The Pseudo-Humans who were hurled out by that mysterious force turned deathly pale with shock.

They had ruled this world for a long time-so long that it had been ages since they’d seen a human capable of fighting back.

More than two hundred years ago, the sun and moon vanished. Strange phenomena appeared in the sky. Aliens rode living spacecraft and invaded the planet from outer space, and humanity fell completely into slavery.

Aliens were an evil species that reproduced through “parasitic breeding.” Across their entire race-no matter what kind of Skin Suit they wore-they were all male. They forcibly left eggs inside human bodies to produce offspring.

In the beginning, the Aliens plundered and harmed humans without restraint, using human bodies to birth countless young Aliens. It wasn’t until recent decades, when the human population plummeted sharply, that the Aliens introduced policies to protect humans.

Humans, too, went through a process-from resistance to being tamed.

Because the planet’s living environment had changed, human bodies changed as well, and they began to age rapidly and uncontrollably.

Meanwhile, Aliens secreted a golden liquid. If humans ingested this golden liquid, it could slow aging.

Once quantified, that golden liquid became Magnetic Value.

Gradually, a new mode of coexistence formed between humans and Aliens.

Aliens provided Magnetic Value; humans provided offspring.

To prevent humanity from going extinct, Alien law stipulated that the reproductive process had to be voluntary on the human’s part. Any Alien who dared to force a human would be sentenced to the harshest penalty.

In other words, only after Bonding-after officially becoming spouses-could parasitic breeding take place.

For Aliens, the urge to reproduce was instinct.

They pursued humans like mad.

Any human would do.

But for humans, they would only choose Aliens capable of providing large amounts of Magnetic Value.

Lin She leaned against the desk. His short black hair covered half his face as he lowered his head, pale fingers tapping on his phone. “Miss Gu, those customers just now tried to lay hands on you. That’s illegal. We can call the police to handle it.”

Gu Huaiwei nodded cheerfully. “Sure.”

This world, unexpectedly, played by the rules.

After Lin She called the police, Pseudo-Human officers actually came to deal with it. They carefully recorded what happened from start to finish, then issued fines to the customers who had harassed Gu Huaiwei.

Watching those Pseudo-Humans line up and apologize to her one by one, Gu Huaiwei found it oddly funny.

At the same time, she received her first bit of personal income since coming to this plane-compensation.

There had been seven Pseudo-Humans. Two ran off before the police arrived, leaving five. They pooled their money together, pinching pennies, and scraped together 1,000 Magnetic Value for Gu Huaiwei.

Who was it that had shouted an offer of ten thousand at the door earlier?

So it really had just been trash talk-yelling whatever it took to trick a human into Bonding!

Gu Huaiwei took the ten small glass vials filled with golden liquid and categorized every one of those customers as low-quality.

He Jiarui’s requirement was that a blind-date match had to be able to produce no less than sixty thousand Magnetic Value per year.

She couldn’t find what she needed from these low-tier Pseudo-Humans who came knocking.

“Miss, please sign the mediation form.” The police officer in a black uniform pushed the document-already signed by the other party-toward Gu Huaiwei.

Gu Huaiwei took the pen he handed her.

She wrote at the signature line, but no ink came out.

Gu Huaiwei shook the pen. “This pen’s out of ink.”
The officer took the fountain pen back, then drove it straight into his own wrist. From inside, he drew out green liquid, then handed the pen to Gu Huaiwei.

“Now you can write.” He smiled at her; the wound on his hand healed at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Gu Huaiwei held the pen and looked up at the officer. He wore a crisp black uniform, his features delicate and hard to categorize as masculine or feminine. Only his eyes were unusual-his black pupils were a little larger than a normal human’s.

“I just sign here, right?” Gu Huaiwei asked.

“Mm.” The sound came from deep in his throat, surprisingly pleasant.

As Gu Huaiwei signed, she could feel the officer standing very close.

“This is my personal number. If you get harassed by Pseudo-Humans again later, you can contact me directly.” The officer slipped a business card into the pocket of Gu Huaiwei’s shirt. “I’ll come the moment you call.”

Gu Huaiwei took out the gold-embossed card. Printed on it was the officer’s name-Zhou Chuanning.

After the farce ended, Gu Huaiwei had Lin She help her quickly connect the computers at the Oasis Matchmaking Agency to this world’s network.

Lin She worked on the computer. Gu Huaiwei sat back down at her station, took out a blank sheet of paper, and started by listing what the registration form needed to include.

There was only one desk. Lin She sat across from Gu Huaiwei. When they worked, it was quiet; each of them focused on the task in front of them.

Halfway through, Gu Huaiwei got thirsty and reached for her teacup. It was a little far-she would have had to stand up to get it. Lin She didn’t look up. He simply nudged the cup closer with the back of his hand, without saying a word.

He Xueyi used a sharpened wooden twig to scrape the moss out of the cracks in the Matchmaker God statue by the entrance.

He noticed Zhou Chuanning perched in a tree not far from the Oasis Matchmaking Agency, using the leaves to hide himself while he secretly watched Gu Huaiwei.

“If you like her, you can go after her openly.” He Xueyi walked beneath the tree and tipped his chin up, his gaze landing on Zhou Chuanning’s hiding place. “You’ve been sitting up there watching for ages-doesn’t your neck hurt? Sneaking around like this isn’t exactly gentlemanly.”

Zhou Chuanning jumped down from the tree. Green leaves drifted onto the shoulders of his black uniform.

“You can see me?”

“Of course. You can’t hide your aura.” A small red fruit appeared in He Xueyi’s hand. He offered it to Zhou Chuanning. “Want a taste? It’s delicious.”

Zhou Chuanning glanced at the red fruit, opened his mouth, and his tongue snapped out like a whip, curling around the fruit and yanking it back in.

He swallowed it whole.

He Xueyi’s smile turned far more genuine. He wanted to see what kind of tree could grow inside a Pseudo-Human’s stomach.

Zhou Chuanning could tell that He Xueyi wasn’t human. At the same time, he wasn’t an Alien, either.

“Does she belong to you?” Zhou Chuanning asked without expression. His target was Gu Huaiwei-the human.

“You mean the shopkeeper? Unfortunately, not for now.” He Xueyi pinched another small red fruit between his pale fingers, the faint smile at his lips never fading.

“Then does she belong to the green-eyed gentleman in the shop?”

“Not him either.”

Zhou Xining narrowed his eyes. “If she’s unclaimed, I’ll take her.”

“Achoo-” Gu Huaiwei, who was drawing the table for the form, sneezed twice in a row. She rubbed her itchy nose and dropped her pen.

Who was talking bad about her behind her back?
