I Cultivate the Dao of Pure Hatred - Chapter 3
Wiping my tears, I looked up at Yue Jingqing with a pitiful sniffle.
To my surprise, more than half the black mist around him had vanished.
When one examined the sources of Yue Jingqing’s hatred, it made sense. Half had belonged to Xie Yunzhou, and the other half to me, Xie Yunzhou’s spirit beast.
Now that Xie Yunzhou had run off with the rabbit, he had taken a great wave of Yue Jingqing’s hatred with him.
If I didn’t form a contract now, when would I?
“Immortal, will you contract with me? I’m very useful—hic.”
I did my best imitation of the Jade Rabbit and added a sobbing hiccup. Biting my lower lip, I gazed at him through a haze of tears.
Yue Jingqing turned his face away. The hand holding his sword trembled.
Just as I decided negotiations had failed and I would have to knock him unconscious, he finally spoke.
“Let us form a contract.”
His voice was cool and detached, without a trace of earthly emotion.
As expected of a cultivator of the Way of Emotionlessness—his emotional control was impeccable. Although he hated me to the bone, his manners gave nothing away.
Of course, if he refused me, he would leave the sanctuary without a single spirit beast.
Suppressing my delight at the success of my scheme, I guided him into forming a life-sharing contract.
Why that particular contract? Because it was the hardest one to dissolve.
In our previous lives, Xie Yunzhou had scoured the world for ancient formulas. Even then, he only broke our bond by sacrificing an entire cultivation realm and suffering grievous damage.
Yue Jingqing no longer had the Mirror of Reincarnation—it had shattered after a single use. There was no way he had another ancient formula lying around to return me.
When he saw me drawing an intricate formation on the ground with a bone pen, emotion finally stirred across his face.
“Do you truly mean to form a life-sharing contract with me?”
“Of course.”
“Once we do, I can lend you my power.”
I held the bone pen and gave him my most innocent look.
“Our cultivation and lifespans will be shared. Do you understand? If I am gravely wounded or killed, you will also—”
I cut him off.
“But I like life-sharing contracts. Living and dying together—isn’t that beautiful?”
My face was all sweetness. Inside, I knew exactly what I was doing.
Once Yue Jingqing and I shared our lives, my new pure-hate partner could never betray me while I gathered hatred.
He studied me for so long that I began to think he would refuse. At last, he inclined his head.
“If you insist, then so be it.”
The formation flared as each of us offered a drop of blood from the heart. Light flooded the cavern.
The contract was sealed.
I curled my lips in delight and dropped the meek spirit-beast act at once. Resuming my true form as a black dragon, I bolted for the sanctuary’s exit like an unbridled horse, dragging Yue Jingqing behind me.
