I was the most gifted female cultivator in the Joyous Union Sect.

Through my efforts alone, I had successfully wrecked the Dao hearts of every emotionless-path cultivator of my age.

Then I took my fun too far and got struck dead by the heavenly lightning of someone else’s tribulation.

When I opened my eyes again, I found myself in another world.

It was a continent with no immortal arts, where swords and magic reigned supreme.

A voice calling itself the System spoke to me.

[You are the savior chosen by this world. If you can stop three villains from destroying it, the world will recognize you and allow you to reincarnate here.]

I was stunned. “What? A savior? Me?”

Wasn’t saving the world supposed to be a job for those gloriously righteous sword cultivators?

The System sounded excited.

[That’s right—you! My scan shows that you were honored as a “witch” in your former cultivation world. Surely that must be short for “magical girl”!]

Something about that seemed off.

Still, I had cultivated in the Joyous Union Sect for more than two hundred years and had long since become an adult. And if one stretched the definition of *girl* to mean a youthful, accomplished, beautiful woman, I did qualify. So the System was probably right?

[Magical girls are all kind and gentle. I’m sure you can use love to reform the villains, bring them hope and salvation, and stop them from destroying the world!]

What was this little chatterbox babbling about?

I did not quite understand, but I thought I caught the key phrase.

Interfering with people by making love…?

I thrust out my chest with confidence. “Oh, that? I’m great at it!”

And so, despite being on two entirely different wavelengths, the System and I cheerfully began our partnership.

Following the mission guide, I soon found the first villain.

The future Demon King, Von Heinrich.

The young Demon King had awakened from his seal only to lose his way. By the demon calendar, he was already twenty-five, yet here he was, an adult slave being sold for a pittance.

His power had not awakened. His slender body lay weakly in the corner of a cage.

Filth obscured his face, and his dull red hair was caked with mud. Only the pair of thumb-long black goat horns on his forehead proved he was no ordinary beggar.

“Now, this is a rare specimen.” The slave trader rapped the young demon’s back with the handle of his whip. “One demon slave can take more punishment than ten ordinary ones.”

Even under such humiliation, Von kept his eyes shut and said nothing. He was as still as a corpse.

I crouched beside the cage and curiously poked one of his black horns.

Von’s eyes snapped open. He lunged and bit at me with the speed of a feral beast.

Judging by that mouthful of razor-sharp teeth, he would have bitten my finger clean off if I had not dodged in time.

“My, what a fierce little dog.” Far from angry, I smiled over my shoulder at the trader. “How much?”

The slave trader held up three fingers.

“I know the price is a little steep, but he’s a demon. You won’t find another one easily—”

Since it expected me to save the world, the System naturally had not skimped on my allowance. I had never been so rich.

And so, for the trifling price of three gold coins, I successfully purchased one of the world-destroying villains—the Demon King himself.

The System giggled foolishly.

[How sweet! A ray of salvation appearing when he’s mired in darkness! The Demon King will surely be grateful and willing to do anything for you!]

Me: “?”

I looked down at Von. Murder still blazed in his eyes; only the master-servant contract kept him from attacking me again.

Grateful?

He looked more inclined to send me straight to hell.
