I let out a mocking laugh, staring at him with a half-smile, saying nothing, just staring.

A gaze is a kind of power.

A stare is a kind of threat.

If I really answered him, I’d be giving him a chance to refute me.

I said nothing, letting him stew in his own thoughts, letting him lose his composure first.

Sure enough, Uncle Zhang gritted his teeth and said, “Madam, I didn’t mean anything else.”

“No matter what you’re thinking, you’d better behave yourself. If I can make Yu Xun marry me, I can also make him fire you. Try me if you don’t believe it. My phone fell in the room, go get it for me.”

I ordered him bluntly.

Uncle Zhang didn’t move.

I sneered, “You won’t listen to me? Old employee!”

Uncle Zhang turned around to fetch it.

I seized the chance and kicked him in the butt, shoving him into the Dark Room, then closed the door.

A frenzy of banging came from inside.

However, the door was soundproofed, so the noise was already very faint.

Yu Yanchen’s eyes widened, a flash of excitement in his gaze, but he said, “Is this… is this really okay?”

“Are you happy?”

“Happy… but this isn’t right. Mom says we shouldn’t treat people like this.”

Yu Yanchen’s mind was clearly in turmoil.

His mother is a kind-hearted romantic.

Other than chasing after Yu Xun and getting herself into trouble, she hasn’t done anything bad.

So the child she raised even feels bad about taking revenge on others.

I blinked, turning into a weak little green tea bitch.

“But he bullied us… He locked us up for hours, I’m tired and hungry, and he looks down on women. Do you think he’s right?”

“No.”

“Exactly. When a child does something wrong, adults punish the child. He did something wrong, so we punish him. That’s fair, isn’t it?”

“Yes.”

Yu Yanchen was convinced.

He became calm.

Or maybe, deep down, he’d wanted to get back at Uncle Zhang countless times, but never found anyone to support him. Today, with my help, he finally let out his anger.

I think that’s great.

I had one of the servants notify everyone that the villa would be on holiday for three days.

Everyone left happily.

Only Aunt Zhou, who cooked, suspiciously asked why Uncle Zhang wasn’t around.

I looked at her coldly.

“You need him for something?”

“Usually it’s Old Zhang who tells us about these things.”

I looked at her with a half-smile.

“So you mean you listen to Old Zhang, not me? Does Old Zhang pay your salary? I just told Old Zhang something, and now I’ll tell you too: If I have the ability to make Yu Xun marry me, I also have the ability to get him to fire you. Who’s the owner of this house? Think carefully.”

Aunt Zhou’s face turned ugly as she packed up and left.

Yu Yanchen looked a little worried.

“Sister Lili, Dad really trusts Aunt Zhou and Uncle Zhang. They’ll complain, and Dad will give you trouble.”

“Let’s see if he can find us first.”

I packed a few clothes, dragged a suitcase, and put Yu Yanchen on top, pushing him out the door.

He probably had never sat on a suitcase before, and was very stiff.

His slender fingers gripped the handle tightly, trying hard to sit up straight, afraid of falling off and losing face.

I wanted to laugh, but more than that, I felt sorry for him.
“Has your mom ever taken you on a trip?”

“No, my mom always waits at home for my dad.”

That’s what being lovesick is like. When you can’t reach the other person by phone, you just stay at home, afraid you’ll miss them coming back if you leave. But in reality, the other person doesn’t want to come home at all, afraid of being entangled once they do.

Life passes by in endless internal struggle.

In the end, you let the other person go, but wear yourself out.

All that’s left is a pitiful child, motherless, unloved by his father, twisted and forced into something abnormal by others.

“Sister Lili will take you traveling. Hold on tight, steady yourself…”

I pushed the suitcase and ran ahead.

Yu Yanchen giggled.

His little milky voice was so pleasant.

I called a taxi, withdrew some cash, booked a discounted hotel on Xianyu, checked in using someone else’s ID, and moved in with Yu Yanchen.

I did this mainly to avoid being easily found by Yu Xun.

Since Yu Xun didn’t want to answer my calls, then let him be. He’d be anxious later.

Over the next few days, I took Yu Yanchen to all the famous spots in the city and nearby.

We rode the carousel, visited the aquarium, tried local delicacies, soaked in hot springs, had water fights, climbed mountains, and had a blast.

During this time, Yu Xun’s Assistant called me. I answered, asked for his name, saved it with a note, told him to find time to get Uncle Zhang released, and then blocked him.

Finally, Yu Xun was willing to call me himself.

I let him enjoy being rejected a few times, made him listen to the busy tone, and the pent-up frustration in my heart completely dissipated.

Yu Yanchen seemed a little worried.

He glanced at me again and again, finally unable to hold back his question.

“Sister Lili, aren’t you afraid of my dad?”

“No. Is he that scary?”

Yu Yanchen was silent for a moment.

“Mom is very afraid of Dad. When Dad comes home, he doesn’t say a word. He just frowns at Mom.”

That’s emotional coldness.

When Yu Yanchen was little, he clearly didn’t like his father’s ways, but as he grew up, he became exactly like him-maybe even worse.

Cold violence, disrespect, distrust, stubbornness, egotism, and finally, regret.

So, as a woman, choosing a good father for your child is the most precious act of love.

I rubbed his fluffy little head.

“So you have to smile at me often. You’re the only familiar face I have at home. Everyone else bullies me, your dad won’t even answer my calls. If you stop talking to me and treat me coldly, I’ll be so sad my heart will break.”

“I promise I’ll smile at you every day.” His little face was solemn.

I quickly stuck out my pinky. “Let’s pinky swear.”

Yu Yanchen looked a bit confused. He awkwardly extended his finger, and I hooked mine around his, chanting, “Pinky swear, hang it up, never break it for a hundred years.” But my heart sank.

He didn’t even know how to do this.

He’s already a first grader.

How does he get by at school?

Just then, a cold, suppressed voice full of anger sounded behind me.

“Zhang Lili! What are you doing?”

I looked up and saw Yu Xun.

Ha!

The man who said he’d be away on business for three months was back in just four days.

What a quick trip.
