The Hellborn Heiress - chapter 46
Chi Che couldn’t understand it at all. His older brother already had status, position, and wealth-why would he still want to kill their father?
Suddenly, a thought struck him, and he asked Jiang Ci urgently, “Master Jiang, do you think my brother might be possessed by an Evil Ghost?”
“Isn’t that a common plot in movies? An Evil Ghost possesses a good person and makes them do all sorts of bad things.”
“My brother must be possessed by an Evil Ghost too, that’s why he hurt my dad!”
“What are you being so naive about? There’s no trace of Yin Energy on your brother.” Jiang Ci’s dark eyes were as sharp as a drawn sword, piercing through him: “If you really believe your brother is a good person, then why didn’t you stay and work at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital?”
“Because I didn’t study traditional Chinese medicine.” Chi Che lowered his head.
Mother Chi keenly sensed something was wrong. “A Che, did you already notice something?”
“Mom, I just can’t believe my brother could be so ruthless. This is patricide! How could he dare?” Chi Che was on the verge of breaking down and tried to run out.
Jiang Ci grabbed his collar, “If you go out now, you’ll only alert the enemy. Your father isn’t completely out of danger yet.”
Chi Che stopped in his tracks, clutching his head and crashing into the wall in despair.
Mother Chi helplessly patted her son’s head and sighed, “The most important thing now is to make your brother pay for his crimes.”
“But Chi Ming did it so cleanly-there’s only me as a witness to the whole thing.” Mother Chi’s eyes were red: “I absolutely won’t let someone with the heart of a wolf and tiger stay by your father’s side. He’s too extreme; he might even hurt my A Che.”
Jiang Ci asked her, “Do you know your husband’s and Chi Ming’s Birth Date and Time?”
Mother Chi quickly told her.
Jiang Ci calculated for a moment. “Your husband’s Liunian encounters Sangmen, which means disasters, both natural and man-made. He can get through it, but…”
Mother Chi and Chi Che both tensed up. “But what?”
“Rizhu Diaoke-loss of a close relative.”
The first part the mother and son didn’t understand, but the second part was clear enough even for fools.
“Lady Jiang means… my son is in danger?” Mother Chi’s face turned pale as she gripped Chi Che’s hand.
“It’s your other son,” Jiang Ci said. “Chi Ming has weak ties with family, is at odds with his siblings, has great ambition, strong jealousy, and not only is he bad at managing money, he often loses it.”
She paused and looked at Chi Che. “Does your brother have a gambling problem?”
Chi Che was shocked. “Master Jiang, you’re amazing! You can even figure that out?”
Mother Chi was stunned. “Gambling?”
“Mom… Actually, I noticed back in high school. Once, my brother secretly took a gold bar from your safe…”
“What!” Mother Chi was so angry she almost came back to life. “A Che, why didn’t you tell me sooner? If I’d known the gold bar was stolen by your brother, I wouldn’t have blamed your dad. I even knocked out one of his teeth.”
She had thought her husband took it to squander, and had interrogated him harshly.
Chi Che said regretfully, “My brother said he was just borrowing it for a few days and would return it soon, so I didn’t think much of it. Plus, I was about to go abroad then, so I forgot.”
“When I was overseas, I accidentally found out my brother went to a casino in Las Vegas. After asking around, I learned he played big and lost a lot of money.”
As Chi Che spoke, his expression suddenly changed. “Could my brother have racked up huge debts, tried to get money from Dad, and when Dad refused, he did something terrible?”
Mother Chi was furious. “That’s probably it! No wonder when he pushed your dad off the cliff, he said, ‘If you won’t give me money now, are you saving it for your coffin?’ That unfilial son!”
“Lady Jiang, I’ve seen all kinds of people on Yellow Spring Road these past few years. Someone as evil as my eldest son, who killed his own father, will surely be cast into the Eighteen Hells, won’t he?”
Jiang Ci nodded.
Mother Chi only regretted not educating her eldest son properly while she was alive, which led him astray.
Seeing her grief-stricken face, Jiang Ci said, “Children are debts from past lives. If there were no debts, they wouldn’t come. Some come to repay debts of gratitude, some to collect them. Chi Ming is inherently Evil. Even if you had tried your best to teach him, he would have ended up on this path sooner or later.”
Mother Chi closed her eyes. “A Che, call the police. Your brother is an adult now. He chose his own path, so he should pay the price.”
Chi Che hesitated, unable to make the call. “Grandpa and Dad both had high hopes for my brother. If I call the police, his future will be ruined. I’m afraid Grandpa won’t be able to take it.”
Jiang Ci said quietly, “Chi Ming dared to kill his own father. Do you think he’ll spare your grandfather, or you?”
Chi Che was startled, his face turning pale.
“Bring your grandfather here. Some things need to be seen with one’s own eyes before the heart can give up,” Jiang Ci instructed him.
Chi Che, dazed, went to find Elder Chi.
Elder Chi saw him looking lost and scolded, “I heard from your brother that as soon as you came back, you took a girl to play in the garden? Brat, when will you ever settle down?”
“Grandpa… I have something very important to discuss. It’s about the survival of the Chi Family,” Chi Che said, not allowing any argument as he pulled him away.
“Miss Su is still in the medical room. Brat, where are you dragging me?”
Elder Chi was dragged into the bedroom.
Seeing a young girl in a black dress with a scar on her face standing inside, Elder Chi’s expression darkened and he scolded, “Brat, what exactly are you trying to do!”
Chi Che said nothing, his eyes red, silently slipping the Ghost-Seeing Talisman into his grandfather’s hand.
“What’s this!” Elder Chi frowned, about to toss it aside in disgust.
Suddenly, a ghostly figure gradually appeared in the previously empty space before him.
A familiar yet unfamiliar silhouette came into view.
Elder Chi’s clouded eyes widened bit by bit, his mouth dropping open. “D-daughter-in-law?!”
His daughter-in-law had been dead for years, yet now she stood before him in the burial clothes she wore at death, half-transparent, calling him “Dad.”
Shocked, Elder Chi’s eyes rolled back and he collapsed stiffly to the ground.
Chi Che seemed to have expected this, catching his grandfather’s back and, tears streaming down his face, said, “Grandpa…”
Jiang Ci walked out of the bedroom, leaving the space for their family.
For a righteous, upright family to produce such a patricidal disgrace was an absolute blow.
She sat down in the corridor, but before she could even warm the seat, she felt someone staring at her from behind.
She turned around.
Bo Hanzhou was standing at the corner, secretly watching her.
Jiang Ci: “…”
“Miss Jiang.” Bo Hanzhou finally walked over, half-smiling as he said, “I just saw Chi Che crying as he went to Elder Chi to complain. Did you beat him up too?”
Jiang Ci glanced at him. “You have quite the imagination. You should write novels.”
“Besides, who needs a beating more than you?”
Bo Hanzhou smiled brightly. “That’s right, only I can take your beatings. Anyone else would’ve been wiped out by now.”
