Huayu Community.

It was already evening, but when the police arrived, the interviewee was very cooperative.

During the actual questioning, the police waited outside, while Sheng An, Hao Jingye, and the interviewee were in the room.

The researcher who had made the post was named Song Linwei, and at the moment, his face was filled with excitement.

Sheng An hadn’t even started the interview when he couldn’t wait to speak:

“Has it already been confirmed that the Apocalypse is coming? The police don’t believe me, but you must be from a higher authority, right?”

Sheng An remained expressionless and did not answer. Instead, she casually asked,

“You really believe in that so-called Iron Man?”

Song Linwei laughed. “You keep coming back to confirm things with me. Isn’t that because something unusual is going on? If everything were calm, that post wouldn’t have attracted your attention, would it?”

A doomsday warning post drew attention. The police didn’t believe him at all, but still questioned him again and again.

Tonight, people with clearly higher authority had come for further questioning. The police stayed outside, while the three of them were inside.

How could there be no problem?

Sheng An looked up at him.

This man was very smart, and his mind was clear. Judging by all his reactions, he was completely in control of his faculties.

Which meant he wasn’t crazy, nor was he speaking nonsense.

Sheng An put the transcript she was holding on the table and suddenly asked, “What kind of research do you do?”

Song Linwei clearly hadn’t expected this question.

He paused, then answered honestly, “Physics-related.”

Sheng An nodded. “Then you must be someone who believes in science. I’m really curious-how did that Iron Man make you believe him?”

She leaned forward, staring at him intently.

Song Linwei replied, “His very existence is already unscientific.”

He pointed to his eyes. “And I saw him with my own eyes.”

Sheng An made no comment. She slowly sat back, leaning against the sofa with a faint smile.

“Alright, then Mr. Song, can you tell me-what did the ‘Iron Man’ you saw look like?”

The smile faded from Song Linwei’s face.

He frowned. “I’ve already told the police.”

“I want to hear it from you personally,” Sheng An said, still smiling.

Song Linwei shrugged and sighed.

“Alright, I’ll say it again. Yesterday morning, before I left for work, I suddenly noticed something flash outside my window. I’m quite sensitive, so I went to take a look.

“I saw Iron Man, a figure completely golden. No, I should say a humanoid form. He was clinging to the outside of my window, and I was face-to-face with him.”

“You couldn’t see his features clearly?” Hao Jingye asked.

Song Linwei shook his head. “Rather than a golden person, it was more like a humanoid made of metal. If you saw it, you’d immediately sense something was off. It was very unusual.”

Sheng An asked, “What did you say to each other?”

Song Linwei replied, “I was startled and stepped back several times. My instinct was to grab a broom to hit him, but he suddenly spoke, saying he was Iron Man…”

Sheng An’s eyebrow twitched.

Hao Jingye also frowned deeply.

“He really did look like Iron Man, made of real steel. I said I was going to call the police, and he said the Apocalypse was coming, so what was the point of calling the police? If I had time, I should stock up on supplies.” Song Linwei sighed.

“So that’s why you’re convinced the Apocalypse is coming?”

“Such a strange thing happened, and together with the meteorite problem, is it so strange to suspect the Apocalypse?”

“Not at all. You’re very smart.” Sheng An shook her head. “You could tell Iron Man was male, but what about his age?”

Song Linwei shook his head. “I couldn’t tell his age.”

He sighed again and looked at Sheng An. “I’ve told you everything I know. That Iron Man is real. If you saw him, you’d be shocked too.”

“But we haven’t seen him,” Sheng An said with a gentle smile, her eyes unreadable. “Are you sure you have nothing else to say?”

Song Linwei shook his head. “Nothing.”

As if remembering something, he leaned forward, looking troubled. “Iron Man seems very confident you can’t catch him. Can you catch him?”

“Do you want us to catch him?” Sheng An asked in return.

“Of course I do. I want to know more. The Apocalypse… will it really come?”

He looked at them, pressed his lips together, and asked softly, “So, can you tell me-is the Apocalypse real?”

He asked cautiously, full of anxiety.

Hao Jingye was about to shake his head.

Sheng An suddenly said, “Yes. In twenty days, the meteorite will strike, the Apocalypse will arrive, and the world will face a catastrophic disaster.”

Song Linwei’s pupils dilated in shock.
Hao Jingye was also surprised, clearly not expecting Sheng An to speak up.

Song Linwei lost his composure for a moment; his face flashed with shock, confusion, and a dawning despair.

His whole body slumped, his voice hoarse: “As expected.”

Sheng An said, “Now that you know, what are your plans next?”

Song Linwei shook his head, his eyes vacant: “I don’t know. The end of the world is coming-what plans could there be?”

He took a deep breath, licked his dry lips, “Don’t worry, I’ll keep it secret.”

There was nothing more to ask here.

Sheng An stood up, “Then we’ll leave for now. Mr. Song, if you have any further information, please remember to contact us.”

Song Linwei nodded and saw them out.

Hao Jingye’s face was full of confusion.

As soon as they stepped outside, he immediately lowered his voice and asked, “Sister Sheng, why did you tell him?”

The news about the apocalypse was still under lockdown; logically, it shouldn’t be disclosed so casually.

There were police nearby as well. Sheng An shook her head and didn’t answer.

The two were led to another household.

Sheng An raised her brows, “Are these two neighboring buildings?”

Hao Jingye nodded, lowering his voice: “Yes, they’re adjacent. That’s why the information about Iron Man’s appearance seems a bit more credible.”

This household was a child, and Sheng An didn’t ask many questions.

“Little one, what did the Iron Man you saw look like?” Sheng An asked gently.

The child thought for a moment, pouting: “He’s nothing like on TV. He’s really annoying!”

“Oh? How is he annoying?”

“He took my Ultraman!” The child was on the verge of tears.

“He’s so mean!”

Sheng An squatted down, took a delicate Ultraman from her bag, and smiled: “How about Auntie gives you this Ultraman?”

The child’s eyes lit up and he immediately grabbed it.

He looked at Sheng An, his eyes sparkling: “Thank you, big sister.”

Sheng An patted his head, her smile growing gentler:

“So cute. Can you tell me what he really looked like? And what did he say to you? Tell me everything, and we’ll help you find him and get your Ultraman back.”

Hearing this, the child’s eyes grew even brighter. He clutched the Ultraman tightly and nodded vigorously.

The child tried hard to recall.

But children’s logic is weak, and his story was scattered. Sheng An and Hao Jingye pieced together the fragments:

Yesterday, the child was locked at home and suddenly heard something at the window.

He couldn’t open the window, but he drew back the curtains.

He saw a sparkling Iron Man.

He asked, “Who are you?”

-Brave kid, not scared at all.

The “Iron Man” outside heard him and simply opened the window.

He suddenly jumped in, and the child burst into tears.

“Iron Man” ignored him, only saying, “Stop crying, you’re so annoying.”

Then he saw the Ultraman figurine on the wall.

“Iron Man” asked the child, “Do you believe in light?”

The child was already scared and just kept crying.

The man pouted, said something the child couldn’t remember, and left with the Ultraman.

Hao Jingye pressed, “Little one, you really don’t remember what he said?”

The child shook his head.

He was too busy crying to remember.

Hao Jingye sighed.

Sheng An patted the child’s head, checked the handprint, and then left with Hao Jingye.

Outside the residential complex.

The two said goodbye to the police and got into their car.

Hao Jingye said, “Their stories overlap a lot, and these two don’t know each other or have any contact. The child’s account is a bit different, but the key details match-it’s the truth. Looks like ‘Iron Man’… might be real.”

“He is real-a Metal Superpower User.”

Sheng An started the car, her expression calm: “Keep investigating Song Linwei. Check his living environment, family situation, family members, relatives, and everyone he’s interacted with in the past three days. Organize it all for me.”

Hao Jingye was surprised: “You suspect him?”

He sat up straight, anxious: “Is there something wrong with Song Linwei? No matter how many times he’s questioned, his answers are always the same, and he doesn’t seem to be lying.”

Sheng An telling Song Linwei about the ‘apocalypse’ had already shocked Hao Jingye.

Now, hearing this, he sensed her different reaction.

Sheng An smiled: “He really isn’t lying, but he’s definitely hiding something selectively.”

“Could he be that Metal Superpower User?!” Hao Jingye guessed boldly.
