This Little Snake Just Wants to Survive - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Long Fu’s low, raspy voice, tinged with dissatisfaction, pressed against my ear.
“Why won’t you ever turn on the lights?”
My eyes were wet as I shook my head, forgetting for a moment that he couldn’t see me in the darkness.
When I didn’t respond, Long Fu let out a sharp click of his tongue.
He reached out from behind to touch my face, only for his hand to meet a trail of tears.
“What are you crying for? If you can’t even handle this much, how did you have the nerve to seduce me into dual cultivation in the first place?”
My voice trembled. “…I’m sorry.”
The dragon qi radiating from Long Fu was too overbearing. As a mere snake, I truly couldn’t endure it.
I clutched his sleeve, pleading for mercy, but I only received four ruthless words in return:
“If it hurts, bear it.”
And yet, his movements clearly became much gentler.
As we neared the end, Long Fu tried to turn on the light again.
I gripped his arm with all my might.
I couldn’t let him turn on the light.
He would find out.
Long Fu’s voice turned cold. “Xie Zhou, do you really hate looking at my face that much?”
So, I deliberately said something cruel.
“That’s right, Long Fu. With the kind of relationship we have, turning on the lights just ruins the fun.”
The air turned frigid for a heartbeat.
Long Fu ground his teeth. “Fine, Xie Zhou. You really are heartless.”
He bit down hard on the back of my neck, as if venting his fury.
I bit into the pillowcase, unable to stop my tears from falling.
It hurt, but I had brought this on myself.
Long Fu didn’t know.
I wasn’t actually a dragon.
I was just a little snake demon who had disguised himself as a dragon and seduced the Dragon Prince all for the sake of cultivation.
And he hated snakes more than anything.
I am a snake demon.
Born sickly and destined for a short life, I wasn’t supposed to live past twenty-two.
My brother searched everywhere for a way to extend my life.
When I turned twenty, he finally found one-dual cultivation with the Dragon Prince.
The Dragon Prince’s cultivation and dragon qi were incredibly nourishing; even a small amount could sustain my life.
After discovering that Long Fu was at the Dragon Clan Academy, my brother used his connections to smuggle me in, disguised as a dragon.
“Xiao Zhou, remember, dragons and snakes have never gotten along. Whatever you do, don’t let them find out you’re a snake.”
I nodded.
The Dragon Prince was tall, his presence radiating an intimidating dragon qi, and his features were strikingly handsome.
Many dragons threw themselves at him, one after another.
I couldn’t find a single opportunity to get close to him.
At the academy, as a snake demon, I wasn’t as tall or sturdy as the dragons.
Even though I wore a pair of fake dragon horns, I was constantly mocked and bullied by the others.
“You’re so weak, Xie Zhou. Are you really a dragon?”
“Hahaha, look at his pathetic, cowardly face.”
“…”
It was Long Fu who saved me when I was cornered and being bullied.
He looked down at me and reached out a hand.
“Can you stand up?”
My eyes widened, and I cautiously took his hand.
His large palm was warm and dry. The dragon qi and cultivation overflowing from him made my entire body shiver.
My heart began to beat erratically.
In that moment, I knew.
It felt like I might be able to survive after all.
After that, Long Fu and I became good friends.
He took great care of me.
Sometimes he would drape an arm over my shoulder and ask, “Xie Zhou, why is your body always so cold? It feels really good to lean against you.”
My Adam’s apple bobbed nervously. “It’s because I’m a flood dragon.”
In reality, it was because snakes have a lower body temperature.
Long Fu arched an eyebrow, his dark eyes staring straight at me. “Is that so?”
I didn’t dare look at him.
He didn’t press for an answer, but he pulled me even closer.
My face felt hot, and my heart raced uncontrollably.
So close.
Long Fu was so warm.
