The Mermaid Asks for Love - Chapter 2
I brought it home.
This continent is surrounded by seas on all sides, and I live in the Far North of the North.
Few people ever come here, yet the waters are lively.
Especially at night, whenever I am refining Magic Stones late into the night, I can see the curious eyes of sea creatures outside the large floor-to-ceiling window.
They are very interested in the faintly glowing Magic Stones.
So I hung many Magic Stones of various shapes by the window.
When the evening breeze stirs them, those sea creatures become excited, frolicking and playing.
Some even push shells and corals beneath the eaves, offering them to me.
Clearly, these are things called objects, yet they are so pure and kind it’s almost unbelievable.
I brought the Mermaid home, and it remained quiet and well-behaved.
Until I tossed it straight into the sea.
It poked its head out of the water, looking confused.
People hunt Mermaids-those with good appearance are sold to magicians as ornaments, while those less attractive are dismantled for useful parts, used to refine Magic Stones or potions.
Setting it free is not a solution, because one day it will be caught again.
The humans of this continent have become obsessed with hunting Mermaids.
I said calmly, “Go play, this sea is your backyard.”
No one will come here, and no one can come here.
Because on this continent, no one is stronger than me.
This area belongs to me.
