Fox Pet - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
With the original owner’s memories, removing the Heart-Devouring Curse from Jiang Mian became very simple.
It didn’t even take two seconds.
After lifting the curse, I rummaged in my Storage Bag for a while and pulled out two pills, tossing them to Jiang Yu.
“Take these with warm water, circulate your qi for half an hour, and your internal injuries will mostly heal.”
The little fox had skin like ice and bones of jade, a body as white as moon satin, dazzling to the eye.
But with my keen sight, I could tell at a glance that he was broken inside.
I’d heard that Zhaiyue Pavilion had a set of cruel beast-taming methods that left no marks on the skin but inflicted great suffering.
No doubt the siblings had endured much.
“Thank you, Master.”
Jiang Yu cradled the pills and looked at me gratefully, though he hid the doubt in his eyes well.
Foxes are clever and cunning.
Even though I had just saved his sister, he wouldn’t fully believe I was a good person.
But it didn’t matter.
I didn’t care what Jiang Yu thought of me.
I merely wanted to plant a seed of goodwill.
That way, I could avoid a future where he came seeking revenge, ripped out my heart, and crushed it before my eyes.
Chapter 3
The next day, I sat on my palanquin with my two new pets, leaving Zhaiyue Pavilion in high profile.
When we reached Mount Lan, I had them disembark.
Jiang Yu didn’t understand but obediently helped Jiang Mian down.
I dissolved the Master-Servant Contract binding them, then waved my hand and tossed down a pouch of Spirit Stones and a few life-saving Scatter Talismans.
“You’re free to go.”
The two little foxes stared at me blankly, somehow adorable.
I couldn’t help but smile.
“The Master-Servant Contract is dissolved. You’re free now. You can go wherever you wish from now on.”
Jiang Yu and Jiang Mian exchanged a look, then stepped forward.
“Master-”
“I’m not your master.”
I cut them off, pointing to the mountain path.
“The two blue talismans in the pouch are not to be used unless you’re truly at a dead end. Go on. Don’t get caught again.”
Jiang Yu stared at me intently, as if trying to find a trace of deceit on my face.
He didn’t believe I would really let them go.
How could anyone release the famed Snow Foxes, the holy grail of Cauldrons, especially when his Primordial Yang was still intact?
He was sure that I, the capricious Silver Feather Immortal Maid, had some other trick in store for them.
But he was soon proven wrong.
I had already ordered my attendants to continue on, and in a short while, the palanquin vanished from their sight.
