Chapter 80

Bai Niao and Qian Xia watched longingly as the group of children solicited customers near the High-Speed Rail station and the Bus stop.

They wanted to earn some extra money too.

After much private discussion, the two little ones finally decided that Bai Niao would approach Gu Huaiwei, making small talk about all sorts of trivial topics before finally bringing up their request to go out and find customers.

“Next time, just say what you want. I’m not scary,” Gu Huaiwei flicked Bai Niao on the forehead, then agreed to his request.

Letting her own people take a cut of the profits wasn’t a bad idea either.

Gu Huaiwei told Bai Niao to look after Qian Xia, to pay attention to safety, and not to stray too far from the hotel. She allowed them half a day each week to go out and take on similar jobs.

The two little ones ran out, overjoyed.

At times like this, Li Niang would always stand gently by Gu Huaiwei’s side, looking at her with loving affection.

Since coming to the Oasis Hotel, Li Niang had smiled more than she had in her entire previous life combined.

She felt incredibly lucky to have come here.

Although Gu Huaiwei wouldn’t let Li Niang call her “Master,” Gu Huaiwei was the only person Li Niang truly wanted to follow from the bottom of her heart.

Every day, Li Niang would ask Gu Huaiwei if she had taken her Nutrient Solution on time.

When Gu Huaiwei said she didn’t drink that stuff, Li Niang would worry whether the delicious food Gu Huaiwei ate was healthy and provided enough nutrition.

When it was cold, Li Niang would remind Gu Huaiwei to wear more clothes.

If she saw Gu Huaiwei get up in the morning without brushing her hair, she would take a comb and braid it for her.

Even though there were Cleaning Robots in the hotel, Li Niang still liked to tidy up the messy pens and notebooks at the front desk herself for Gu Huaiwei.

Gu Huaiwei had never experienced motherly love.

She didn’t know if Li Niang’s meticulous care was a form of motherly love, but she truly cherished Li Niang’s affection.

To be loved is always rare.

Business at the Oasis Hotel was booming.

Gu Huaiwei also welcomed her first customer from the Upper District.

A thousand meters from the hotel, at the High-Speed Rail station, a tall man and woman stepped out, both wearing the most advanced transparent Protective Shields.

The woman carried a Giant Steel Blade on her back and used binoculars to survey the surroundings.

The man wore a mask, a katana at his waist, hands in his pockets, crushing the grass underfoot.

The wind and sand lifted the hems of their clothes.

They both came from the Third District, raised by the Neon Nest, and were the most vicious and elite watchdogs.

Ever since the High-Speed Rail inexplicably appeared at the gates of the Neon Nest in the Upper District, they had followed the orders of the Great One, detonating dozens of tons of explosives in an attempt to destroy the station.

However, the High-Speed Rail station that had appeared out of nowhere was immune to any external damage.

The woman double-checked with her binoculars, then showed a look of astonishment. “There’s actually such a large Oasis in the Radiation Zone!”

Lush green grass grew wildly in the Radiation Zone.

Even though she was used to the greenery of the Upper District, this vast expanse of green was still beyond her imagination.

“Hide your identity. Don’t use force yet. Find the source of all this and bring them back for interrogation,” the man said little, but his tone was ruthless. “As for the others, if they’re useless and get in the way, kill them.”

The woman nodded lightly. “Understood.”

Inside the Oasis Hotel, Gu Huaiwei, busy upgrading the outdoor plant decorations that morning, hadn’t paid much attention to her appearance. She covered the mole on her face with foundation, wore slippers, and huddled in front of her computer, calculating the most cost-effective way to upgrade.

She had gradually transformed from a diligent office rookie who cared a lot about her appearance to a seasoned worker who focused on doing her job well and cared little about anything else.
The revolving door turned.

New customers arrived. Gu Huaiwei temporarily set aside her work, her gaze swiftly sweeping over the newcomers as she stood up to greet them.

“We want two of your most expensive rooms.” The man’s voice was brief and forceful.

These guests were quite extravagant.

Gu Huaiwei observed the two of them. The Protective Shields on their bodies shimmered with a golden hue, their Protective Suits were brand new and of high quality, their skin tone was normal, they had no bodyguards, and both carried cold weapons. They looked rather unusual.

“The Presidential Suite is 1,000 Gold Coins per day. How long would you like to stay?” Gu Huaiwei cheerfully tapped on the calculator.

“A month.”

“Would you like to apply for our membership card? There are special offers for in-house guests.”

The man refused bluntly: “No need, just charge us the standard rate.”

It seemed that the wealthy didn’t care about the hotel’s minor discounts.

Gu Huaiwei raised her eyebrows slightly, silently assessing the background of these “rich people.”

She then took out the Identity Authentication Machine and politely handed it to them. “Please swipe your identity cards.”

Gu Huaiwei produced the Identity Authentication Machine for them to swipe their identity cards.

“Beep-”

The machine emitted a warning sound: “False identity detected. Please re-authenticate.”

Both of them stiffened at once.

Impossible!

The air instantly grew tense.

Gu Huaiwei looked up, her smile undiminished, her eyes curved as she gazed at the two guests who had placed their hands on their weapons.

“Dear guests, please use your real identity cards to register.”

They had actually been found out.

The woman was shocked. The fake identity system they had prepared in advance could pass all identity checks in the Middle District and Lower District.

How did this hotel detect it immediately?

Could it be that this hotel was run by people from the Upper District?

Impossible!

The Upper District was so far from here.

If this hotel really had ties to the Upper District, those old men wouldn’t have sent them to investigate.

The man’s gaze remained fixed on the Security Robots inside the hotel.

He keenly noticed that those Security Robots were the latest models developed in the Upper District.

Not only that, some were even still in the research phase-how did this hotel get their hands on finished products?

Since entering, he had only seen a very ordinary young girl at the front desk. Thick glasses and bangs almost covered half her face. Other than not wearing a Protective Suit, there was nothing special about her.

How could such a large hotel be run by just one young, ordinary girl?

There must be someone powerful behind this hotel!

Beneath his mask, the man was on full alert.

“If you don’t use your real identity cards, you can’t stay here,” Gu Huaiwei reminded them again as she watched the two standing motionless before her.

“Sorry, we swiped the wrong card just now.” The woman couldn’t figure Gu Huaiwei out and didn’t dare cause trouble. She casually gave an excuse and swiped her identity card again.

Due to the hotel’s upgrade, even the registration system was more detailed than before.

As the card was successfully swiped, the computer displayed their personal information.
