I squeezed my eyes shut, afraid that Zhuo Yuan would once again sense my resentment.

“Jing Chun…”

I slowly opened my eyes and looked around. Meng Po’s form was already beginning to fade.

“Zhuo Yuan, please, save Granny.”

Zhuo Yuan used a bit of magic to stabilize Meng Po’s form. He took out a brocade pouch and tossed it to Panguan. “This pill, three times a day. In three days, whether she lives or dies depends on her own fate.”

A sudden pain stabbed through my heart.

Meng Po lay on the ground, her eyes staring at me, utterly lifeless. She muttered, “Qing Wu, don’t go to the Immortal Realm… don’t go…”

Zhuo Yuan picked me up and flew to the gates of the Underworld. Ox-Head and Horse-Face were coaxing the tantrum-throwing Le You.

Most of the Red Spider Lilies outside the Underworld had been destroyed, and Le You was stomping back and forth on them.

As soon as she saw Zhuo Yuan, Le You ran over happily. “Zhuo Yuan, what took you so long? We’re almost late for the Mother Goddess’s birthday banquet!

“Zhuo Yuan, did you get the Flower of Hell? Mother Goddess…”

Our eyes met, and once again I saw hostility in Le You’s gaze. Even though this face of mine only resembled Jing Chun from my previous life by three parts.

“Zhuo Yuan, who is she?”

I clenched my fingers tightly, afraid I wouldn’t be able to control myself and would strangle her on the spot.

Zhuo Yuan noticed my impatience and held me even tighter. The scent on his body made my head spin, and I was instantly overwhelmed with nausea.

I retched.

“Ahhh!”

Le You recoiled in disgust, covering her nose.

Zhuo Yuan frowned at Le You. “She’s unwell. I need to take her to heal first. You return to the Heavenly Realm ahead of me; I’ll follow soon.”

Zhuo Yuan carried me away. I poked my head out and gave Le You a meaningful smile.

She glared at me coldly, gritting her teeth as she chased after us. “Zhuo Yuan, let me go with you. If you’re going to heal her, I can help.”

Zhuo Yuan didn’t pause at all. He pressed his palm to me, sending a steady stream of magic into my body. The pain eased, and my consciousness began to blur.

Scenes flashed through my mind, but I couldn’t piece together the full story.

At the bottom of Yin Erosion Valley, miasma had gathered for years, all because the Demon Clan’s Cang Ming was sealed there. For a hundred miles around, there was no sign of life. As I fell, darkness surrounded me, yet I could feel hundreds of eyes watching.

I landed at the bottom of the valley, beneath the Nether Abyss, where ten thousand ghosts wailed.

My body was lifted by a giant Black Lotus. Hundreds of eyes stared at the Black Lotus beneath me. They cheered and howled, calling me princess.

They fed me bitter water, reconnected my meridians, and rebuilt my spine.

The valley had everything, yet it was always shrouded in gray mist.

And then, I returned to Wangchuan Lake…

Someone had altered my memories!

I jolted awake. In the fog, someone was channeling magic into the Black Lotus on my wrist. He raised his brows, mocking my weakness: “You have the blood of my Demon Clan, yet you’re such a softie…”

“Forget it, little softie with no parents’ love. I owe you one. If your fall hadn’t broken my seal, who knows how much longer I’d have been trapped!

“Little softie, go back to Wangchuan Lake first. Once I bring your mother back, we can be reunited!”

I was sent to Wangchuan Lake. It all felt so unreal.

I was trapped in painful memories, unable to escape.

Zhuo Yuan kept sending magic into me, all of which I absorbed.

Le You cried out in alarm:

“Zhuo Yuan, are you crazy? She’s absorbing your magic! If you keep this up, you’ll lose half your cultivation!”

Zhuo Yuan ignored her, continuing to pour his power into me.

When I finally opened my eyes, he drove Le You out and set up a barrier. He gazed at me with deep affection, as if I were his most precious treasure.

“Jing Chun, you’re still alive. That’s wonderful.”
