The Male Lead Is a Dog - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
I run a small pet grooming salon in a busy downtown area.
The shop is tiny, barely twenty square meters.
Thanks to a few regular customers, I manage to make ends meet.
However, I occasionally deal with freeloaders-like this one gorgeous Border Collie.
He comes in every single night for a bath and is incredibly picky.
He insists on being lathered twice and rinsed three times.
If I don’t do it enough times, he starts howling like he’s being abused.
He showed up again tonight. I have no idea what puddle he rolled in, but he was covered in filth from head to toe.
I sighed and picked up the showerhead.
“Laicai, what hole did you fall into this time?”
Laicai was the name I gave him.
It was a play on the saying: “A dog brings wealth, a cat brings riches.”
He shook the mud off his ears and jumped onto the grooming table with a serious expression. His eyes seemed to say: *Cut the chatter and start washing.*
I grumbled while adjusting the water temperature.
“Look at you. Why is a dog so obsessed with being clean?”
“Other dogs think once a month is too much, but you? You’re here every day like you’re clocking in for a shift.”
He shot me a glance that made me feel like he was judging me for being talkative.
“Fine, fine. I’m starting now.”
I resigned myself to my fate and picked up the shampoo.
“The usual today? Two lathers, three rinses?”
He nodded with satisfaction and lifted his front paw for me to rinse.
Halfway through the bath, a line of text suddenly floated across my vision.
[Even though the Male Lead has turned into a dog, his germaphobia is real. What kind of dog gets a bath every day?]
My hand jerked, and I nearly dropped the showerhead.
I blinked, and the text vanished.
A hallucination?
I shook my head and went back to work.
But a moment later, another line of text drifted by.
[Too bad that as soon as he leaves the shop, he’s going to get hit by a car and then be rescued by the Female Lead.]
My heart skipped a beat.
Hit by a car?
Female Lead?
Before I could process this, a third Danmu appeared.
[Not only that, once he turns back into a human, he gives the Female Lead eighty million to repay her for saving his life.]
Eighty… eighty million?
I stared wide-eyed at the Border Collie currently shaking water everywhere.
This thing is worth eighty million?
Laicai seemed to sense my odd behavior. He tilted his head at me, his large eyes filled with confusion.
He picked up the hair dryer with his mouth and shoved it into my hand, signaling for me to get on with it.
I took it numbly, my fingers trembling slightly.
As the warm air blew, I brushed his fur in a daze, my mind drifting far away.
Those floating Danmu said my world was actually a romance novel.
They said this Border Collie, who came for a bath every day and had a touch of OCD, was actually the legendary, cold-blooded CEO of the Leng Group-Leng Yanzhou.
The business tycoon who had suddenly vanished three months ago had actually been cursed to turn into a dog?
Even more absurdly, according to the Danmu, he was supposed to get hit by a car after leaving today and be saved by a girl.
Leng Yanzhou, who had never felt warmth in his life, would then fall hopelessly in love with this kind Female Lead.
The day he regained his human form, he would personally hand over an eighty-million-dollar check as a thank-you gift.
That’s just too ridiculous, right?!
But the figure of eighty million still made me drool in spite of myself.
Forgive my ignorance, but I have truly never seen eighty million in my life.
So, when the opportunity presented itself, I didn’t hesitate to grab… Laicai’s tail as he headed for the door.
“Ahem.”
I cleared my throat.
“Look, you’ve used twelve deluxe grooming packages at my place over the last three months. At market price, that comes to twenty-four hundred yuan.”
Laicai’s ears twitched. He looked at me with a shocked expression, as if he couldn’t believe I actually had the nerve to settle the bill with him.
