After I Pretended to Be a Succubus - Chapter 1
I tugged at the scraps of fabric on my body and stared speechlessly at the man across from me.
“Looking good, Little Feather!”
“That outfit is perfect on you. It’s practically made to measure!”
Gu Xian circled me, looking me up and down in excitement, his eyes shining with fascination.
“All right, it’s settled! You’re wearing this to the masquerade with me!”
My heart sank as he announced his decision. I looked up at the mirror in front of me.
I wore a backless satin shirt fitted tight by a cinched waist and lacy pumpkin shorts that barely reached the middle of my thighs. Silk ribbons wound around my waist, back, and the tops of my legs, leaving curved cutouts between them.
Worst of all were the silicone horns, wings, and tail.
Every inch of it was mortifying.
I refused on the spot.
Gu Xian’s grin instantly collapsed.
“We had a deal.”
“You lost the bet, so you have to grant me one request. Don’t tell me you’re backing out now?”
He caught hold of my half-cape and shook it back and forth. Irritation surged through me. I endured it for as long as I could, but finally snapped, a vein throbbing at my temple.
“I already put on this humiliating outfit like you asked. Now you want to push your luck?”
“I just got dumped, damn it. Do you have to make me even more miserable?”
I reached for the piece of cloth in his fist, but he let go before I could grab it.
Then, right before my eyes, he held up a video.
Onscreen, an adorable little boy posed for the camera while reciting one embarrassing line after another. Every so often, muffled giggles came from behind the camera.
“Say ‘Big Sis’ in five different voices.”
“First, the middle-aged-man voice…”
My body reacted before my brain did. I lunged straight at Gu Xian, who was struggling not to laugh.
“Fuck! Where did you get that? Delete it!”
Nimble as ever, he dodged my attack and added in the most obnoxious voice imaginable, “Your sister shared it with me.”
“So, are you willing to honor our bet now?”
That unreliable sister of mine!
I clenched my fists, trembling with rage.
Fine! You’ve got guts, Gu Xian!
At the masquerade, plenty of people had turned up in bizarre costumes, so my outfit fit in with disturbing ease.
After finally fighting my way through the crowd, I escaped outside the auditorium for some air. One look at the time told me it was already midnight. There was no getting back into the dorm now.
Luckily, I had asked my academic advisor for leave in advance.
Few pedestrians remained outside the auditorium. Most of the movement came from cars passing along the street. Their flickering lights swept back and forth across my face, irritating me even more.
Then a familiar voice sounded behind me.
“Wen Yu? You’re not in the dorm?”
I followed the voice and found Pei Yu standing beneath a streetlamp, tall, elegant, and distant.
The instant I saw that face, my temper flared.
When I didn’t answer, Pei Yu pursed his lips. His icy gaze traveled over my body before settling on my bare legs.
Sure enough, his frown deepened.
“Absolutely shameless.”
Those four curt words struck my ears. That lofty, condescending attitude made anger blaze through me.
