The sleazy man’s face lit up with joy. He hurriedly ran under the tree and knelt before her again, his face full of misery as he said:

“Master, I just want to ask when I can finally report to the Underworld. I’m just a Wandering Ghost, drifting in the Mortal Realm every day. No one offers me sacrifices, so I have to steal offerings to eat. The other old ghosts bully me too. Wuwuwu, my life is so miserable…”

“Give me your birth details.”

The sleazy man quickly reported them truthfully.

Jiang Ci calculated for a moment. “Your lifespan is seventy-two years. You died just after turning twenty-three. Your allotted years are not yet over. Once your lifespan is up, you can go down.”

The sleazy man looked shocked. “So I have to wander the Mortal Realm for another forty-nine years! Ahhh, why is my fate so bitter!”

Jiang Ci: “You died suddenly, didn’t you?”

Sleazy man: “Yes, yes, yes, it was sudden. When I fell, I hit my head on the keyboard and even smashed my mouth.”

That’s why his mouth was full of bloody teeth.

Jiang Ci’s gaze turned sharp, and she sneered, “Don’t you know what you’ve done?”

“I… What did I do?”

“Your Karma of Speech is extremely heavy.”

“Karma of Speech…” The sleazy man suddenly thought of something, his whole body trembling. “I used to love cursing people online when I was alive, but it was just typing a few words to vent. It’s not like I actually hurt anyone with real weapons. How could that bring retribution on me?”

Jiang Ci glanced at him. “Of the Three Karmas of Body, Speech, and Mind, the retribution for Karma of Speech is the most severe.”

“Isn’t there a saying in the Mortal Realm: ‘A kind word can warm three winters, but a harsh word can chill six months’?”

“If you speak maliciously and slander others, you invite disaster and misfortune. Those who commit Karma of Speech will never have good fortune, and it will also diminish your own blessings.”

“You think you can hide behind countless online aliases and insult others at will, and no one will know, so you can do whatever you want? Even in a dark room, the gods see everything as clear as lightning. Everything you’ve done, every word you’ve said, is recorded in your personal Merit and Demerit Ledger. When you reach the Underworld, every single thing will be laid out and accounted for.”

“Your filthy mouth became an addiction, so you suffered Immediate Retribution. Your lifespan was cut short, and that’s why you died suddenly at your keyboard.”

The sleazy man was completely dumbfounded.

“I thought it was just a couple of harmless rants…”

“You think you’re just tapping a few keys, but the people you cyberbullied have to carry your filthy words, suffering inside every minute and every second, struggling to live. And you still don’t think you’re guilty?”

“You deserved to die suddenly. In my opinion, it was too easy a death for you.”

Jiang Ci narrowed her eyes. “And you still dare to come to me.”

She leapt down from the tree, grabbed the sleazy man by the hair, and dragged him off to find Xiao Bai.

The sleazy man screamed in agony.

He struggled hard a few times but couldn’t break free. Afraid to meet White Impermanence, his true nature was instantly revealed.

“You ugly bitch, let go of me! I don’t believe in this bullshit Karma of Speech! There are so many Keyboard Warriors, why did I die suddenly? You’re just making this up. Don’t think you can scare me-”

“I don’t need your help. Let go!”

The more he shouted, the harder Jiang Ci pulled.

He grimaced in pain, tears streaming down his face.

It felt as if she was ripping his scalp right off.

He was already a ghost, yet somehow a living person could still yank his hair-and it hurt so much!

“Ugly woman, I’ll bite you to death!”

The sleazy man was furious, his resentment pouring from his soul in thickening black smoke.

He opened his bloody mouth wide and lunged at Jiang Ci’s hand to bite her.

Smack!

Jiang Ci showed him no mercy and slapped him hard.

The sleazy man flew several meters away.

His head buzzed, and it took a while for him to come to his senses-only to find his head had been slapped a full one hundred and eighty degrees around!

Before he could get up, Jiang Ci stomped on his face without hesitation.

“You bitch, if you’ve got guts, let me go and fight me face to face!”
The sleazy man was furious, his face distorted under her foot.

Jiang Ci looked into the distance and saw a figure in white leading a new soul away. She lazily snapped her fingers with a crisp sound.

White Impermanence heard the familiar voice and immediately drove a few new ghosts over with his Mourning Stick.

The sleazy man saw Lord Bai, and all his previous arrogance vanished. He hurriedly wailed and complained.

“Lord Bai! Lord Bai! This ugly freak assaulted a Yin Min. Please, Lord Bai, save me!”

He looked at White Impermanence with hope in his eyes.

As a Ghost messenger of the Underworld, Lord Bai would surely uphold justice for him!

No matter how fierce this wretch was, could she possibly be fiercer than Lord Bai?

Just watch-if Lord Bai doesn’t detain her soul, let her have a taste of death!

Under the sleazy man’s expectant gaze, White Impermanence actually ignored him, walked straight up to Jiang Ci, nodded slightly, and bowed respectfully. “My Lord.”

When the sleazy man heard him address her as “My Lord,” his face instantly turned ashen.

He had thought this ugly freak merely knew Lord Bai.

Never in his wildest dreams did he expect the dignified Ghost messenger, Lord Bai, to address her as “My Lord”!

What virtue or ability did she have to deserve such a title?

She was just a nobody!

“Take him away,” Jiang Ci said, nudging the sleazy man with her foot.

White Impermanence smiled slightly. “Yes, My Lord.”

“Lord Bai, you can’t shield a living person and take her orders! I’m a Yin Min, you have to protect me!” The sleazy man had a bad feeling.

White Impermanence snorted coldly. “Only those who abide by the law are Yin Min. You? With that vicious look, you don’t seem like a good person at all.”

Jiang Ci said, “His lifespan in the Mortal Realm isn’t over yet. No need to take him to the Underworld.”

White Impermanence was stunned. “Ah, no judgment in the Underworld? Then should I just throw him straight into Hell?”

Jiang Ci curled her pale lips. “Doesn’t he like barking like a dog? Tie him up at the Gate of Ghosts. Any soul entering the gate, good or bad, can slap him across the face. When his lifespan is up, send him to the Tongue-Pulling Hell.”

Coincidentally, the Gate of Ghosts was short of a dog.

A yapping barker was just right.

White Impermanence laughed. “At least ten thousand souls pass through the Gate of Ghosts every day.”

Hearing this, the sleazy man’s face was left with nothing but terror. He trembled all over, and the resentment that had been rising from him instantly dissipated in fear.

“My Lord… My Lord, I was wrong. I truly know my mistake. Please don’t punish me like this, okay? I don’t want to go to the Underworld… I-I would rather be a Wandering Ghost in the Mortal Realm forever…”

White Impermanence gave him no chance to escape. With a swing of the Mourning Stick, the man became like a puppet with its strings cut, unable to struggle. He watched helplessly as his own clumsy hands and feet rejoined the line, was taken away by Lord Bai, and tied up at the Gate of Ghosts, where he would be slapped at least ten thousand times a day.

Jiang Ci felt no sympathy for people like him.

They were abusers lurking in the dark, always eager to stand atop the moral high ground, proclaiming their own righteousness, and using irresponsible words to hurt others at will.

Little did they know, every deed is seen by Heaven.

Every word of online abuse hurled at others would one day return to strike them like a boomerang.

As dawn broke, elderly men and women began arriving at the park to exercise.

Jiang Ci didn’t want to sleep in public without any regard for her image, so she simply walked back to the Jiang Family.

By the time she got home, it was already past nine in the morning.

The servants had already cleaned up all the broken glass and bloodstains.

When they saw Jiang Ci return, now with a hideous scar on her face, everyone lowered their heads in unison, not daring to meet her eyes.

Are you kidding? She was a lunatic!

A lunatic who would gouge out your eyeballs at the slightest provocation.

Only one person was an exception.

The live-in nanny, Nanny Zhang, stormed over in a fury and slapped Jiang Ci across the face.

“You little brat, where the hell have you been? Are you trying to kill me, you damn girl!”
