Just then, the Extra System suddenly came back from the dead inside my head.

He was too weak to even stand, yet he still insisted on baring his teeth at me.

I approached him bit by bit.

When it thundered, I stayed by his side and told him not to be afraid.

At first light, I went up the mountain to catch chickens and rabbits, my arms scratched bloody by the shrubs.

All so Little Wolf could have fresh meat.

After so much effort, I finally built trust with Little Wolf.

I could pet him. I could bury my face in his fur.

I raised him until his coat was glossy and sleek, until he grew tall, strong, and handsome.

Three years of devotion, and all I got in return were five words:

[You have been fired.]

Did an extra’s life not count as a life?

True heartbreak wasn’t screaming and making a scene.

Sang Ge noticed my mood had dropped.

He wanted to comfort me.

So he leaned in and licked my ear.

I was so frightened I retreated three steps.

I backed all the way up against the wall, with nowhere left to go.

Sang Ge pinned me to the wall.

He leaned close to my neck, revealing his sharp canine teeth.

His eyes were filled with devotion.

“Nian Nian, will you form a Bonding with me?”
