When I Hold the Dog Training Script - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
It was my first day in the Beast World.
I had just learned my new identity.
[Host, you are about to enter an arranged marriage with the Wolf-type youth, Qi Lie.]
I looked at the subtitles appearing in the air and asked earnestly, “So, what is my relationship with Qi Lie right now?”
[You have never met; there is no affection between you.]
[In Qi Lie’s heart, you are delicate and weak. His current Favorability toward you is -100.]
Me: “?”
I was starting on hell mode.
[Host, you have been assigned the ‘Dog Training’ script. Please follow your character persona and avoid going Out Of Character.]
The System hurriedly finished its piece and went offline.
A delicate female lead getting a dog training script?
I sighed inwardly.
How did the System know I majored in animal husbandry?
Talk about a perfect professional match.
Before I could think more about the System’s words, someone called out to me.
“Miss Ruan.”
A maid hurried over, looking apologetic. “I forgot this is your first time at the Qi Family estate. You must not know the way.”
“Please, follow me.”
The Qi Family lived in a manor-style mansion located on the outskirts of the city. It was grand and magnificent, surrounded by lush greenery.
The maid led the way, introducing the place as we walked.
“The young master is still training at the Mecha Academy; he will be back a bit late.”
“The Master mentioned that if Miss Ruan arrived, she is free to wander around.”
I nodded quickly and thanked her.
Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a few dark shadows lurking behind me.
I dismissed the maid and, catching the shadows off guard, took a few quick strides forward.
I lunged and grabbed one in each hand.
“Put me down!”
The two little things struggled in my grip. “Bad beast! Bad beast!”
I looked down at them.
Only then did I realize they were two unweaned wolf cubs.
They hadn’t taken human form yet and were covered in fluffy, silver-gray fur.
They bared their tiny claws and teeth in a futile attempt to intimidate me, but in my eyes, they were just being adorable.
“Who are you two?” I asked with a smile. “Are you Qi Lie’s younger brother and sister?”
The two little ones’ ears drooped.
They glanced at each other and let out a weak, pitiful whimper of affirmation.
The maid had told me earlier.
Qi Lie’s younger siblings were born just before their parents encountered star pirates during a trip. Their bodies were never recovered.
The only adult males left in the family were Qi Lie and his grandfather.
His grandfather was well advanced in years, so the burden of caring for the twins fell entirely on Qi Lie.
The marriage arrangement with the Ruan Family was made because the Ruans were old friends of the Qi Family and wanted to help out.
The Qi Family lacked a gentle mistress.
However, Qi Lie was extremely repulsed by me and had rejected the idea without a second thought.
Even his younger siblings had likely been influenced by his prejudice.
“This is the first time we’ve met. Why do you think I’m a villain?”
I teased the soft fur on their bellies.
The two little ones burst into giggles, squirming together.
They looked up at me with watery eyes and said in milky voices, “Because you’re very pretty.”
“Big Brother said that the prettier a sister is, the better she is at lying.”
To train a dog, one must first start with his familiar environment.
I picked up a wolf cub in each arm and spoke softly.
“Big Brother doesn’t usually play hide-and-seek with you, does he?”
“I’ll play with you.”
…
Qi Lie had just returned from the academy.
The steward informed him that the eldest Miss of the Ruan Family had been there for a while.
“Then let her wait.”
Qi Lie tossed the words out indifferently. Without even greeting her, he headed straight for his bedroom upstairs.
He had heard of Ruan Li long ago.
Supposedly, she was a pampered young lady spoiled by the Ruan Family.
If she wanted something, she demanded the Ruan Family deliver it to her the very next second.
She only traveled by aircraft and would complain if she had to walk even a few extra steps.
He had no desire to marry a woman like that.
He wasn’t looking to marry an ancestor to worship.
After showering and changing, about an hour later, Qi Lie finally got up and walked downstairs at a leisurely pace.
Today, he had specifically instructed his younger siblings.
If they met a strange woman, they were to make things difficult for her.
If they made her cry, they could have an extra bowl of sweet milk for their evening snack.
If they chased her away, he would take a day off tomorrow to bring them to the amusement park.
Sure enough, the living room downstairs was noisy.
This was exactly what Qi Lie expected.
He sneered inwardly: Today, the eldest Miss of the Ruan Family would learn what he was capable of.
However, when he saw the scene in the living room, he froze.
The two little tyrants of the house were currently clinging to Ruan Li, vying for her attention.
“Sister, I want a flower too.”
“You just had a flower! I haven’t had one yet!”
Surrounded by the two wolf cubs, the young woman sat with her head bowed, smiling.
She revealed a fair neck and soft, gentle features.
Hearing footsteps, she looked up at him.
Her eyes were full of smiles, but to Qi Lie, it looked like a provocation.
Qi Lie’s face darkened. “Qi Yan, Qi Yin-”
The two wolf cubs jumped as if their tails had been stepped on. “Big Brother!”
Qi Lie suppressed his anger, his voice low as he nearly gritted his teeth. “What did I tell you before I left today?”
The twins looked at each other.
“You said to be good, to sleep well, and to exercise hard.”
Qi Lie: “…”
Forget it. These two barely had the IQ for a Cub Kindergarten; asking them to pull off a scheme was asking too much.
He didn’t even spare Ruan Li a glance as he turned toward the kitchen, not forgetting to give orders.
“Clean up your toys. I’m going to make dinner for you.”
Ruan Li suddenly spoke up, interrupting him.
“Qi Lie, don’t bother.”
Her voice was sweet and clear, reminiscent of candy wrapped in colorful cellophane.
“I’ve already made it for them.”
Who would want to eat anything you made?
Qi Lie didn’t bother to acknowledge her.
He had been taking care of these two siblings since they were born.
The family had gone through three maids and chefs, and the two little cubs weren’t used to eating food made by anyone else.
“Qi Yan and his sister aren’t used to eating food made by outsiders.”
Qi Lie mocked her nonchalantly, looking down as he began to wash the utensils.
“Miss Ruan, don’t waste your energy.”
However, after a long while, there was no movement from the living room.
An ill omen suddenly rose in Qi Lie’s heart.
“Big Brother-”
The milky, urgent voices of his siblings drifted from ahead. “What are you fussing around in the kitchen for?”
“If you’re not going to eat, then we’re starting without you!”
Qi Lie: “?”
