Novel Info

I was momentarily at a loss for words.

Yu Yanchen’s mother was a hopeless romantic, who, by a twist of fate, married Yu Xun.

After marriage, Yu Xun only gave her money, but what she wanted was love.

One chased, the other fled.

In the end, Yu Yanchen’s mother fell ill and soon passed away in her prime.

After her death, Yu Xun was despondent for a while, then met the original Mrs. Yu, and hastily married her-a gold-digger who resembled Yu Yanchen’s mother.

I don’t know exactly what illness his mother had, or how she died.

But I do know that for a child to watch his mother die in loneliness, unable to find any trace of his father, must be a heartbreaking thing.

No wonder that when Yu Yanchen grew up, he sent Yu Xun to a mental hospital and refused any visitors.

That was already the greatest kindness he could offer in this life.

That day, Yu Yanchen and I stayed in the Dark Room for several hours.

When Uncle Zhang finally opened the door, the light outside was so bright it hurt my eyes.

I reached out to shield Yu Yanchen’s eyes.

Uncle Zhang was polite in manner, but there was a sharp, mocking coldness in his gaze.

“Madam, you are truly kind-hearted. However, you should mind your own business first. I have already reported today’s events to Sir. He told me that if you interfere again next time, I can lock you up together.”

Wonderful!

He answers the Butler’s calls, but not mine.

It seems the original Mrs. Yu really was just a decorative piece Yu Xun brought home.

I shot him a cold glare, then carried the already sleeping Yu Yanchen out.

But Uncle Zhang yanked Yu Yanchen from my arms and set him on the ground.

Yu Yanchen, groggy and dazed from being woken up, could barely stand. He rubbed his eyes and glared angrily at Uncle Zhang.

Uncle Zhang said solemnly, “Young Master, you are already seven years old. You must learn to be independent. You can’t let adults carry you anymore, especially not women.”

Rage surged up from my chest.

Now I finally understood why, when grown, Yu Yanchen was called the Buddha’s Son, cold and distant, keeping women at arm’s length. It was because, from childhood, someone had taught him to despise and trample on women.

To reason with such a cancer would be an insult to reason itself.

I strode over to a table, grabbed a vase, and smashed it hard at Uncle Zhang.

Fueled by anger, my aim was deadly accurate.

Uncle Zhang’s head split open, blood trickling down his forehead.

He stared at me in disbelief, as if unable to comprehend that a newcomer like me would dare challenge his authority.

I sneered, “Oh, go complain to Yu Xun. Tell him I hit you. Or call the police and see if, after you disgrace the Yu Family, Yu Xun will keep you, his employee of over twenty years! Or you can hit me-so long as you don’t kill me, I’ll go to the media and expose everything, and see if Yu Xun fires you or divorces me.”

I’ve figured it out: the position of Mrs. Yu is already mine.

It’s easy to get a marriage certificate, but hard to get a divorce certificate.

There can only be one person in charge in this house.

If I compromise, I’ll end up colluding with them just like the original Mrs. Yu.

But I refuse!

They have only two choices: obey me, or get out!

Uncle Zhang’s face darkened, his gaze fixed on me like an enraged beast.

I picked up Yu Yanchen again and slowly walked toward the main door.

Uncle Zhang blocked my way, his expression grim.

“Madam, where are you taking the Young Master?”
