The test during the last rainy day had been a great success.

With Jiang Nie’s personality, if he only had eyes for Wen Hua, he would never have acted so gentlemanly.

Today, she had to accelerate the process.

Just now at the dining table, in order to coax Wen Ning into drinking, Duan Wenhao had also drunk quite a bit himself.

Wen Ning had waited until the alcohol hit him before coming out; she was creating an opportunity for Duan Wenhao to act with ill intentions.

For someone as lust-driven as him, once drunk, he would surely become impatient and come looking for her.

It all depended on whether Jiang Nie had even the slightest ulterior motive toward her-would he come out to play the hero and save the beauty?

Even if Jiang Nie didn’t appear, Wen Ning was confident she could withdraw unscathed as the victim, and she had alternative plans for the next step.

“Knock, knock, knock.”

The bathroom door was knocked on, and Duan Wenhao’s voice came through, “Wen Ning, are you in there?”

To make sure Duan Wenhao was completely overcome by lust and lost his reason, she had to provoke him a bit more.

Wen Ning splashed cold water on her face. The droplets didn’t ruin her makeup; instead, a few drops slid down her hair onto her clothes.

The neckline of her dress was soaked, revealing a faint glimpse of her collarbone.

When the door opened, Wen Ning staggered out, her face flushed with a tipsy red. “Brother Wenhao, I’m fine.”

As expected, seeing Wen Ning in this state, Duan Wenhao was completely transfixed.

He was calculating with what little brainpower he had left.

At this moment, they were in a top-floor luxury suite, with a private bathroom and dressing room exclusively for the guests.

And Wen Ning was this drunk-she wouldn’t be able to resist even if he forced himself on her.

If he waited any longer, she might sober up, and there wouldn’t be such a good opportunity!

Afterwards, as long as he claimed it was consensual, no one would suspect a thing.

Truly, the time, place, and people were all in his favor!

With such a top-tier beauty, Duan Wenhao was already secretly delighted.

If he could marry Second Miss Wen, that would be the best of both worlds!

Duan Wenhao was now planning to immediately take Wen Ning to the dressing room next door!

He impatiently grabbed Wen Ning’s arm.

“Wen Ning, you seem really drunk. There’s a sofa in the next room. Let me help you rest for a bit.”

“Are you… Duan Wenhao? No need, I want to go back and find my sister.”

Wen Ning pretended to be drunk, her words incoherent, even calling Duan Wenhao by his full name, her voice soft and muddled.

Duan Wenhao immediately reacted, grabbing Wen Ning’s arm and trying to drag her next door.

“Let me go! What are you doing?” Wen Ning sensed something was wrong and shouted loudly.

“What am I doing? Hmph, we’ve come this far, can’t you tell?

Stop pretending! Weren’t you the one seducing me? I’ve coaxed you for so long, it’s time I got something in return.”

Duan Wenhao’s gentlemanly façade was completely torn away, revealing his ugly true face.

Wen Ning’s arm was yanked so hard it stung, but this injury was far from enough!

If Jiang Nie didn’t show up, she would have to leave more marks on herself to be safe.

Wen Ning struggled hard against Duan Wenhao’s grip. Her arm instantly turned red and swollen, and her dress was pulled loose, exposing her fair, smooth shoulder.

Duan Wenhao’s eyes darkened, and he forcefully pinned Wen Ning against the wall.

Her back slammed into the cold wall, making Wen Ning gasp in pain.

Wen Ning’s skin was the type that would bruise for a long time even with a light bump. After this struggle, her back would surely be covered in bruises.

Seeing that the injuries were almost enough, but Jiang Nie still hadn’t appeared!

Could it be that Jiang Nie really had no feelings for her?

Wen Ning’s eyes turned cold as she prepared to break free.

Because of her looks, she had been harassed many times since childhood, and had learned some basic self-defense in Yunzhou.

She wasn’t very skilled, but dealing with a drunk like this was no problem.

Just as she was about to act, out of the corner of her eye, she saw a figure.

It was Jiang Nie!

Since that was the case…

Wen Ning’s previously indifferent eyes suddenly filled with tears, a few drops sliding down her cheeks.

Her face full of panic and fear, she cried out, “Help! Hel-”
Duan Wenhao never expected that Wen Ning, even as drunk as she was, would still be conscious enough to call for help. In his panic, he roughly clamped his hand over Wen Ning’s mouth.

Wen Ning whimpered and could not make a sound, only shaking her head desperately.

Almost there!

Out of the corner of her eye, Wen Ning saw that figure running toward her.

She feigned despair and shut her eyes, her face full of hopelessness.

But the next moment, the terrible thing she feared did not happen, and the hand covering Wen Ning’s mouth and nose was suddenly released.

She opened her eyes and saw Duan Wenhao being kicked far away by Jiang Nie.

Regaining her breath, Wen Ning gasped deeply, her chest heaving violently.

Because she had struggled so hard just now, she was completely exhausted. Her legs gave out, and she nearly collapsed to the ground.

But the pain she expected didn’t come, because a strong arm supported her.

Very good, as long as Jiang Nie feels pity for another woman, that means his heart is not far from changing.

With Jiang Nie’s support, Wen Ning managed to stand, but she was in poor shape.

Her skin was very delicate; after the struggle, there were obvious red marks on her arms and chin.

Her collar had slipped down half an inch, revealing skin that was flushed an eye-catching pink.

This time, it was Jiang Nie whose expression darkened. He pulled off his Armani jacket and draped it over Wen Ning’s shoulders.

As the jacket lifted, a whiff of sweet orange mingled with alcohol drifted into Jiang Nie’s nose.

He hadn’t thought much about it in the rush of supporting her, but now, coming to his senses, he realized the posture between the two of them was quite ambiguous.

Jiang Nie’s arm was wrapped around Wen Ning’s back, while Wen Ning’s eyes were full of lingering terror after her ordeal.

On top of that, she was drunk, her whole body leaning into Jiang Nie’s arms, sobbing softly:

“Mr. Jiang, I… I’m so scared, sob…”

Suddenly, a softness filled his arms, and Jiang Nie’s body tensed.

Wen Ning’s eyelashes brushed against the thin fabric of Jiang Nie’s shirt, and her tears soaked the spot right over his heart.

“It’s okay now,” Jiang Nie, for once, offered a few words of comfort, frowning as he looked at Duan Wenhao, who lay on the ground groaning.

This wasn’t the first time Duan Wenhao had behaved this way, but why Wen Ning this time?

He couldn’t figure it out.

Though everyone knew what Duan Wenhao was like, he never dared to make trouble close to home, much less covet someone within their circle.

Besides, Wen Hua was here today. Even if he had the intent, he wouldn’t have the nerve. Or could it be…

Was it with Wen Hua’s tacit approval?

No! That was her sister. Wen Hua wasn’t that kind of person.

Or was it simply that Duan Wenhao, that lecher, really couldn’t resist Wen Ning?

Jiang Nie glanced at the trembling girl in his arms-she really was alluring.

He had to admit that Wen Ning looked truly beautiful in this fragile state, enough to stir a man’s desire to protect and conquer.

Jiang Nie unconsciously swallowed, feeling his face heat up.

After all, he’d never been so close to any girl except Wen Hua.

But that wasn’t all. Jiang Nie also felt something was off with himself.

Last time, when he’d meddled and let Wen Ning into the car, he’d felt something he couldn’t quite put into words.

He’d thought it was only because Wen Ning was Wen Hua’s sister that he treated her a little differently.

But ever since that day, images of Wen Ning had appeared in his mind with surprising frequency.

Now, once again, because Wen Ning was drunk and he’d discovered Duan Wenhao’s ill intent, he had, almost instinctively, followed and saved her.

And now, again almost instinctively, he was holding her…

As Jiang Nie’s mind wandered-

“What are you doing?”

Behind them, Wen Hua’s voice sounded.

Wen Ning immediately took a few steps back, pulling herself out of Jiang Nie’s embrace.

Suddenly his arms were empty, and Jiang Nie felt a strange emptiness in his chest.

Wen Hua was still shocked by the scene before her-she saw her admirer holding her sister, the very one she looked down on!

How had things turned out like this?!

Wen Ning had gone to the restroom, and Duan Wenhao chased after her. Wen Hua knew well enough what might happen between the two.

But not long after, Jiang Nie had said he was going to make a phone call and left as well.

Once Jiang Nie left, Wen Hua started to feel uneasy.

She realized that ever since Wen Ning had left, both men beside her had seemed distracted.
