Chapter 201

Fang Zhao and the others looked at each other in bewilderment. They had watched with their own eyes as Gu Huaiwei tossed the driver out of the car. When the driver scrambled back and leaped onto the windshield, Gu Huaiwei had ruthlessly brushed him off with the wipers. They didn’t dare say a word.

They were terrified that the Oasis Sanatorium was just another Instance.

The air grew thick and heavy.

Sitting in the back, they fell into a deathly silence.

Finally, it was the Class Monitor, Fang Zhao, who broke the silence. He swallowed hard and asked, “Shopkeeper Gu, what are the fees for your Oasis Sanatorium?”

“You’ll know once we get there.” There was a price list posted in the shop; it was all very clear.

Bai Yuzhen also spoke up cautiously, “You said that as soon as the quota of twelve guests is filled, we can leave, right?”

“That’s right. I’m a woman of my word.” Seeing how parched and nervous they were, Gu Huaiwei took three bottles of orange juice out of her Jade Bracelet and tossed them over. “My only requirement is twelve guests. Of course, if you find the environment of the Sanatorium to be decent by then and want to stay, you’re more than welcome to.”

Clutching the cold orange juice, Bai Yuzhen began to speculate wildly. Gu Huaiwei’s mention of twelve guests was likely a hint regarding their clear conditions.

She had to work hard to help Gu Huaiwei recruit more guests.

Only then could they safely leave the Oasis Sanatorium.

The car they had hijacked halfway through suddenly began to emit black smoke and creak as they entered the grounds of the Oasis Sanatorium. It then collapsed into a heap of scrap metal.

Gu Huaiwei stepped out of the driver’s seat.

Standing outside the vehicle, she looked at the totaled car with one hand on her hip. “How did it break?”

Fang Zhao walked over to Gu Huaiwei’s side and explained patiently, “This car’s mission was to take us to the Daily Newspaper Office Instance. But since you intercepted us halfway, the Daily Newspaper Office judged the entry as a failure. The power from other Instances that sustained the vehicle simply vanished.”

“Fine then.” Gu Huaiwei turned toward the courtyard and shouted, “He Xueyi! If you’re free, come over and clean this up. Throw this scrap metal away.”

He Xueyi strolled out, dressed in his white robes. “Shop Manager Miss, there are three employees in the shop. Why must you call for me specifically?”

“Because I trust you.”

That was what she said, but it wasn’t what she was thinking.

Gu Huaiwei knew without even asking that He Xueyi must have been slacking off while she was out. She needed to assign him some chores immediately.

The Oasis Sanatorium did not support idlers.

“Where is Lin She?” Gu Huaiwei glanced into the courtyard but didn’t see him.

He Xueyi took out his White Feather Fan and gave the scrap metal a gentle flick. A violent gust of wind rose up, blowing the pile of junk into the nearby trash collection area.

This scene left Fang Zhao and the others dumbstruck.

Strange.

They felt this Sanatorium could be described in one word: strange!

He Xueyi said calmly, “He just brought back some other guests and is currently processing their registrations.”

Gu Huaiwei’s eyes lit up upon hearing this, her tone filled with anticipation. “How many did he bring back?”

“Six.”

This number exceeded Gu Huaiwei’s expectations.

She had been busy for days and only managed to bring back three.

Since arriving in this Dimension, Lin She had become even more gloomy and preoccupied than before. Not only did he speak less, but he also slept less.

Gu Huaiwei had thought he was in a slump and might slack off at work. She hadn’t expected that his way of relieving stress was to work twice as hard.

When Bai Miemie heard that Lin She had brought guests back to the Oasis Sanatorium first, she let out a small “Ah.” She looked up, her small face filled with conflict and disappointment.

“What’s wrong?” Gu Huaiwei asked.

Twiddling her fingers, she asked in a soft voice, “Then… does the reward for the first guest no longer belong to me?”
“Well, strictly speaking, that’s how it is.” Gu Huaiwei ruffled Bai Miemie’s curly white hair, offering a soft word of comfort. “There will be another chance next time.”

“Wahaha, I really thought following Sister Gu meant a guaranteed win.” Bai Miemie scratched her head. “Lin She is mean. I’m not going to say a single word to him all week.”

Gu Huaiwei led Fang Zhao and the others into the shop.

By the time they entered, Lin She had already arranged rooms for the customers he had brought back.

The one-star Oasis Sanatorium felt somewhat empty. Lin She had cleaned up after his return, and the air was thick with the scent of disinfectant.

An oil painting of a Ferris wheel hung on the wall.

A set of dark brown leather sofas sat in the center of the lobby. On a small round table beside the sofa, there was a bouquet of slightly wilted Sunflowers. Gu Huaiwei invited Fang Zhao and the others to take a short rest on the sofa.

Fang Zhao, Xia Wenxin, and Bai Yuzhen all shared a habit: whenever they entered a new environment, they would subconsciously look for Rules.

Consequently, the first thing that caught their eyes was the price list posted in the Sanatorium lobby.

[Basic Fees]
Standard Recovery Room: 10 Days of Yang Lifespan per person per day.

[Nursing Fees]
Basic Nursing: Free, including daily care and basic health checks (e.g., blood pressure, temperature).

[Customized Meals]
Standard Meals: Free, included in the basic fees.

Gu Huaiwei explained from the side, “Currently, the Sanatorium is only open to the public for Standard Recovery Rooms. They are equipped with a single bed, a private bathroom, and simple furniture, providing basic nursing services.

“If you book a room, you can enjoy free nursing and free meals.

“Once the Sanatorium is upgraded later on, we will open Superior and Luxury Recovery Rooms, which will offer even higher-end services.”

“That’s not expensive,” Xia Wenxin said bluntly. “It’s much cheaper than I imagined. This price is even lower than some Low-level Anomalies.”

Fang Zhao thought the same, but he didn’t say it out loud.

He had always felt that there was no such thing as a free lunch.

If the benefits of the Oasis Sanatorium were this good, there shouldn’t be so few people here.

Perhaps there was a bigger trap waiting for them later.

Fang Zhao didn’t dare let his guard down.

Bai Yuzhen asked more cautiously, “Are there any other hidden fees here?”

“Rest assured, the prices are clearly marked,” Gu Huaiwei promised. “We will sign an agreement with you in advance for all treatments and services.”

Bai Yuzhen nodded. “Then we will go by the agreement. The agreement needs to clearly state twelve days and must include a clause for no additional charges.”

“That’s fine,” she agreed with a nod.

The front desk was located on the left side of the lobby. Gu Huaiwei walked behind the dark wooden counter, pulled three agreement templates from a drawer, filled in the number of days and the additional clauses, and handed them to the three of them.

Bai Yuzhen was the Learning Committee Member, and her dream was to study law. After receiving the contracts, she read through the terms word by word. Only after confirming there were no traps did she sign her name.

Once the agreements were signed, Gu Huaiwei saw the occupancy number on the Oasis Sanatorium’s computer change to ten.

“Miemie, take the three customers to their rooms.”

Bai Miemie came skipping over. “Big brother, big sisters, please follow me.”

Fang Zhao and the others followed Bai Miemie upstairs.

Lin She had just finished settling his customers and was coming down from upstairs.

Gu Huaiwei rested her chin on one hand while looking at the computer. She didn’t look up, but she could distinguish the faint, cold, damp fragrance coming from Lin She.

“Lin She, are you free? If you are, come on another business trip with me.”

“When?”

“Now.” Gu Huaiwei still had to return to the Library.
