Song Sibe finally woke up after the surgery, only to find his abdomen wrapped in gauze.

All the bodyguards cowered in the corner, not even daring to breathe.

Under his harsh questioning, his subordinates, trembling with fear, finally told him he had undergone a kidney transplant.

“Young Master Song, it really wasn’t our fault!”

“We did exactly as you ordered and brought Jiang Ci into the operating room, but somehow, the one who came out ended up being you…”

The group of bodyguards were nearly scared to death.

Song Sibe gritted his teeth to endure the pain, his eyes blazing with fury as he roared, “Where is the old bastard!”

A bodyguard replied cautiously, “The Chairman is in the next ward, still in a coma…”

Song Sibe was so angry that he almost tore open his own wound, shouting, “Useless! I was talking about that dog Dean Zhang! Tell him to get in here, now!”

After finishing the transplant surgery, Dean Zhang was only told by his subordinates that they had taken the wrong person’s kidney.

He was extremely afraid that Song Sibe would come looking for trouble once he woke up.

So, before Song Sibe regained consciousness, he had already prepared the surveillance footage.

“Young Master Song, I was completely set up in this matter.”

Dean Zhang nervously played the video.

Song Sibe watched grimly.

On the high-definition surveillance footage, it showed that he was the one brought to the operating room by his subordinates.

Dean Zhang even looked surprised and asked, ‘How come it’s Young Master Song…’

The subordinate urged Dean Zhang: ‘This was Young Master Song’s direct order. Do you dare to disobey? Here he is, hurry up and perform the surgery!’

Hearing his own voice, the head bodyguard’s face turned ashen, and he dropped to his knees in panic on the spot.

“Young Master Song, this is impossible! The person we sent into the operating room was clearly Jiang Ci! None of us could have mistaken her!”

“Dean Zhang, it was you! You must have tried to harm the young master!”

Dean Zhang shrugged innocently, “How could it have been me? I asked you at the time-how could it be Young Master Song? You yourself said it was under his order.”

“All of you are the young master’s trusted men, so naturally I could only believe that the young master had made up his mind to donate a kidney to the Chairman. The evidence is right here-there are faces, voices, and the truth. Don’t try to push all the blame on me!”

He was already half in the grave; he couldn’t bear to carry such a heavy blame!

Song Sibe’s face was dark as night: “Where is Jiang Ci? Find her! Why was I the one who lost a kidney instead of her?”

The bodyguard said nervously, “We checked before you woke up… There was no surveillance footage at the place where we caught Jiang Ci, and when we returned to the hospital, we took the VIP route, so there’s no trace on any cameras… Only the operating room entrance has footage.”

“Useless! You’re all useless!”

Song Sibe was so furious his teeth nearly cracked.

He hadn’t been that good in bed to begin with.

Now he was missing a kidney.

How was he supposed to regain his manly prowess in the future?

“Take his kidney out!” Song Sibe shouted furiously, pointing at the head bodyguard.

Dean Zhang said nervously, “Young master… his kidney isn’t a match for you.”

When the Chairman fell ill with kidney disease, all employees of the Song Group had been tested for compatibility.

Out of tens of thousands of employees, not a single one was a match.

Except for Young Master Song and Jiang Ci.

“Do you know how precious my kidney is?” Song Sibe’s eyes were fierce. “Do you want me to have suffered all this for nothing?”

“And you, Dean Zhang, pack up your things and get out!”

Dean Zhang and the head bodyguard both turned pale as paper.

Especially the head bodyguard, who knelt on the ground in terror, kowtowing desperately.

“Young Master, spare me! I really don’t know what happened. Please, young master, let me go…”
Blood streamed down his forehead, but it didn’t make Song Sibe change his mind.

“The rest of you, whoever can bring Jiang Ci back, your mistakes will be forgiven. Otherwise, you’ll end up just as miserable as him!”

Song Sibe’s face was filled with viciousness.

Thinking that he would never again have the chance to show his strength, he clenched his fingers tightly, his eyes brimming with venomous hatred.

“Jiang Ci, this is all your fault! I’ll tear you to pieces!”

Little did he know-

the person he hated most was just outside the door.

Jiang Ci smiled calmly. “Catch me first, three-second man.”

She left the hospital and went straight to the mall to buy new clothes.

Earlier, she had no choice but to wear Jiang Wan’s clothes.

Jiang Wan had been well-nourished since childhood and her figure was much better than Xiao Ci’s.

Wearing Jiang Wan’s clothes on Xiao Ci’s thin body, they were more than a size too big.

Jiang Ci was quite particular about everything she did.

Anything inappropriate never caught her eye.

Especially clothes that didn’t fit-of course they had to be replaced.

In the fitting room, she changed into a black bodycon dress with a modern cheongsam twist. It accentuated her waist, was simple and understated, yet exuded an aura of cool elegance and nobility. In an instant, she transformed into a true queen.

After buying clothes, she went to a mobile phone shop.

All the phones in the mall were branded stores, each more expensive than the last-some cost over ten thousand, the cheapest still four or five thousand.

Jiang Ci didn’t have much money left, so she simply left the mall and went to a phone shop by the street, randomly picked up a senior phone, and including a SIM card, it only cost three hundred yuan.

“Clothes are changed, I have a communication tool, just need a bit more equipment.”

Jiang Ci hailed a cab and asked the driver to take her to a place selling ritual supplies.

The driver instantly understood: “You mean the Peace and Auspicious Funeral Service Company, right?”

“Mm.”

An hour later,

the driver took her to the suburbs and stopped in front of a row of deserted, rundown houses.

“That’s the place.”

He pointed ahead, collected his fare, and drove off.

Jiang Ci got out of the car and saw rows of old and shabby houses before her.

Only one house had a faint light on.

Under the light, strings of gold and silver paper money, underworld coins, and Tongtian coins hung from the signboard. At the entrance stood a pair of male and female Paper Offerings with blank eyes, looking especially eerie in the darkness.

Jiang Ci walked over, her expression calm as always.

The signboard was scrawled crookedly: Peace and Auspicious Funeral Service Company.

Her lips twitched slightly. The name sounded impressive, but in reality, the place looked more like a recycling center for scrap.

Inside, there was only a Red-haired Youth lying on a chair playing games.

Jiang Ci entered, but he didn’t even lift his eyes.

Only a loudspeaker blared: “Our products are high-quality and affordable. No bargaining. Don’t touch if you’re not buying. Break it, pay for it. We provide grave-sweeping and grave-crying services-one person, one minute, one hundred yuan. For groups of more than ten, please book a week in advance…”

Jiang Ci said, “Do you have Yellow Talismans and Cinnabar?”

The Red-haired Youth was completely absorbed in his phone. “I think so, but no one’s bought that stuff in years. Might not be able to find it.”

“I want to buy it. Go find some.”

“There’s so much stuff here, how am I supposed to find it? I only sell what you can see.”

Jiang Ci looked above the Red-haired Youth’s head.

She saw an Old Woman dressed in burial clothes, knocking on the youth’s head in exasperation.

“You lazy donkey! Business is here and you’re still too lazy to move! Get up and serve the customer!”
