After Accidentally Eating the Horror Boss - Chapter 1
After graduation, I switched careers without hesitation and became a horror game player, all to escape my family’s pressure to get married.
With help from my captain and teammates, my career as a player had always gone smoothly.
But there were still occasional accidents.
Like now. I seemed to be stuck in a bug, and my glasses were gone.
I felt around on the floor for ages but found no trace of them.
After checking that my earphones were still securely in my ears and that I still had my charger, I groped my way forward.
Everything ahead of me was a blur. I could make out only the vaguest outlines of my surroundings.
On a table up front, I found several mission items.
A sheet of paper, a card, and a smartphone.
I practically pressed my face to the paper before I could barely read the words on it.
“Dear Mr. Cui Ye,
“Welcome to your new position at our Anomalous Creature Breeding Facility! We are certain you will make an exceptionally patient keeper!
“Your room is Room 403, in the area to the left of the cafeteria. A staff member will explain your duties to you in person tomorrow.
“Wages are paid weekly! You may use the facility’s shopping app to make purchases.
“Note: If you have any problems, please ask the administrator for help! However, the administrator is an omnivorous anomalous creature and gets hungry easily. Please don’t approach him when he’s hungry~”
An omnivore?
I considered that and decided the administrator was probably the boss.
According to the note, he might even eat people.
My captain and teammates were not here. There was no one to protect me.
If I did not want to be eaten, I had to stay far away from him.
I put away the card and slowly edged out with one hand against the wall.
The research facility was brightly lit, and people occasionally passed me in the corridors.
I stopped and started, pausing every so often to ask for directions. It took me forever to reach the dormitory area.
Following the last kind passerby’s directions, I went straight to a half-open door, pushed it open, and stepped inside.
The room was slightly dim and simply furnished.
The wallpaper was interesting, at least: an expanse of black-and-white patterns.
Had my nearsightedness been even slightly less severe—or had I taken a closer look—I would have realized that the gray-black patterns were not wallpaper at all, but countless gray-black shadow wraiths clinging to the walls.
They writhed. Their empty, pure-white features twisted and crowded together as they cocked their heads this way and that, watching me wander around the room.
When I showed no sign of leaving and even lay down on the bed, the shadow wraiths finally began prodding the darkest patch of gray-black on the wall, trying to wake him.
Fang Huan, who had a habit of sleeping imprinted on the wall, woke to their disturbance.
He had not fed in days. His stomach was long since ravenous, clamoring for food.
He did not know how this person had entered his room, but there was no question that a fresh delicacy had delivered itself right to his mouth.
The shadow wraiths around Fang Huan grew restless.
They glided across the wall toward the person sitting on the bed.
It was late. I had missed mealtime here, so I took out the lunch box I had prepared beforehand and decided to make myself a tuna-and-seaweed rice ball.
The square sheet of seaweed fell under the bed.
Obeying the three-second rule, I bent down at lightning speed to pick it up.
The floor was black too, and with my extreme nearsightedness, I could not tell where the seaweed had landed.
Trusting my instincts, I reached out, plucked a piece of black from the floor, and blew the dust off it.
Just like that, I picked up a shadow wraith that had poked out its head with a snicker. Then I wrapped it around a fragrant lump of rice mixed with tuna and stuffed it into my mouth.
By the time Fang Huan tried to call it back, it was too late.
I bit off the shadow wraith’s head and swallowed it.
Fang Huan had eaten plenty of human bodies, but this was his first time being eaten by a human.
The shadow wraith possessed an individual consciousness, but it was ultimately still part of him.
Through it, Fang Huan felt every bite with perfect clarity.
The shadow wraith struggled to escape its predicament, desperately sliding back toward the place where it had been swallowed.
I gulped hard. “Why is this seaweed so sticky today?”
After finally getting it down, I drank some water and took another huge bite.
Fang Huan tasted the rice.
The realization made his eyes widen in disbelief.
But he had stopped being human long ago.
As the other person swallowed, a strange sensation swept through Fang Huan’s entire body. He went rigid in the corner.
It was indescribable—being chewed and swallowed, then swept downward to behold a human’s most vulnerable place, where that same human’s vivid red vitality burned at its strongest…
For the first time since Fang Huan had gained consciousness, his cold, lifeless heart began to beat.
He seemed to be even hungrier now.
After washing up, I lay down.
Before falling asleep, I tried calling for the system.
Silence.
The system gave no response at all.
It looked as though I would have to stay here for the time being.
I sighed, closed my eyes, and fell asleep.
That night, I had a dream.
I watched helplessly as a blurred figure stepped out of the wall.
He was tall. He knelt beside me and gently stroked my stomach. “It’s warm inside you.”
“I like it.”
Without my glasses, I could only just make out that he did not seem to be wearing anything. His bare body put every rise and dip of his muscles on display.
His features seemed handsome too, though I could not see them clearly.
Maybe he was a ghost, I thought.
A very uninhibited ghost—and exactly my type.
Fang Huan tapped a finger against my abdomen.
“So I’m going to take my time and savor you.”
“I’ll start right here.”
My mind immediately filled with all sorts of filthy thoughts.
Shyly, I reached out and felt him up. “And I get all this for free?”
Fang Huan: “?”
