamming into the wall.
The force was so great that half his body was embedded in the wall, and he spat out blood.
“Does that feel better?” I asked, holding the still-gasping Zhu Xingyao.
Zhu Xingyao didn’t answer.
I raised my hand again, and Chris’s limbs were snapped, twisted in bizarre directions.
“How about this?” I asked again.
Zhu Xingyao still didn’t answer.
With a wave of my hand, Chris was thrown out like a piece of trash, shattering the glass and falling from dozens of stories up.
The wind rushed in, drying the tear tracks on Zhu Xingyao’s face.
“It’s too late. It’s useless.”
I heard him say.
The dream collapsed again.
We fell into a third dream.
This was the Zhu Family Manor.
We were in Zhu Xingyao’s bedroom.
Zhu Xingyao’s clothes were in disarray, and the blood from a gruesome wound on the back of his neck stained the back of his shirt, but he seemed completely indifferent to it.
The sound of fireworks echoed from outside the window. I caught a glimpse-a banquet was being held outside.
The bedroom door was pushed open.
A man with sharp, handsome features and a crisp military uniform walked in. It was Jiang Chi.
Zhu Xingyao urgently stepped forward to take his hand, but he was shoved away.
Jiang Chi frowned, his voice dripping with disgust. “You’ve been taken by who knows how many Alphas, and you still want to marry me?”
Zhu Xingyao only wept and shook his head, clinging to Jiang Chi’s leg.
But Jiang Chi kicked him away and turned to leave.
Just as I was about to make Jiang Chi come back and kneel, Zhu Xingyao stood up, his face devoid of emotion.
