A Sword Reverses the World's Spring - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
I was certain this was the first time I had ever met someone like Lansheng.
He was practically the embodiment of a young man in bloom.
If one ignored the savage, crisscrossing lash marks, his skin was fair and lustrous, almost pearlescent.
Clean. Pure.
Yet fragile, trembling.
Like a fine piece of jade ground to pieces, making one want to crush it all over again with lips and tongue.
As if bewitched, I reached out and slowly brushed my fingers over his soft lips.
The little hooks in Lansheng’s eyes lifted again, and a cold, cunning glint flashed through his pupils.
The next instant, I clamped my fingers down hard.
And pinched his mouth flat into the shape of a duck’s beak.
Lansheng: ?
“I hate riddlers most of all.”
I looked at him calmly.
“Since I agreed to save you, I will save you. You don’t need to use these tricks on me.”
Smoothly fishing out the hidden medicine pouch in his mouth, I asked with a half-smile,
“What does this do? Knock me out?”
With his mouth being handled by me in a way that was almost indecently playful, Lansheng was both shocked and furious, but he could only answer indistinctly,
“Mm… no…”
Only after I let go did he gasp for breath and complain,
“Where did you learn that? That was so… so excessive…”
I said, “When I was little, I hunted and raised poultry myself. Whenever one of them swallowed something it shouldn’t have, this was how I handled it.”
Lansheng: ?
He became completely honest after that, wilting as he lay against me, his broken legs hanging dispiritedly at my waist.
“I wasn’t trying to knock you out. I’m still counting on you to take me to Qingzhou.”
“Inside the pouch is Love Gu. I only wanted to seduce you into losing your head with desire, and then control you.”
The more he spoke, the less conviction he had.
“This was to save you too!”
Me: …
I laughed in anger and pinched his mouth again, hard.
Lansheng muttered unhappily,
“How can you blame me? It’s only because far too many people harbor ill intentions toward me…”
I glanced at him and said coolly, “Do you think I can’t protect you?”
Lansheng froze.
“It is true that my constitution isn’t suited for cultivation. My body was born unable to retain even the slightest trace of spiritual power.”
“But I have a sword, Lansheng.”
“In a secret realm where spiritual power was sealed away, I once defeated Lizhao.”
I looked straight into his eyes and enunciated every word.
“As long as I am alive, you will not die.”
“Do you understand?”
Lansheng seemed stunned to the extreme. His damp, reddened lips parted, and even those amorous eyes went blank.
A long while later, he trembled all over as if finally coming back to himself.
He abruptly lowered his head, then seemed to be burned by the skin at the side of my neck.
After a while, I heard a voice behind me, thin as a mosquito’s whine.
“Such… such wild arrogance.”
“You’d better start thinking about how to get your junior sister to protect both of us at the same time…”
