The Hellborn Heiress - chapter 21
In the corridor.
Song Father was holding an electric baton he had gotten from the Security Department.
Letting an idiot treat his unconscious daughter-if word got out, it would be a colossal joke!
He absolutely would not allow his family to become the laughingstock of all Jiangbei again!
Song Father seized the moment, eyed Jiang Ci a few meters away, and lunged forward with the baton, trying to stun her.
Who could have guessed that Jiang Ci would suddenly squat down? Song Father’s pupils contracted instantly, and before he could react, she slid and swept him far away with a slide tackle.
“Trying to sneak attack-don’t you have any shame?” Jiang Ci got up nimbly, dusted off her hands, her face full of nonchalance.
Song Ran kept apologizing beside her: “Lady Jiang, I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry! Did my dad hurt you?”
Song Father lay on the ground, feeling like his old back was nearly broken by her, and his butt hurt terribly from the fall.
Under the gaze of everyone, he could only grit his teeth and crawl up, limping over to his father, lowering his voice: “Dad! Do you know who that brat is!”
Song Youlin looked at his disgraced son and rubbed his forehead: “No matter who she is, what you did was disgraceful. How could you hurt someone from behind?”
Song Father retorted angrily: “Dad, she’s Jiang Ci! Jiang Ci, you know? The idiot who donated her kidney to your brother!”
“What?” Song Youlin was stunned. “Impossible, she’s so good at chess, how could she be an idiot?”
“She’s not just an idiot, she’s mentally ill-a lunatic! Do you know what happened at the Jiang Family a few days ago? Jiang Fu’s wife, Ye Shuhua, had her eyes gouged out by this lunatic-she’s blind now! The whole of Jiangbei knows about it!” Song Father was furious.
“You want a lunatic to treat Ranran? Isn’t that reckless? Dad, do you want to kill Ranran?”
Song Youlin looked at Jiang Ci, half believing, half doubting.
He saw the young girl in a black dress, standing cold and indifferent. Maybe sensing his suspicious gaze, she looked back at him.
Her eyes were large and dark, as deep as a bottomless, icy spring.
Song Youlin’s heart skipped a beat.
Could his son actually be right?
Was Jiang Ci really a lunatic? Otherwise, why was she so mysterious?
Had he really been fooled by a madwoman?
Song Youlin didn’t dare be careless. Pretending nothing was wrong, he smiled at Jiang Ci: “Young Friend, please wait a moment. I suddenly need to use the restroom. When I return, we’ll go to Ranran’s ward together.”
He pulled his son aside and whispered: “Watch Jiang Ci-don’t let her go into the ward alone. I’m going to make a call and ask around!”
But their whispered conversation was perfectly clear to Jiang Ci.
Jiang Ci’s expression didn’t change.
There were many atheists in this world. They never believed in the existence of the Yin-Yang world; only when they died would they accept reality.
She wanted to see what tricks this father and son would play.
Song Ran was so anxious she stomped her feet: “Grandpa, Dad! Lady Jiang really can communicate with Yin-Yang! Don’t mess things up!”
Song Father wasn’t idle either, calling the Security Department to strictly guard his daughter’s ward.
With that posture, anyone could see they wouldn’t let Jiang Ci get anywhere near the ward.
Jiang Ci simply sat down, closed her eyes, and rested.
Song Youlin hurried to the stairwell and called Meng Rusong, asking him to have his grandson in the relevant department check up on Jiang Ci.
After anxiously waiting a few minutes, he finally got a reply.
Looking at the information sent over, Song Youlin was thunderstruck, his whole body turning cold.
“Jiang Ci, eighteen years old. Birth mother was once a maid for the Jiang Family, died in a car accident. Jiang Ci was adopted by the Jiang Family. Examination shows an IQ of a three-year-old, diagnosed with lifelong intellectual disability…”
The file also came with a photo of Jiang Ci’s ID card.
Judging by the date, it was taken exactly three days ago.
In the photo, Jiang Ci’s mouth was drooling, her expression vacant and foolish as she stared at the camera, her eyes filled only with a dull light.
Song Youlin nearly had a heart attack on the spot.
“She really is mentally disabled… But who’s ever seen an idiot play chess so well?”
Thinking about how Jiang Ci had deceived him, he was furious, wishing he could slap her a few times and kick her out the door.
But then he remembered what his son had said: Jiang Ci was now a lunatic, a ticking time bomb-who would dare provoke her?
Song Youlin could only curse himself for getting involved with such a madwoman, anxiously pacing back and forth in the stairwell.
A few more minutes passed.
He slapped his forehead. “I’ll just trick Jiang Ci into leaving first!”
Song Youlin composed himself, returned to the corridor, and saw Jiang Ci sitting with her eyes closed. He angrily made a fierce punching gesture at her before speaking in a low voice, “Young Friend, I just received word that something’s happened again at the Ancestral Grave. I need to hurry over, why don’t you come take a look with me?”
“Dad?” Song Father was bewildered. Why take this lunatic to the family’s Ancestral Grave?
Wasn’t he afraid Jiang Ci would suddenly go crazy, dig up the Song Family’s grave, and scatter all the ashes?
Song Youlin winked at him.
Song Father: “…”
This was the Song Family’s hospital, after all. Why not just have the bodyguards drag Jiang Ci away? Why bother with such a complicated diversion?
Jiang Ci opened her eyes, her cold gaze sharp enough to pierce the heart.
She said coolly, “Song Youlin, you’ve doubted me again and again, yet I’ve helped your family without holding grudges, only because I pity your granddaughter. Now, at the final moment, you’re playing tricks again.”
“Very well.”
“I’m telling you now: from this moment on, even if your whole family kneels before me and begs for my help, I won’t lift a finger.”
Who doesn’t have a temper?
If not for Song Ran’s pitiful situation and her need to collect Merit, Jiang Ci wouldn’t have spared the Song Family a single glance.
Upon hearing this, Song Father sneered arrogantly, “The whole family kneel before you? Hahaha, Jiang Ci, do you even hear yourself? Do you know what status the Song Family holds, and what status you have? You think you deserve to have us kneel before you?”
Song Youlin tugged at him, signaling his son not to provoke this madwoman.
“My granddaughter doesn’t need your help. I’ll find the best doctors in the world for her. And you don’t need to pay back that thirty-five hundred-I’ll consider it a charitable donation to a poor child.”
Song Youlin waved his hand, all courtesy gone.
Jiang Ci turned to Song Ran and instructed her, “Go back to your body for now. When you wake up, come find me. I’ll help you stabilize your Soul. And remember to give me the remaining sixty-five hundred-this was the payment Song Youlin promised me. He broke his word, so you’ll have to pay it instead.”
Song Ran looked apologetic. “Lady Jiang, don’t worry. I’ll repay you with interest, and I’ll explain everything to them so they know you’re not a fraud.”
“Dad, look at her talking to thin air. She’s really convincing-I told you she’s crazy.”
“Thank goodness she didn’t get close to Ranran, or we’d regret it forever.”
The father and son pointed and whispered, still shaken.
Little did they know, their actions today would soon bring a terrible price-by then, regret would come far too late.
