The young train attendant knew Gu Huaiwei was helping him.

He immediately shook off the girl pestering him, went to Gu Huaiwei’s side, supported her, and quickly left the carriage.

Gu Huaiwei instructed Bai Miemie to stay behind and keep collecting the debt. She was not to let the old woman and her grandson run off.

Lulu followed behind Gu Huaiwei, acting as a dutiful Contract Anomaly.

Feeling the human warmth of Gu Huaiwei’s body, the young attendant asked quietly, “Are you human too?”

Gu Huaiwei nodded.

She felt a little gratified. Finally, someone had immediately taken her for a human instead of an Anomaly.

“This is a two-person Instance. The Trial-taker who came in with me is already dead.” Grief showed on the young attendant’s face. “Are you someone who was trapped in the Instance before and couldn’t get out? Are there other people in this carriage in the same situation as you?”

Having more human companions would make the attendant feel safer.

They did not see the Hospital Director.

A Noble Lady in a mink coat hurried forward in black high heels and said to the attendant, “My husband went to the restroom and has been missing for more than half an hour. He has an important meeting at the hospital tomorrow that he must attend. Please, you must help me find my husband!”

Lulu tugged her bangs down to cover the birthmark on her face. “Today is my birthday.”

The Noble Lady turned her head away, no longer willing to look at her. “We transfer you a fixed amount of money every month. You need to learn to arrange your own birthday instead of coming here to tell me about it.”

Even after this mother and daughter had both become part of the Anomaly, their conversation was still utterly devoid of warmth.

Just then, the young conductor’s scream came from the direction of the restroom.

They were some distance away, but Gu Huaiwei’s hearing was sharp enough to catch it.

Gu Huaiwei’s main target was the Hospital Director, not the Director’s Wife.

Gu Huaiwei had no choice but to search the restroom stall herself. She found that there was no one inside.

“Where did he run off to?” Gu Huaiwei left the restroom. As she walked down the aisle, she tripped over a gap in the floorboards.

“Hiss-”

Gu Huaiwei crouched down to inspect the floor and discovered that the train’s floorboards had actually come loose. That plank could be lifted up.

Cold wind poured in through the empty, gaping hole.

It gave Gu Huaiwei a bad feeling.

And Lulu kept staring at that hole.

Just then, the sound of a phone ringing came from Car No. 0 again.

The Noble Lady walked over, panic written across her face, and said to the conductor, “Hurry and notify the train captain to stop the train. My husband seems to have fallen off.”

“How do you know that?”
