Chapter 135

Gu Huaiwei kept her head down politely while they were showing off their affection. Bai Miemie, on the other hand, stared at them without blinking, acting as a massive third wheel until Gu Huaiwei finally pushed her head down.

Chen Liuxiang only stayed for a short while before leaving after receiving a phone call.

He Jiarui leaned back lazily on the sofa and said to Gu Huaiwei, “I can sponsor 100,000 Magnetic Value for your event, but you have to do me a favor.”

“Sure,” Gu Huaiwei replied in a crisp voice.

He Jiarui was a bit surprised. “Don’t you want to hear what the favor is first?”

“With a sponsorship that generous, I’ll do my best to fulfill whatever request you have, whether it’s reasonable or not.”

“It’s not that extreme.” A faint smile appeared on He Jiarui’s pale face. “I want you to invite my previous Keeper to participate in this dating show as well.”

“Alright. Give me his contact information, and I’ll go invite him.”

Gu Huaiwei was a woman of action. Without asking for reasons or motives, she took the contact information and went to visit He Jiarui’s former Keeper immediately.

It was only after meeting He Jiarui’s former Keeper that Gu Huaiwei understood why He Jiarui had been so determined to change her Bonding partner.

Her former Keeper was named Ji Xuan. He lived in a three-bedroom high-rise apartment, but he was far too mediocre-mediocre looks, a mediocre personality, a mediocre home, and even a mediocre job.

Since no humans lived there anymore, empty tubes of Nutrient Solution were scattered all over Ji Xuan’s house. Back when He Jiarui was there, he would still tidy up his human Skin Suit. Since she left, he simply commuted between home and the office every day, neglecting his appearance. Now, he looked like a disheveled, middle-aged man.

His external conditions were truly lacking; if he were to participate in a variety show, he would definitely need a makeover.

Gu Huaiwei extended the invitation.

Ji Xuan agreed with a good-natured temperament. His only request was that Gu Huaiwei compensate him for the wages he would lose by missing work for the filming.

Given that his salary wasn’t high and He Jiarui had sponsored 100,000 Magnetic Value, Gu Huaiwei agreed to his request.

Ji Xuan poured the half-tube of cheap Nutrient Solution he had started yesterday into his mouth and asked, “How is Jiarui living now?”

“Quite well. She lives in a large manor now with no worries about food or drink. Her appearance hasn’t changed, and she receives at least sixty thousand Magnetic Value every year.”

“Has she… mentioned me again?” Ji Xuan deeply missed the human he had raised himself. He only hated that he lacked the ability to provide He Jiarui with that much Magnetic Value.

It was only right that she left him to pursue a better life.

Gu Huaiwei smiled. “She mentioned your patience and gentleness when you were raising her back then.”

Ji Xuan gave a bitter laugh as he pried apart his sticky fingers. A Skin Suit that hadn’t been maintained for a long time always developed various issues.

“I see.” Ji Xuan thought of He Jiarui’s face. The rose he had raised with his own hands actually remembered him. “With those words from her, these ten-plus years of effort have been worth it.”

For the remaining two Aliens, Gu Huaiwei asked Zhou Chuanning and his colleague, Wu Ming, for help.

Wu Ming’s Skin Suit looked very young, fitting the ‘younger puppy’ type. As soon as he heard he could be on TV, he agreed on the spot.

Zhou Chuanning had only one requirement: he would only participate if Gu Huaiwei participated herself.

“That’s fine, but there won’t be any salary or compensation for lost wages,” Gu Huaiwei said, cutting personnel costs to the absolute limit.

“I don’t need any of that from you,” Zhou Chuanning said in an ambiguous tone. “I told you, I’m an Alien. As long as you give me a chance, I’ll even give my Magnetic Value to you.”

Gu Huaiwei didn’t shut Zhou Chuanning down directly this time; she still needed him to play along for the show.”
“footnotes
On the Alien side, four candidates had already been gathered.

Gu Huaiwei was now short of two young human guests.

Gu Huaiwei desperately wanted to dress up Bai Miemie to serve as a guest, but the Aliens of this world didn’t seem to buy it. They could smell the unique scent on Bai Miemie and the others, subsequently identifying them as a different kind of extraterrestrial creature.

Humans… young humans…

Gu Huaiwei remembered the old woman she had chatted with during the Matchmaking Event.

She had a younger cousin who was about to reach adulthood.

Gu Huaiwei quickly dug through the pile of documents to find the old woman’s registration form. She then contacted her by phone to ask if she would be willing to let her cousin participate in this dating show.

As long as they participated, a successful Bonding would earn them a generous newcomer red envelope sponsored by the Oasis Matchmaking Agency.

The old woman thought it was a good opportunity and promised Gu Huaiwei she would ask for her cousin’s opinion.

That left only one human spot remaining.

Gu Huaiwei couldn’t think of a suitable candidate, so she asked He Jiarui for a recommendation.

As it turned out, before He Jiarui’s candidate was even decided, Chen Liuxiang introduced a young human man to Gu Huaiwei.

The young man was named Lu Beijiu. He was the head of a biotechnology company, possessed a cold, murderous aura in his eyes, and was very silent. He didn’t wear any Contract Ring around his neck. When he registered, he was led by Chen Liuxiang and didn’t say a single word throughout the entire process.

The eight guests were tentatively set.

Next came the venue setup and the schedule of events.

He Xueyi and Bai Miemie, as special guests for this event, would participate behind the scenes with live commentary and voting.

Lin She had the heaviest workload, as he was responsible for the entire live broadcast.

Gu Huaiwei had originally thought about hiring a few locals to help him as assistants, but Lin She refused.

He said he could handle it all by himself.

The local propaganda department arranged for other filming teams to coordinate directly with Lin She.

He Jiarui transferred one hundred thousand Magnetic Value into Gu Huaiwei’s Paradise Card.

This was her private sponsorship for Gu Huaiwei and would not go into the Oasis Matchmaking Agency’s public accounts.

The Paradise Card supported multi-Dimension settlements, so it could naturally receive the Magnetic Value of this world.

Since there wasn’t enough Magnetic Value in the public account, Gu Huaiwei borrowed money from herself in the name of a company loan. Once the event was over and the Oasis Matchmaking Agency received its share of the broadcast profits, she would transfer the money back to her Paradise Card.

On the eve of the dating show’s start, Gu Huaiwei had already been working overtime for several days. she spent basically the entire day at her workstation, writing the script for the event.

Lin She returned, pushing the door open while holding his red umbrella.

Gu Huaiwei glanced at the time on her phone; it was already one in the morning. Feeling exhausted, she put down her pen and rubbed her temples, preparing to rest.

As she was making her bed, Lin She closed his red umbrella and walked over to He Xueyi’s culture dish. He pinched out a small, immature insect, his back turned to Gu Huaiwei.

“Those little things haven’t grown up yet. He Xueyi treasures them, so don’t sneak a snack. He’ll be unhappy,” Gu Huaiwei said without looking back. She could tell what Lin She was doing just by the sound of the glass lid rattling.

“There is no need to care about his thoughts.” Lin She used his slender, forked tongue to flick the larva into his mouth. “He and I are the source of each other’s displeasure.”

Gu Huaiwei finished making the bed and walked over to Lin She’s side. She snatched the glass jar from his hand, twisted the lid shut, and put it back in its place.

“Can’t you wait until they’re fattened up before eating them?” Gu Huaiwei had been supplying Lin She with fresh raw meat, but his appetite was much larger than she had imagined.

Lin She stared at her face, his dark green pupils shimmering with a dim light. His thin black lips barely moved, yet a dark, somber voice emerged from his throat: “I have been waiting.”
