Qi Jue couldn’t move, so I considerately took matters into my own hands.

The instant I pulled his clothes open, I felt his body tremble.

I stared at the blood-red, web-like patterns covering his chest, and my eyes lit up at once.

Qi Jue’s hand clamped around my neck, his eyes faintly red. “Who are you?”

I was silent for a moment. Then I removed his powerless hand from my neck and patted him on the head.

After hurrying back to the Gu Mansion without stopping, I was so excited I didn’t sleep all night.

As soon as the sky began to lighten, I climbed out of bed and started packing.

Gu Hai rushed over as soon as he heard the news. “Senior Sister, what are you doing?”

I packed away my pouch of silver needles, along with all my little bottles and jars, then turned to look at him.

“Your senior sister is going to do something big.”

After I explained my plan to Gu Hai in full, he stood there in a daze for a long time, unable to recover.

In a wonderful mood, I hummed a tune and picked up my bundle to leave.

He grabbed my arm. “Senior Sister, are you really going into the palace?”

I nodded.

“That place isn’t like the Gu Mansion, where you can do whatever you want. One careless move, and you really could die!”

I looked at him and said only, “Your senior sister is still capable of protecting herself.”

“I must find a way to cure Bai Guanyin.”

Gu Hai and I looked at each other for a moment. Then he looked away.
