Chapter 134

Every single bullet missed.

“What kind of monster are you!” Wang Tao’s face twisted with terror. He could feel the soil beneath his feet throbbing, beating like a heart.

He stomped hard on the ground several times before the underground agitation finally settled.

Suddenly, he regretted his recklessness.

He should have retreated first.

His orders from above were to carry out a sneak attack.

Wang Tao had originally planned to dump toxic insect eggs into the water to incapacitate everyone else at the matchmaking agency. However, he hadn’t expected to be discovered by Gu Huaiwei the moment he started moving in the backyard. Seeing that she was alone and her three assistants were nowhere to be found, he had been bold enough to choose a direct confrontation.

“Even if you call the police, I won’t confess a single word,” Wang Tao thought to himself. Even if he were caught, he would only be sent to a reform prison. Aliens were not allowed to kill humans directly, even if he was a member of the Dawn Alliance.

As long as he stayed alive, he would find a way to continue the mission the Dawn Alliance had entrusted to him.

“Do you have personal accident insurance?” Gu Huaiwei watched the pulsing earth beneath her feet, the smile on her face deepening. “Oh, I forgot. You terrorists don’t have legitimate identities, so you can’t buy insurance.”

Wang Tao grew wary. “What do you mean by that?”

“Nothing much. It’s just a pity that our business ends here.” Gu Huaiwei turned her head away, no longer looking at him.

In the next second, the vines beside the dry well seemed to come to life. They grew frantically, coiling around Wang Tao’s body like snakes and drowning out his terrified screams.

Then, they forced their way into Wang Tao’s mouth, nose, and ears. Moments later, blood leaked from his seven orifices as he was dragged into the dry well.

The Oasis Matchmaking Agency was a sleeping, living entity.

If a customer caused trouble inside the shop, the agency would merely kick them out of the building.

But Wang Tao had committed a cardinal sin: he had tried to burn the agency to the ground.

And so, he was consumed by the house.

The next day, Wang Tao’s relatives reported him missing, and the police came to investigate the disappearance.

Gu Huaiwei saw the familiar face of Zhou Chuanning again.

“Officer Zhou, why is it you again? You’re making it very hard for me not to overthink things.”

Gu Huaiwei brewed several cups of tea for Zhou Chuanning and his colleague. Since it involved a case, she invited them into the Matchmaker’s Cottage to talk.

Zhou Chuanning sat on a brown round stool, his back as straight as a bamboo pole. “All cases involving you have been assigned to my team by the bureau.”

“Ever since you appeared, our team’s workload has skyrocketed,” Zhou Chuanning’s colleague, Wu Ming, couldn’t help but complain. “The bureau holds meetings every day now, saying that since you’re doing business with humans, we need to pay special attention to maintaining the safety of this area and protecting the business environment. Every time a report is filed in this district, we have to write a performance report. Ah, I’m so jealous of how much free time the colleagues in other departments have!”

Zhou Chuanning had never mentioned these work-related matters to Gu Huaiwei.

“Thank you for your hard work.” Gu Huaiwei took out several bottles of Nutrient Solution and placed them in front of them. “I see you usually drink these. Since you’ve traveled all this way up the mountain, I don’t have much else to offer. Consider this my treat for lunch.”

“Nutrient Solution? For us?” Wu Ming was somewhat flattered. “This is the first time I’ve ever received a gift from a human.”

Nutrient Solution was food for aliens.

The Nutrient Solution in this dimension was actually different from the one in the Wasteland dimension.

In the Wasteland dimension, Nutrient Solution was primarily made from a mixture of mutated plant and animal remains combined with some human tissue.

In this world, however, Nutrient Solution was made purely from the tissues of deceased humans.
Driven by his natural affinity for humans, Wu Ming picked up an earthworm-flavored Nutrient Solution and sniffed it. He felt the scent was a bit off.

But as he looked at the young human girl before him, he wondered: what kind of ill intentions could a human possibly have?

He hadn’t spent a single point of Magnetic Value to buy her milk tea, yet she had given him a Nutrient Solution. She really was kind.

Zhou Chuanning didn’t touch the Nutrient Solution. Instead, he pulled out a photo of Wang Tao and asked, “Have you seen this man?”

Gu Huaiwei looked at the photo and nodded. “This man signed up for the Matchmaking Event.”

Maintaining a professional, business-like attitude, Zhou Chuanning inquired, “When was the last time you saw him?”

“After the Matchmaking Event ended yesterday, everyone left. He should have been among them,” Gu Huaiwei lied calmly.

“This human is a dangerous element. He served a year in prison for multiple attacks on Aliens. If you see him again, notify me immediately.”

“Alright.” Gu Huaiwei had assumed Wang Tao was an undocumented person since he joined the Dawn Alliance; she hadn’t expected his disappearance to trigger a police investigation.

A few days after the Matchmaking Event concluded, Gu Huaiwei had exceeded her mission requirements. The number of successfully Bonded couples had reached twelve, and the count was still rising.

The greatest impact of the Matchmaking Event wasn’t just these twelve couples. The local propaganda department had taken notice of the Oasis Matchmaking Agency’s exemplary role in human-Alien relations and invited her to appear on television.

Gu Huaiwei originally had no interest, but after checking the next stage of her mission, she immediately agreed with high spirits.

[Oasis Hotel: Three-star]

[Congratulations, Shopkeeper, for completing the Phase Two Matchmaking Event mission. This upgrade consumes 10,000 Magnetic Value.]

[Number of completed pairings: 13 couples.]

[Currently unlockable paid areas: Dating Show Venue, Live Stream Room, Makeup and Styling Room, Romantic Villa.]

[Next stage sales mission unlocked: Please host a dating reality show within six months and successfully live stream it in the current Dimension, ensuring the online viewer count exceeds 100,000.]

[Remaining Magnetic Value: 95,920 points.]

With less than 100,000 Magnetic Value, she needed to unlock all the paid areas and host a dating show.

Setting up the venue, hiring guests… the budget was a bit tight.

Gu Huaiwei first unlocked all the available areas, and her remaining Magnetic Value instantly plummeted to just over 20,000 points.

As for guests, she certainly couldn’t afford the stars of this world. If she used ordinary people, they had to be young and have attractive Skin Suits.

To reduce the cost of guests, Gu Huaiwei prepared a massive fruit basket and took Bai Miemie to Chen Liuxiang’s villa.

She decided to start with the people around her, aiming to gather four humans and four Aliens to complete the live stream mission at the lowest possible cost.

Inside the manor, Chen Liuxiang was rarely spending the day by He Jiarui’s side. After Gu Huaiwei explained her intentions, He Jiarui took Chen Liuxiang’s hand and rubbed her head against her shoulder. “Xiangxiang, I want to participate.”

“But your health…” Chen Liuxiang was somewhat worried about He Jiarui’s physical condition.

“I don’t need the IV anymore. I just need to take my medicine on time.” He Jiarui’s state had indeed recovered significantly this time. She stroked the Bonding Ring around her neck and looked at Chen Liuxiang with deep affection. “Xiangxiang, help me take this off. I want to get to know you all over again.”
