It's Roast Duck - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
That ache in my heart lasted all the way until the next day.
Since Qin Tian’s brother kept dragging his feet and refusing to show up, I decided to make a trip to their home myself.
“Teacher, my brother said he’ll be home in half an hour. I’m going to my room to do homework first.”
Qin Tian hung up the landline, picked up the little backpack beside him, and went into his room by himself.
No crying, no fussing, no TV. The moment he got home, he didn’t even need anyone to remind him-he took the initiative to do his homework.
He was so well-behaved it was almost ridiculous.
My disgust toward his brother rose by several more degrees.
After secretly cursing his brother out in my head, there was finally movement at the door.
Out of basic politeness, I stood up, ready to exchange a few courteous words first.
“Hello, Qin Tian’s Older Brother, I-”
Holy shit.
Broad shoulders, narrow waist, long legs, dark skin.
With looks like that, even a mold couldn’t have made him more perfect.
No wonder he was a gigolo.
The figure at the door suddenly froze. Seeing me go silent, he walked over and waved a hand in front of my face.
“Teacher Su Su?”
From far away, I couldn’t tell.
Only when he came closer did I realize that not only was his build exceptional, his entire face was outrageously handsome too.
Strong brow bones, eyes black as lacquer, thin lips slightly parted.
Only his long, curly lashes added a bit of contrasting softness to his sharply defined features.
I hurriedly turned away.
Inwardly, I couldn’t help condemning myself for acting like I hadn’t seen a handsome man in eight hundred years.
“Teacher Su Su, have some water.”
A pair of hands with long, distinct knuckles passed before my eyes, and a glass of water was gently set on the table in front of me.
“Hello, teacher. My name is Qin Lang. I’m Qin Tian’s older brother. Has he been causing trouble at school lately?”
Qin Lang sat down across from me, legs spread as he instinctively leaned back.
But three seconds later, he abruptly sat up straight again and gave an unnatural smile.
“Sorry, teacher. I just finished work, so I’m a little tired.”
Finished work.
I instantly caught the key phrase.
So what if Qin Lang was handsome?
His line of business was hardly respectable.

I cleared my throat. “Qin Tian’s Older Brother, I came today because I wanted to talk to you about your work.”
Qin Lang straightened up and nodded solemnly. “All right. Please go ahead.”
“It’s about what you do…”
Before I could even say it, shame flooded over me first.
If I said that word outright, what if Qin Lang couldn’t handle it?
I made an emergency turn. “Is your family going through some kind of hardship? Why did you think of getting into that kind of business?”
Qin Lang’s eyes dimmed at once.
“A few years ago, my parents were fighting over a divorce. In the end, neither of them wanted custody of me or Qin Tian, so they abandoned us and left.”
He smiled again. “Teacher, Qin Tian and I are doing much better now. The business may not be very classy, and I get myself filthy every time, but at least it lets Qin Tian live a good life. That’s enough for me.”
I closed my eyes.
My mind was filled with one thought: I truly deserve to die.
All the accusations I’d made against him before understanding the truth now turned into guilt.
“Qin Tian’s Older Brother, I’m sorry. I didn’t know your family was in this kind of situation, but…”
Damn it.
I could barely keep going.
For the sake of getting this over with quickly, and also for Qin Tian’s future mental and physical development, I still decided to lay everything out for him.
“When you’re doing… doing that, try to avoid Qin Tian. He’s still young, so he doesn’t understand these things now, but what about when he grows up? How will he see you then?
“Or do you have any plans to switch careers? I can help introduce you to a proper job.”
Looking at Qin Lang’s bewildered expression, I grew anxious.
“You could be a security guard, or deliver takeout. Qin Tian is so well-behaved, and you’re still so young. Why do you have to be a-”
“Brother! You’re back!”
A chubby little figure flashed past and threw himself straight into Qin Lang’s arms.
“Brother, I finished my homework. My tummy’s hungry.”
Qin Tian blinked his big eyes and looked pitifully at Qin Lang.
Only when Qin Lang reached behind him and pulled out a gigantic lollipop did Qin Tian’s eyes instantly light up.
“Teacher Su Su, stay for dinner. If there’s anything else, we can keep talking at the table.”
Qin Lang carried Qin Tian onto the sofa, then got up to cook.
I quickly waved my hands. After hurriedly saying goodbye, I grabbed my bag from the sofa and rushed to the door as if fleeing for my life.
Qin Tian was there too. I couldn’t exactly talk about his brother being a gigolo at the dinner table.
I had to think of another way.
