Novel Info

The Stairs constructed from dense white bones extended down to the first floor, where a thick darkness lingered at the bottom, making it impossible to see what lay beneath.

Su Xiaoxiao was standing at the head of the Stairs, her gaze lowered. From a distance, the intertwining bones appeared ghostly pale, and when looking closer, it was clear that the handrails were formed from femurs, the steps from vertebrae and skulls, even the lamp at the landing was a hollowed-out rib cage containing a mass of phosphorescent fire.

A faint chill spread along the bones, crawling quietly onto Su Xiaoxiao’s body.

She reached out, gently touching the bony handrail, feeling the chilling sensation seeping through her fingers. She lowered her eyes, lost in thought, when suddenly, the Life-Saving Talisman she wore around her neck emitted a faint glow, as if warning her.

Just then, a scream echoed from the first floor. The mournful wail pierced the silence, immediately followed by heavy, quick footsteps clattering up the Stairs. Accompanying them was the dense scent of blood.

“Help! There’s a Ghost-”

The man in the white shirt, his left arm already broken, stumbled up the Stairs in terror. Behind him, a mass of black water surged up, a pair of green, ghostly eyes emerging from the darkness.

“Water Ghost! Great Ghost!”

The survivors on the landing shrank back, pale and trembling, not daring to move forward. The only exception was Su Xiaoxiao. She quietly observed the incoming Water Ghost, while at her feet, the Cleansing Fish was swimming in midair, its scales shimmering in icy blue light, exuding a calm that stood in sharp contrast to the chaos around.

“Go away! Or I’ll kill you!” The man clutched the Life-Saving Talisman and roared, desperately brandishing it toward the Water Ghost.

But the Water Ghost ignored him. The Life-Saving Talisman in the man’s hand flared up, but the Life-Saving Talisman could only invalidate the attacks of Great Ghosts and Lesser Ghosts for three minutes, not eliminate them entirely.

The Water Ghost’s blackened hands reached out, grabbing the man’s ankle, and tried to drag him down the Stairs. His broken arm left a bloody trail.

Seeing this, Su Xiaoxiao’s gaze flickered, and with a flick of her wrist, the Help Me Die Koi in her hand darted out. The Cleansing Fish turned into a streak of blue, its scales glimmering as it landed precisely on the Water Ghost’s hand.

“Chirp-”

A crisp sound rang out. The Water Ghost’s hand was instantly purified, the filth and resentment dissipating. The Water Ghost recoiled in pain, and the Cleansing Fish flipped back into Su Xiaoxiao’s palm, rubbing against her fingertips as if seeking praise.

“Good job,” Su Xiaoxiao said softly.

The man named Liu Fei was stunned. He had heard rumors that Su Xiaoxiao was a powerhouse among the players of the Horror Game, but now he witnessed her abilities firsthand-her control over the Cleansing Fish, and the effortless way she dealt with Ghosts.

Before he could express his gratitude, a new threat appeared. The pale-white bones of the Stairs suddenly shifted, a long bony arm extending from the handrail, grabbing at his shoulder.

“Staircase Skeleton Ghost!”

The others gasped. Among all the Ghosts in the building, the Staircase Skeleton Ghost was second only to the Death Clown, known for controlling the elevators and Stairs and preying on unwary players.

Yet, just as the bony hand was about to seize Liu Fei, Su Xiaoxiao stepped forward, her figure blocking the attack. Her presence seemed to exert an overwhelming pressure, causing the Staircase Skeleton Ghost to freeze, its hollow eyesockets fixed on her.

The Cleansing Fish floated beside her, flicking its tail. The oppressive aura vanished instantly.

In the silence, the players’ Player Personal Information Panel popped up before their eyes, displaying a new message: “Congratulations to player Su Xiaoxiao for successfully activating the Player Personal Information Panel.”

The others looked at Su Xiaoxiao, fear and awe in their eyes. Only she stood calm and indifferent, as if nothing in the Horror Game could faze her.

As the tension on the Stairs eased, a Ponytail Woman quietly approached the Death Clown on the first floor, presenting a gleaming dagger. The Death Clown, whose hands were stained with blood, paused in his preparation of braised chicken legs and accepted the offering with a chilling grin.

Everyone realized: In this place filled with Ghosts, only the truly strong could survive.

[Charisma: 7→8]

[Luck: ? (+3)]

[Items: Help Me Die Koi (In Use)]

I’m so weak…

That was Su Xiaoxiao’s first and most direct feeling after reading her panel.

Then Su Xiaoxiao checked herself, and felt nothing had changed.

The only obvious difference was that her clothes were cleaner.

Luck +3. I hope you’ll help me die soon.

Su Xiaoxiao held high hopes for the Help Me Die Koi.

At this moment, the Ponytail Woman also walked over.

She imitated Liu Fei’s posture, and respectfully said to the Death Clown, “Captain, I also have an item I wish to offer you.”

As she spoke, a small dagger appeared out of thin air in the Ponytail Woman’s hand.

The small dagger was exquisite.

There was even a red gemstone engraved on it.

In terms of looks, it was very high.

The moment the Death Clown saw the Ponytail Woman pull out the dagger, he instantly frowned.

If this dagger were given to Xiaoxiao, and Xiaoxiao happened to die by this dagger later, wouldn’t it be his fault?

Xiaoxiao is just a young girl-wielding knives and weapons isn’t good.

The Death Clown also recalled when he first met Xiaoxiao, when she tried to stab him with Scissors.

This further strengthened the Death Clown’s resolve not to let Xiaoxiao possess dangerous weapons.

The instant Su Xiaoxiao saw the Ponytail Woman take out the dagger, her eyes were immediately drawn to it.

Su Xiaoxiao didn’t expect her luck boost to bring good fortune so quickly.

If she had this dagger, wouldn’t it be possible to accidentally kill herself with it when doing missions to seek death?

After all, she had no weapons on her. If possible, Su Xiaoxiao still wanted to have a weapon.

Just as the Death Clown was about to speak in a sinister tone to scare off the Ponytail Woman, Su Xiaoxiao spoke up before him.

“Can I have a look?”

The Ponytail Woman looked at Su Xiaoxiao, her eyes instantly showing joy. She could tell that the three Ghosts were centered around Su Xiaoxiao, so she agreed without hesitation.

“No problem!”

The Death Clown’s expression instantly turned as ugly as if he had eaten dung.

He really didn’t want Xiaoxiao to have that thing.

But seeing how much Xiaoxiao liked it, he couldn’t say anything else.

After Su Xiaoxiao got the dagger, information about the dagger appeared.

[Item: Red Dagger]

[Quality: D]

[Type: Weapon]

[Attack: 5~8]

[Special: None. It’s just a good-looking and sharp dagger. It can damage Ghosts, but not by much.]

The quality was only D, far below the Help Me Die Koi’s level.

But Su Xiaoxiao liked it very much.

Su Xiaoxiao looked at the Death Clown and asked, “Can I keep it?”

“No problem, Xiaoxiao. You can keep it, but you must be careful using it. Don’t hurt yourself.” The Death Clown forced a smile, but inwardly he was twitching.

“Mm, thank you.” Su Xiaoxiao replied seriously.

The Death Clown helplessly patted Su Xiaoxiao’s head, then turned to the Ponytail Woman. “You can also take tomorrow off. Go on.”

“Thank you, Captain!” The Ponytail Woman said gratefully, then left.

But what the Ponytail Woman didn’t know was that the Death Clown had already started thinking about how to kill her.

How dare she offer such a dangerous thing like a dagger to Xiaoxiao? Unforgivable!
