After He Mistook Me for My Twin Brother - Chapter 1
Pei Yi’s face darkened. His grip tightened on my jaw with enough force to choke the life out of me.
“Xie Yi, stop acting like a slut.”
“If you don’t want to die, drop the routine you use on other men. It makes me sick.”
Ever since I had taken mob boss Song Chongli as my godfather, I had heard more than my share of filthy rumors.
They had long since stopped bothering me.
I lounged back and raised my cuffed hands. “I know Young Master Pei is too noble to dirty himself with mobsters like us, so what is this supposed to mean?”
Pei Yi rammed the muzzle harder beneath my chin. “You know exactly why I came for you.”
“Tell me. Where is Xie Er?”
Xie Er was my twin brother.
My smile faded a fraction. I tucked a strand of long hair behind my ear and nodded.
“So all this trouble was still for my brother.”
“But my answer is the same as it was two months ago. Xie Er’s present whereabouts are none of your business.”
Two months earlier, I had come to Bianhai to survey the business.
That night, my men took me to a gay bar. I never found a pretty boy, but the vice squad certainly found us.
I fled through the back door, only to run straight into Pei Yi, who was waiting there.
His pupils contracted when he saw me, his face lighting with the joy of a long-awaited reunion.
“Gege? Is it really you? I finally found you…”
I thought he was calling me.
After all, when he had first been trafficked into the mountains of southern Yunnan eight years ago, he had clung to me constantly, following at my heels and calling me *gege* all day long.
What was more, I had personally gotten him out of the trafficking ring and saved his life.
Why shouldn’t he sweetly call me *gege*? In my opinion, he could even call me husband. A life-saving debt ought to be repaid with one’s body, after all.
So I curved my lips in a faint smile. “Pei Yi. You finally came to find me.”
“Gege, I’m sorry. I came too late, didn’t I?”
“No. It isn’t too late.”
He stared at me, eyes reddening as tears spilled over.
“Gege, do you know that for the past eight years, I’ve thought about you every day and every night? I really…”
I studied the face he had grown into: a buzz cut, a slit eyebrow, sharp bones, exquisite features.
Yet the corners of his eyes and the tip of his nose were red, making him look like a puppy caught in the rain.
Beautiful.
Faced with a face like that, how could I care what he was saying? I tipped up his chin and kissed him.
Pei Yi froze for a heartbeat, then threw himself into the kiss with twice my fervor. He kissed me fiercely yet reverently, long arms locked around my waist as though he wanted to melt me into his flesh and bones, terrified I might disappear.
There was an inexplicable, lingering fear in him—the fear of losing something he had only just recovered.
Once he had kissed me thoroughly senseless, I pulled the tie from my hair and let it tumble loose.
He gazed at me almost obsessively. “Gege, you like me too, don’t you…?”
I smiled, looped my arms around his neck, and jumped onto him. When he caught me, I wrapped my legs around his waist and blew lightly against his swollen lips.
“Baby, take me to a hotel. Get us a room, and your gege will play however you want.”
Pei Yi went still and stared at me for several seconds.
Then he suddenly set me down, caught both my wrists in one hand, spun me around, and pinned me against the rough wall.
Without a word, he shoved up my shirt.
I laughed. “You’re not planning to do it here, are you?”
He said nothing. He bared my lower back, then ground his rough fingertips hard against one spot.
Pain, pleasure, and numbness shot through me at once. I sucked in a breath. “Baby, are you always this wild?”
Pei Yi slammed his fist into the wall beside me and roared, “There’s no birthmark… You’re not Xie Er!”
“Xie Yi, you pretended to be your brother to trick me again!”
Only then did I understand. He truly had come looking for the person who saved his life.
It simply wasn’t me he believed that person to be.
He had mistaken me—the one who led him out of the trafficking ring eight years ago—for my twin brother, Xie Er.
