The Hellborn Heiress - Chapter 5
Jiang Ci looked up at him, her eyes glinting with a half-smile. “Yes, that’s right. Liars have to swallow a thousand needles.”
“But since you’re my ‘adoptive father,’ I’ll give you a family discount-make it ten thousand needles.”
Jiang Fu’s mouth twitched. What nonsense was this fool spouting?
She probably hadn’t fully recovered yet.
“Xiao Ci, your Uncle Song is lying in the operating room, barely clinging to life. Only you can save him,” Jiang Fu pleaded earnestly.
Jiang Ci’s lips curved slightly. “And what do I get for saving him?”
“Although a good girl shouldn’t expect anything in return for saving someone, your Uncle Song and I would never treat you unfairly.”
Seeing how eager she was for benefits, Jiang Fu felt reassured.
People with desires are easier to control; it’s only the stubborn ones who are hard to handle.
If Jiang Ci wanted something in return, he could just give it to her. It was better than her refusing everything, which would force him to use other means.
“So, shall we go save him now?”
Song Jinmin controlled half of Jiangbei’s business world. If the Jiang Family saved him, their future would be limitless.
They might even be able to ride the Song Family’s coattails and become one of Jiangbei’s top ten wealthy families in one leap.
Thinking of this, Jiang Fu couldn’t help but feel elated and hurried to grab Jiang Ci’s hand.
Jiang Ci looked at him calmly and indifferently. “Did you know that Ye Shuhua lost sight in one eye?”
Jiang Fu was stunned.
He’d been running around like a servant these past two days, keeping vigil by Song Jinmin’s bedside day and night. How could he know his wife had gotten into trouble?
Young Master Song hadn’t mentioned it either-he’d only said that Jiang Ci had recovered and asked him to persuade her to donate a kidney.
Just then, Jiang Wan called.
“Hello, what’s wrong, my precious daughter… What? Your mom’s in the hospital? She’s blind in her left eye?” Shock slowly crept across Jiang Fu’s face. “Jiang Ci did it?!”
What unsettled him even more was that he saw Jiang Ci, at some point, had pulled out her IV and was holding the needle, staring at him playfully.
She looked just like a little devil!
“You-what are you trying to do-” Jiang Fu’s eyes were filled with panic as he tried to keep his voice calm. “Xiao Ci, don’t be impulsive. I’m doing this for your own good…”
Before he could finish.
Jiang Ci raised her hand.
With a flick of her fingers.
Jiang Fu, terrified, quickly covered his eyes.
Whoosh!
The needle flew through the air and embedded itself right in Jiang Fu’s carotid artery, sinking deep into the flesh!
“Aaargh-”
Jiang Fu opened his mouth wide in pain, trying to pull out the needle stuck in the side of his throat.
He heard Jiang Ci laugh softly, “Don’t move. It’s for your own good, too.”
Jiang Fu, refusing to believe her, grabbed the needle and yanked it out!
But then-
An indescribable numbness spread through his entire body in an instant!
First, his fingers tingled, then his face went numb, and soon his whole body-limbs, bones, everything-was paralyzed, until he could no longer even feel his arms and legs.
He cried out in terror, “What did you do to me? Why can’t I move?!”
“Didn’t I tell you not to move? Relax, you won’t die.” Jiang Ci smiled sweetly, got out of bed, walked over to him, and patted his shoulder gently. “You’re just paralyzed, that’s all.”
“What do you mean, ‘just paralyzed’-”
Before Jiang Fu could finish, drool began to pour uncontrollably from the corner of his mouth.
His face started twitching and contorting, becoming twisted and hideous.
But what Jiang Fu couldn’t stand the most was the excruciating pain in his throat, as if he were trying to swallow a red-hot iron needle.
Thud!
Jiang Fu collapsed straight to the floor, landing face-first, paralyzed and unable to move.
Beside him, the Headless Ghost was still crawling around, searching for its hands. “Where’s my hand… Where’s my head…”
Jiang Ci shoved her hands in her pockets and grinned carelessly. “Paralyzed for a day counts as swallowing one needle. Once you’ve swallowed ten thousand needles, you’ll be as good as new~”
Ten thousand needles!!!
That’s ten thousand days!
That’s a full 27 years!
Damn it, he didn’t even know if he could live another 27 years!
Jiang Fu’s eyes instantly filled with terror. He lost control of his bowels and bladder, everything coming out at once.
“Xiao… Xiao Xiao Ci, I… I’m the… the boss!”
He shouted incoherently, his throat feeling as if it were being cut by a knife-excruciating pain!
The pain, worse than death, fiercely ignited Jiang Fu’s will to survive. He used all his strength to squirm and crawl over, trying to grab Jiang Ci’s foot, begging her to save him.
“Save… me…”
Jiang Ci watched as one man and one ghost writhed on the ground like two maggots. She stepped over them and leisurely left the foul-smelling hospital room.
For people like Ye Shuhua and Jiang Fu, she would never show mercy.
The crimes they committed against Xiao Ci, the harm they inflicted, were far worse than this.
This was just a little bit of interest she was collecting for Xiao Ci. The main course was yet to come.
This hospital belonged to Song Group. It was past one in the morning, and the hospital corridors were silent and empty.
Oh, but there were plenty of ghosts coming and going.
Most of the ghosts had little awareness, still repeating things they did in life, thinking they weren’t dead.
A few already knew they were dead, but their obsessions lingered, so they wandered the hospital, gathering in small groups to brag.
As Jiang Ci walked past, a sleazy man stretched out his neck, his face sinister, baring bloody teeth as he laughed: “This scrawny little chick has such short legs, hahaha, though her skin’s pretty pale, but look at that face-what an ugly bitch…”
The sleazy man sized her up, criticizing at will as if picking a concubine.
Jiang Ci stopped, her contemptuous gaze as direct as if she were looking at trash. “Look at you, you’re like a toad-so uniquely ugly, you could hang on a door to ward off evil.”
“My legs are short? Still longer than your life.”
The sleazy man was shocked, completely unprepared for Jiang Ci to actually see him, let alone shut him up with a retort.
Especially that last line-not very hurtful, but extremely insulting.
It ruthlessly jabbed at the fact that he hadn’t lived past twenty-three.
Seeing she wasn’t someone to mess with, the sleazy man slunk away.
The other ghosts realized Jiang Ci could see them and all rushed over, begging her to buy some incense and candles for them to eat.
Jiang Ci patted her pockets and spread her hands. “I’m so poor I can’t even feed myself. Where am I supposed to get food for you?”
An old ghost winked at her. “Your boyfriend is the Chairman’s nephew at this hospital. He’s rich, ask him!”
Jiang Ci: “…”
How come she didn’t know she had a boyfriend?
“The handsome guy who carried you to the hospital earlier…”
As the ghosts spoke, a thick wave of Yin Energy suddenly swept through the dark corridor.
Their faces changed dramatically, and in a flash, they all vanished without a trace.
Jiang Ci turned around and saw a ghostly figure drifting toward her-white high hat on his head, dressed in white, holding a white Mourning Stick, making a terrifying ghost face, tongue long and crimson.
If an ordinary person saw this, they’d be scared to death on the spot.
Jiang Ci stepped forward, snatched the Mourning Stick from his hand, and smacked him hard on the head.
“You could’ve just come as yourself-why show up looking like this? Don’t you know I hate seeing ugly things the most?”
“My Mourning Stick!”
White Impermanence clutched his aching head, quickly retracted his long tongue, and his terrifying face returned to normal-a handsome young man.
He bowed to Jiang Ci, grinning cheekily. “Greetings, my lady. What brings you here?”
“Did the King of the Underworld send you to find me?”
“No, I’m here to collect Song Jinmin’s soul.”
