For fuck’s sake.

Now I finally understood why the original Chi Yi had loved stirring up trouble.

The moment I stepped into the company, someone invited me aside to butter me up.

“Well, well! Vice President Chi himself has graced us with his presence.”

“So handsome and distinguished—a true dragon among men. How could some bastard who joined the family halfway possibly compare?”

I gave the middle-aged man in front of me an indescribable look. If I remembered correctly, he was a mole planted by a competitor. Since he couldn’t get near the company’s confidential information, he had decided to start with me.

The problem was, his attempt to sow discord couldn’t have been more blatant, yet the original owner had never noticed.

I brushed aside the cigarette he offered me. “Maybe later. I’m taking lunch to my brother.”

The man’s eyes widened in disbelief. He trailed after me and kept whispering poison in my ear.

“Chi Su is in charge of this project. If—if you could produce a better proposal, the Chi family would surely see you in a new light!”

Oh, how very kind of him.

The original owner knew nothing about business. He had followed this man’s advice and stolen the core project proposal, only for the man to photograph it and send it straight to their competitor. The Chi family had suffered a massive loss in the ensuing bid.

It was also a major reason Chi Qi later stood by and watched “me” die.

The original owner might have been tired of living.

I wasn’t.

Carrying the insulated lunch box with a lazy swagger, I sauntered toward the president’s office.

Just as I raised my hand to knock, two voices came from inside.

“A-Su, this report is good.”

“You taught me well, Big Brother.”

Chi Qi was very pleased with his biological younger brother. Of course he was. Chi Su was the male lead. His intelligence, emotional acuity, and competence were all impeccable.

I looked at the lunch box with mixed feelings. Good thing the original owner wasn’t here, or he would have gone insane with jealousy.

Then again, the original owner didn’t seem like the sort to knock.

I grabbed the handle and prepared to barge in—only for the door to fly open. I plunged headfirst into a broad, solid chest.

“Fuck…” I muttered.

Chi Su frowned slightly and stepped back without making a show of it.

Right. This was what it meant to be universally hated.

I turned to Chi Qi with a fake smile. “Big Brother, I brought you lunch.”

Then I twisted back and added, “There’s some for you too.”

The brothers exchanged a glance.

Pretending not to notice, I set out the dishes. Chi Qi, every inch the smiling tiger, studied me.

“A-Yi, you’ve changed a lot.”

I couldn’t afford to raise suspicion. Even if the role was that of a stupid, vicious outcast, I still had to stay in character.

“Tch. Mom couldn’t stand looking at me anymore.”

I casually complained about Mrs. Chi’s nagging while pretending to ask, in passing, how the project was progressing.

Wariness flashed through Chi Qi’s eyes. Before long, he politely but distantly sent me away.

Just before I left, Chi Su—who had been silent the whole time—spoke.

“Don’t bring us lunch again. Tell Mom I’ll eat at the cafeteria.”

I nodded with an obedient smile.

Then I closed the door and deliberately cursed loud enough for both brothers to hear. “Screw you. Eat it or don’t. Like I wanted to come here in the first place.”

Once I was sure they’d heard, I curled my lips in satisfaction and walked off.

I’d maintained my nasty persona without overdoing it.

Damn, I was good.
