Chapter 3

Maybe my “latrine therapy” had actually worked.

Xie Shiyi behaved himself for the next few days, and to my surprise, he really did start shoveling manure in earnest.

On this particular day, the sky was clear and the air was fresh. He even took the initiative to brew me tea, saying he had been too impulsive that day.

“Shizun, please have some.”

He held the teacup with both hands, head lowered, looking every bit like an obedient disciple who had admitted his mistake.

[Alert! Alert! There is Heart-Corroding Powder in the tea!]

[Ancestor, don’t drink it! It’s poisoned! You’re a demon cultivator, sure, but this poison is vicious. Drinking it will still hurt like hell!]

I glanced at the subtitles, then at him.

I took the tea. Under his tense stare, I sniffed it.

Then I downed it in one gulp.

His pupils shrank sharply.

I smacked my lips and licked the corner of my mouth. “A little weak.”

He stumbled back a step in shock, unable to believe I was completely unharmed.

My true form was an ancient spirit cat, immune to all poisons.

This kind of childish toxin was barely enough for me to rinse my mouth with.

Before he could react, I flashed forward and grabbed his wrist.

My other hand clamped around his jaw.

“Shizun… what are you doing?”

“Shh.” I gave him a crooked smile. “Shizun is going to feed you something nice.”

I forced his mouth open. A drop of golden-red Demon Core blood essence condensed at my fingertip, and I flicked it into his throat.

“Mmph!”

The tyrannical power of an ancient demon exploded through his meridians in an instant, rampaging wildly.

Xie Shiyi collapsed to his knees, his face flushed, his whole body burning hot.

He curled up in pain.

I crouched in front of him and poked his butt.

“Playing with poison? You’re still far too green.”

“This drop of Shizun’s blood essence is highly nourishing. I’m giving you a little boost. No need to thank me.”

I watched him struggle until his eyes were about to roll back. Only then did I stroll over and send a bit of spiritual energy into him, helping him guide and calm that surge of demonic power.

Xie Shiyi lay sprawled on the ground, drenched in sweat and coughing violently.

[As expected of a demon cultivator! Wild enough!]

[This villain… kind of seems useless.]

When he looked up at me again, for the first time, there was fear and awe in his eyes.

Maybe he had finally realized that his Shizun was a lunatic even more unhinged than he was.

Half a month later, the sect’s minor secret realm opened.

I had not planned on going.

Spring makes you sleepy, summer makes you sluggish, autumn makes you drowsy, and winter was almost here. We cats are very fond of hibernating, too.

But the subtitles started spraying sparks in front of my eyes.

[High energy ahead! Secret realm! The villain’s first major opportunity, Netherworld Grass, is inside!]

[This grass can nourish his Demonic Bone. Once he gets it, his cultivation will soar!]

[Ancestor, hurry up and go! Stop him!]

The noise gave me a headache, so I simply followed him in.

Xie Shiyi clearly knew about the grass too.

The moment he entered the secret realm, he rushed straight toward a certain valley.

By the time he arrived, panting, he discovered that I had gotten there long ago.

I was lying beside the Netherworld Grass, using its broad leaves to shade myself from the sun.

The sixth-tier Crimson Flame Demon Tiger guarding it was sprawled at my feet like a house cat, letting me scratch its chin while it made rumbling purrs.

“Shi-Shizun?”

“Hm?” I opened one eye. “You’re here.”

[Hahaha! She makes it sound like they agreed to meet!]

[How is Ancestor even faster than the villain?]

[Obviously because she’s a demon cultivator. Finding heavenly treasures is instinct!]

Right in front of him, I plucked the Netherworld Grass that was still emitting demonic energy.

Xie Shiyi stared fixedly at the grass, his breathing growing heavier.

The guardian beast panicked too and was just about to roar when I slapped it on the head.

“Quiet.”

It instantly behaved.

Then I reached into my sleeve and pulled out my firstborn favorite pet, a colorful little spirit chicken.

“Little Eleven, time to eat.”

I tore off a leaf and held it to its beak.

“Cluck-cluck!”

The little yellow chick pecked it up in one bite, eating with great delight.

Xie Shiyi’s face turned livid.

[???]

[What a waste of a heavenly treasure! That was Netherworld Grass!]

[The villain’s world-destroying opportunity! She fed it to a chicken!!!]

[Xie Shiyi: This is worse than having my wife stolen!]
