Chapter 1

I was originally just a kind-hearted college student, but I ended up transmigrating into a xianxia redemption novel. I became the wicked, high-maintenance Master of the Male Lead during his youth.

In this book, the Male Lead is your standard tragic-but-powerful hero, and I, his Master, am one of the primary factors that drive him into demonic transformation.

After the Male Lead falls to the demonic path, he is supposed to meet the Female Lead and find redemption through her.

And now, I have reached the very last mission.

I looked up at the sky. My disciple, who had just undergone his demonic transformation, was currently facing a siege from the Hundred Sects of Immortal Path.

“Xie Zhuo! You are corrupt of heart! We have come today to eradicate a scourge like you!”

That’s right. My final mission was to be dragged forward by the demonized Xie Zhuo to block a fatal blow from the Hundred Sects of Immortal Path, allowing him to escape amidst the chaos.

Standing in a corner below, I quietly sized up the crowd.

The Ancestor of Sword Cultivators, a Spell Cultivator of boundless power, a world-renowned Alchemy Cultivator…

Breaking into a cold sweat, I asked the System, “Are you telling me that the combined strike of this group is going to hit me?”

The System replied, “That’s right, Host! Once you complete this mission, you can go home!”

You godforsaken human-trafficking System, I’ll freaking kill you.

While I was frantically cursing in my head, I looked back up at the sky.

This time, I happened to lock eyes with my so-called disciple.

Xie Zhuo was covered in bloodstains. Facing the denunciation of the hundred sects, he ignored them all, merely staring down at me with an eerie calmness.

The Hundred Sects of Immortal Path finished their righteous speeches and finally began to charge their power.

Wild winds howled as the sky and earth changed color.

The moment had finally come.

I stood up straight, bracing myself with every ounce of focus, waiting for Xie Zhuo to pull me up to block the attack.

The Ancestor of Sword Cultivators finished charging.

Xie Zhuo didn’t move.

The Spell Cultivator ancestor finished charging.

Xie Zhuo still didn’t move.

I was stunned.

I watched as a massive halo of light, carrying a sharp sword intent, hurtled toward Xie Zhuo.

Xie Zhuo remained standing right where he was.

I completely panicked.

I didn’t have time to wonder why Xie Zhuo wasn’t pulling me in to shield him.

All I knew was that if Xie Zhuo didn’t dodge, he was actually going to die.

Fine. I’ve bullied him for ten years; consider this my way of paying him back.

Before anyone could react, I flew upward, shielding Xie Zhuo in the blink of an eye.

A deafening boom echoed, followed by the gasps of the crowd. It seemed no one expected me to take a sword for Xie Zhuo.

Including Xie Zhuo himself.

After all, everyone knew I had always loathed this disciple of mine.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have the energy to care what others thought anymore.

My body suddenly lost all strength. All my spiritual power dissipated, and I fell from the sky like a broken kite.

I waited quietly for my consciousness to fade, only to be caught in someone’s arms the next second.

Xie Zhuo’s eyes looked ready to burst. He raised his hand, intending to heal me, but then suddenly realized that cultivators are most repelled by Demonic Qi.

He withdrew his hand blankly. In his eyes, which had been devoid of emotion, a hint of confusion finally surfaced.

Upholding my high level of professional ethics, I had to maintain my character even in death.

So, I forced out one last breath and continued to be a spiteful, high-maintenance brat.

“It hurts like hell… If I’d known, I wouldn’t have blocked it for you.”

I enunciated every word.

“Xie Zhuo, I really hate you to death. I hate you the most.”

Then, I closed my eyes.

The System’s announcement rang in my mind:

[Congratulations, Host! Mission successfully completed!]

[Preparing to transport you back to the real world.]
