Chapter 154

Mentioning this matter filled Yin Zhitao with intense frustration.

“I regret it. I regret staying in this dimension where there’s nothing! Did you know? There are scumbags among the Aliens too. When my stamina was high and my mental state was good, he pursued me like crazy. But the moment I gave up my status as a Dimension Operator to return to a normal life, he actually dumped me!”

She seemed to be blaming herself, yet also accusing Gu Huaiwei of something. Her fingernails clawed at the laptop keyboard until the plastic keys were shredded to pieces.

“He said I was the only light in his long life, said he didn’t care about race or stance, that he loved my soul…”

“It was all a joke!”

“Without the dimension shop, I became just like any other ordinary person in this world. I made such a huge sacrifice, only to end up with nothing.”

Yin Zhitao’s eyes were vacant. She looked up, her fingernails dripping blood from her violent actions, though she seemed unable to feel the pain. Her lips twitched, and her voice was rapid and broken.

“Later, I joined the Dawn Alliance because I wanted to get revenge on him. He’s dead, hahaha! He was shattered into so many pieces. Did you see? Over there… and there! Those are all parts of his broken corpse!”

Yin Zhitao pointed wildly at the air before suddenly clutching her head, sobbing in agony, trapped in a world of her own making.

“Aaaaah… I’m so stupid. Why did I do it? Why did I form a connection with someone from this world? Ah, what does it matter if he’s dead? What does it matter if I’m alive? I can never go back to my shop again!”

Gu Huaiwei watched her breakdown in silence.

It seemed Yin Zhitao had mistakenly believed she had found true love in this dimension, leading her to give up jumping between dimensions to stay here.

In the end, she hadn’t found true love, but a romance scam. She regretted it, but there was no turning back.

Once the screaming subsided slightly, Gu Huaiwei asked, “Wang Tao is your fiancé. Did you want to see me to seek justice for him?”

Yin Zhitao turned her head sharply. Her explosive emotions cooled instantly, and she said with total indifference, “He was just someone I found later. He helped me get revenge, so I dated him, that’s all.”

Seeing that Gu Huaiwei remained silent, Yin Zhitao continued, “You don’t need to worry. I have no feelings for him. Even if your shop devours him, I won’t seek revenge for him.”

To Yin Zhitao, the Dawn Alliance was nothing more than a group of naive people playing hero together.

She had joined the Dawn Alliance solely for revenge.

After achieving her goal, her mental state deteriorated. She constantly saw the figure of the dead Alien. Later, she was caught while on a mission and placed in a Mental Hospital. After several failed escape attempts, she resigned herself to receiving treatment there.

“Then those private messages…” Gu Huaiwei had thought Yin Zhitao knew some inside information about shop operations or Paradise.

If she was just here to listen to her repent over past relationship problems, Gu Huaiwei felt she had wasted half her day.

“I’m not doing this for myself. I’m sincerely thinking of you. Listen to me, you should stay in this dimension. Stop running that Matchmaking Agency of yours.”

Gu Huaiwei exposed her ruthlessly. “Just a reminder-you were just complaining about losing your status as a Dimension Operator and having no way to return to your shop.”

“Did I say that?”

“You did,” Gu Huaiwei remembered clearly.

Yin Zhitao immediately denied it. “No, I didn’t say anything like that.”

Seeing her backpedal the moment she spoke, Gu Huaiwei suspected that Yin Zhitao had simply given up her status as a Dimension Operator in a muddle-headed state and was now trying to drag her down with her.

“These are things I only realized after staying in this dimension,” Yin Zhitao said, her voice low and raspy, yet carrying a strange rhythm like a unique piano piece, as she tried to convince Gu Huaiwei. “The shops we open are actually siphoning energy from this dimension. Your Matchmaking Agency is like a malformed child, constantly swelling and growing, taking root in this dimension.”
“After I stopped running my shop, it collapsed almost immediately. At the same time, the land it occupied regained its former prosperity. It was then that I suddenly realized that to this Dimension, both we and our shops are invaders.”

“And? You want me to view myself as an invader and give up a good business?” Gu Huaiwei sighed softly. “There are many humans doing business in this Dimension. We adhere to the principle of voluntary exchange-goods for money. We don’t steal or rob. There’s no need for such deep self-reflection.”

“Think about why your bosses behind the scenes want you to do this! They want to use us Operators to colonize various Dimensions to fulfill their hidden agendas!”

Although Yin Zhitao spoke with conviction, many of her points were merely her own inferences. Her Mental Value was currently very low, and she frequently suffered from hallucinations. Her words could be taken as a reference, but not as absolute truth.

Gu Huaiwei didn’t want to listen to any more alarmist talk. She stood up, smoothed the slight wrinkles in her skirt, and prepared to leave.

She would never give up on the upgrade and management of the Matchmaking Agency, nor would she stay in this Dimension just because of a few words from someone else.

Her sister was still waiting for her in Paradise.

She intended to take the treasures from every Dimension and then welcome her sister back from Paradise.

As for Paradise’s ill intentions, Gu Huaiwei didn’t care.

From the opening of the Paradise Gate to those strange Assistants, and then to the so-called sacrifices and families, Gu Huaiwei had long since stopped viewing Paradise as a good place.

She would deal with whatever came her way.

Until Paradise revealed its fangs, Gu Huaiwei only needed to be a loyal Operator. She would take her benefits while Paradise wove its own web, until the mask of peace was finally torn away for a final showdown.

Yin Zhitao realized that Gu Huaiwei had no intention of listening to her. She stood up in a fit of rage, walked directly to the glass, and pulled back her hair to reveal another eye hidden beneath.

That eye was a distinct blood-red, as striking as the fires of Hell.

Gu Huaiwei caught sight of that eye unexpectedly and felt a bone-chilling cold.

“Why won’t you listen to me? Why won’t you stay behind like I did? Stay! Stay right now! Then you can live in regret and pain just like me! Hehe, come and share my regrets!”

“Hey, you let your true feelings slip.”

Yin Zhitao didn’t care about exposing her inner thoughts. She was manic and incoherent, acting as if she genuinely cared for Gu Huaiwei one moment and laughing hysterically the next.

“Hehehe… It doesn’t matter if you don’t listen to me. I can see you. No matter where you are, no matter if you’re in this Dimension or not, as long as you’ve locked eyes with this eye of mine, I can forever watch your every move…

Helping Paradise do these things will never end well for you. I’m going to keep watching you, watching for the moment Paradise stabs you in the back…”

It was through this eye that Yin Zhitao had seen the Oasis Matchmaking Agency devour Wang Tao.

After losing her status as a Dimension Operator, she had been living in a state of regret and pain. To make herself feel better, she had been brainwashing herself into believing that giving everything up was the right choice-that Paradise was a bad place and that she would have met a gruesome end if she had continued her business.

Gu Huaiwei was unfazed by Yin Zhitao’s curse; instead, she was quite interested in that blood-red eye.

“Your eye has a function like that?”

That kind of ability was actually quite practical.

It was a pity there was a layer of glass between them, preventing her from prying the eyelid open to study it further.

“That eye must be a good item you obtained in another Dimension, right?” Gu Huaiwei covered her mouth, her glasses reflecting the light. “It’s a nice thing. I kind of want it.”
