Meng Rusong asked, “Then how can I find you?”

Jiang Ci replied, “I’ll be here until sunset.”

Meng Rusong reacted quickly and asked in surprise, “Did you predict that Old Song would come looking for you again today?”

Jiang Ci just smiled without answering.

“No way… Song Youlin, that old man, has never believed in this fortune-telling stuff deep down.” Meng Rusong laughed heartily. “But I believe it. I’m more likely to help him find you.”

“So, girl, who did you learn your calligraphy from?”

He changed the subject and pressed her again.

Jiang Ci leaned against the tree trunk, closed her eyes, and rested, saying nothing more.

“What a strange girl,” Meng Rusong muttered, feeling a bit awkward. He could only leave with his drawing board in his arms.

He first went to the Cultural Center to handle some matters. When he came out, he saw Jiang Ci still sitting under the shade of the tree, as if she hadn’t moved at all.

Remembering what she had said earlier, Meng Rusong decided to visit the Song Family.

If his old friend was in trouble, he could still lend a hand.

When Meng Rusong arrived at the old Song Family residence, he saw the servants in a panic.

Some were calling for an ambulance, some were rushing to get the family doctor, and some were preparing things to induce vomiting.

After asking around, he learned that Old Song’s most beloved little granddaughter had attempted suicide by taking pills.

Meng Rusong was shocked, goosebumps rising on his arms.

“The old sending off the young… it really came true!”

Song Youlin had been checking the damaged ancestral tombs on the back hill. When he heard the bad news about his little granddaughter’s suicide, he stood there in a daze, unable to recover for a long time.

When he finally turned around, tears were streaming down his face, and he seemed to have aged more than ten years in an instant.

“Ranran! My precious granddaughter!”

He was helped back to the old house, trembling all the way.

The little granddaughter, Song Ran, was saved by the family doctor’s induced vomiting, but she still hadn’t regained consciousness.

“Why would my granddaughter take pills for no reason? Did someone poison Ranran?” Song Youlin asked angrily.

The family doctor replied truthfully, “Actually… Miss Ranran has been taking antidepressants.”

“Antidepressants?” Song Father frowned, his face turning ugly. “How could she be taking that kind of medicine!”

In his eyes, taking such medicine was the same as taking medication for mental illness.

If word got out that the prestigious Song Family of Jiangbei had a mentally ill member, wouldn’t that be a huge disgrace?

Song Jinmin’s branch of the family already looked down on his side.

If it became known that his daughter had a mental illness, wouldn’t that be a stain on his reputation, making it impossible for him to hold his head up again?

The family doctor said, “Miss Ranran has been ill for more than two years…”

“Shut up!”

Song Father scolded with a dark face, “What illness! Ranran is happy every day, how could she be depressed? She just gets in a bad mood sometimes, that’s all.”

Song Youlin agreed, “Yes, Ranran is still young, what could she possibly be sad about? When I was young, life was much harder, and I was never depressed.”

The family doctor’s mouth twitched slightly.

Trying to explain that depression is an illness, not just a bad mood, to such stubborn people was too difficult.

“Although the Eldest Miss has already vomited, she still needs to be taken to the hospital for gastric lavage.”

The doctor paused, but couldn’t help correcting the two elders.

“Even people with severe depression can smile happily every day. This is a disease, not just a bad mood. The Eldest Miss has already attempted suicide. I hope Elder Song and Mr. Song will take this seriously.”

But Song Father sternly instructed him, “You are not allowed to reveal the young lady’s privacy. Do the gastric lavage in the medical room at home. There’s no need to go to the hospital and make a scene.”
The largest hospital in Jiangbei was owned by the Song Jinmin family.

If he sent his daughter there to have her stomach pumped, within an hour, the whole of Jiangbei would know that his daughter was mentally ill.

He couldn’t afford to lose that face!

“Old Song, are you really not sending your little granddaughter to the hospital?” Meng Rusong nudged him with his elbow.

Song Youlin sighed, “We have medical equipment at home. If it really doesn’t work, then we’ll send her to the hospital.”

“Why are you just like your son?” Meng Rusong said irritably. “Don’t wait until the white-haired sends off the black-haired, or you’ll regret it when it’s too late!”

His words became a prophecy.

At 2:30 in the afternoon,

Song Ran, who was lying in her home medical room receiving an IV, woke up and slit her wrist while no one was watching.

When the doctor came in, the floor was covered in glaring blood.

“Quick, get her to the hospital!”

Now, there was no way around going to the hospital.

Song Father felt ashamed and didn’t go to the hospital.

Song Youlin cared deeply for his little granddaughter and was truly afraid something would happen to her, so he went.

Meng Rusong went along as well. On the way, he glanced at his old friend, whose face was pale with anxiety and who looked utterly lost, and tried to comfort him:

“I told you we should have sent Ranran to the hospital. Now look, something’s happened.”

Song Youlin was full of regret, but still retorted, “Old Meng, you call this comforting? Anyone who didn’t know better would think you came along just to watch the show!”

“I’m worried about your granddaughter too. Just think, such a beautiful girl-if she really…”

“If you don’t speak, no one will think you’re mute!”

The two old rascals rushed to the hospital.

After Song Ran was resuscitated for over an hour, the light outside the emergency room finally went out.

The doctor came out and told them to prepare themselves mentally.

“Miss Song previously took a large amount of medication, which damaged her brain. Coupled with her very low will to live, she may never wake up again…”

Song Youlin’s face turned deathly pale, his mind exploding.

His legs gave out. If Meng Rusong hadn’t reacted quickly to support him, he would have collapsed to the floor.

“Old Song, do you remember the prophecy that girl made? Maybe she has a way to save your granddaughter!”

“You actually believe in that stuff?”

Song Youlin’s heart was in agony, but he still stubbornly clung to his views.

“Find the best medical team. No matter how much it costs, you must make my granddaughter wake up!”

“We’ve tried medicine, so let’s try metaphysics! Maybe it’ll work. Do you really want to just watch your granddaughter become a vegetable?”

Meng Rusong felt exasperated at his friend’s stubbornness. If it were his own granddaughter, he would have carried her straight to the Cultural Square.

“That girl said the white-haired would send off the black-haired. If you delay any longer, you might not even be able to save your granddaughter’s life!”

Meng Rusong actually didn’t know why, but when he saw the words that girl had written, he felt a deep-rooted trust in her.

Someone who could write in a style so similar to that person’s couldn’t be ordinary.

At the very least, she wouldn’t be a charlatan.

“Let’s go, let’s go, we have to get to the Cultural Square before sunset.”

Meng Rusong dragged Song Youlin into the car.

The sun was setting in the west.

Before the last rays of sunlight faded, the two finally arrived at the square.

But they were a step too late-there was no sign of Jiang Ci under the tree.

“Aiya, it’s all because you dawdled. Now look, she’s already gone!”

Song Youlin’s face was ashen, his anger barely contained. “My granddaughter is still lying in a hospital bed, and you insisted on dragging me here to look for some female swindler and waste time.”

“Meng Rusong, you’re truly ridiculous! Senile! Unreasonable!”
