I Replaced My Bratty Blood Servant - Chapter 2
Vandro worked fast.
The very next day, a blond, green-eyed blood servant stood before me. The beautiful boy held out a hand with a gentle smile.
“Hello, Master. You may call me Evan.”
I could not tear my eyes from his face.
So pretty.
Even prettier than Fael.
Heat rose to my cheeks. Flustered, I reached out and shook his hand. “H-hello. You don’t have to call me Master. You can use my name. I’m Sian.”
Evan tilted his head, his sea-green eyes clear as the ocean. “May I call you An-An?” he asked softly.
He was so beautiful.
Even my ears began to burn. I nodded hard. “Y-yes.”
Evan took me by the wrist and led me to the sofa. Then he unfastened his shirt, revealing the smooth, pale curve of his neck.
“Master, please leave your mark on me.”
He gazed at me with such tenderness while saying something so mortifying that I nearly steamed from the top of my head. I spun away and took careful little breaths, trying to calm myself.
Evan mistook my reaction for rejection. His green eyes dimmed, loneliness clouding them.
“Does Master not like Evan?”
Alarmed, I waved both hands. “No, no! That’s not it!”
He moved closer. “Then why won’t you leave your mark on me?”
I clenched my fists on my knees, miserable.
My teeth were different from those of other vampires. They were neither long nor sharp—just two short little fangs, like a puppy’s milk teeth. Fael had mocked them more than once, saying he could not understand how a vampire could have such ugly teeth.
I did not dare show them. What if Evan looked at me with the same disgust and ridicule?
Pressing my lips together to hide my fangs, I shook my head. “There’s no need. You don’t have to bear my mark to be my blood servant.”
“Then what must I do to be An-An’s blood servant?”
I turned back, my eyes brightening. “Stay with me. That’s all. Just stay.”
Perhaps he had not expected that answer. Evan went still and lowered his lashes, hiding whatever moved beneath them.
Just as I began to wonder whether I had said something wrong, he looked up again. His eyes were as gentle as ever, warm enough to drown in.
“I’ll stay with our An-An for the rest of my life.”
The rest of his life…
My mind went blank. This was the second time someone had promised to stay with me forever.
The first had been Vandro.
He had broken that promise.
Would Evan break his too?
It felt as though an invisible hand had closed around my heart. “You really won’t leave me?” I asked anxiously.
Evan paused, then cupped my face with infinite tenderness. Smiling, he swore he would stay forever.
I believed him.
The soft kiss he gave me sent my heart racing and made my fangs ache to emerge. I wanted to bite him.
Evan saw through me. He gently encircled the back of my neck and offered his throat to my lips.
His low voice held the coaxing sweetness of a devil. “It’s all right. Bite me, An-An. Go on. Every part of me belongs to you.”
I succumbed to temptation. I became a bad child.
My fangs broke his skin, and sweet, fresh blood welled out for me to lick and swallow greedily. Evan’s skin flushed. His gaze grew hazy, but his hand remained at my nape, stroking in slow, soothing passes.
“That’s right. Just like that. Good… An-An.”
A bond formed in our blood. I sensed Evan’s breathing deepen, and time seemed to stop—until the door slammed open.
I looked back in alarm. Rage had twisted Fael’s beautiful face. With a shriek, he rushed over and shoved Evan away.
Evan had no time to react. He fell hard to the floor.
“Ah.”
I hurried to help him, but Fael seized my arm.
“Don’t touch him! Sian, I’m your blood servant! Why did you betray me? Why?”
His fury had stripped away all his usual poise. He was forever accusing me of lacking a vampire noble’s dignity—calling me meek and cowardly—yet now he was the one screaming without a shred of decorum. His fingers dug painfully into my arm.
I shook him off, displeased. “You’re not my blood servant anymore.”
Fael stared at me in disbelief. He could not accept that the mixed-blood vampire who had once had eyes only for him might have cast him aside of his own accord.
“What are you talking about?”
I helped Evan carefully to his feet. The scrape on the back of his hand looked painfully vivid against his white skin. His face had gone pale, but he still shook his head and murmured, “Don’t blame him. I lost my footing.”
Fael went berserk. Pointing at Evan, he shouted, “What are you pretending for? I barely pushed you! You threw yourself down and scraped your own hand on purpose. You’re acting weak!”
I stepped in front of Evan and faced Fael, unhappy.
“Fael, I used to like you very much. You said my feelings disgusted you. Now you’ve gotten what you wanted. I don’t like you anymore, so stay away from my person.”
Fael’s fingertips trembled. His eyes reddened. “Your person? Sian, I’m your blood servant!”
“You threw me away for this bitch?”
I frowned. “Don’t insult him. His name is Evan. And I was the one who asked to dissolve our bond. It had nothing to do with anyone else.”
Confusion mingled with Fael’s shock. He could not believe the vampire who had adored him would willingly end their relationship.
“Why?”
I tilted my head and thought about it seriously. “Because you’re too much trouble.”
“I’m trouble?”
Fael looked appalled. It took him a long moment to understand that I truly did not like him anymore.
At last, he regained his composure and raised his proud chin. “Sian, are you certain you want to break our bond and choose this scheming little innocent instead?”
“Stop insulting him.” I pursed my lips and nodded. “Yes. Fael, we aren’t right for each other.”
He sneered. “Fine. You said it. Don’t regret it later.”
I nodded solemnly. “All right. I definitely won’t.”
Fael faltered, clearly unprepared for such resolve. He turned and strode away.
When he was nearly at the door, I called after him.
He stopped and laughed coldly. “I knew you’d regret it. Too late, Sian. Nothing you say will change my mind this time—unless you…”
I scratched my head. “I don’t regret it. I just wanted to ask if you’re going to take your things. They’re using up space.”
