Novel Info

We found a nearby medical clinic and had Song Yuhuan’s wounds given basic treatment.

He kept talking deliriously in his sleep.

“I can’t die. I have to go back alive.

“I promised her I’d never abandon her.

“I can’t die…

“Jiangjiang…”

We found the best physician, and with me feeding him pure blood every day, we finally brought Song Yuhuan back from the King of Hell’s grasp.

But he would never be able to wield a sword with his right hand again.

For the General Who Defends the Realm, it was unquestionably a devastating blow.

Even though he didn’t show it in front of me, I could feel his pain.

As I applied medicine to him, I said, “Well, now you can only use your left hand for your sword.

“That leaves your right hand free to hold mine.”

His gloomy eyes suddenly lit up.

He gently took my hand in his right, his voice soft as water. “All right. From now on, that’s what I’ll use it for.”

I drew his clothes loosely over him and pretended to be angry. “Why did you act alone? You were supposed to meet A-Pei once you’d driven Wurile back.”

He explained, “Without Wurile, they won’t dare invade our country recklessly. That will give us several years of peace. Besides…”

He paused. “He shouldn’t have aimed that arrow at you.”

So there’d been a personal grudge involved too.

Though I felt a glow of happiness, I still warned him, “Whatever happens, you can’t keep us in the dark and act alone again.”

He nodded obediently. “All right. Whatever you say.”

“Oh, right.” Something suddenly occurred to me. “What are you going to do with Qin Zhao?”

Song Yuhuan looked at me, his eyes full of laughter, though his tone remained even. “Whatever you say.”

That sly look.

Deliberately, I said, “Kill her and throw her out!”

He only smiled. “All right.”

Oh, honestly.

I waved a hand. “Forget it. Wurile was using her younger brother to threaten her. Her brother’s dead now too, and she still doesn’t know. Send her out of the residence and let her fend for herself.”

He had only one answer. “Whatever you say.”

I gave him a sidelong look and said casually, “Who am I to you, anyway, that you keep saying that?”

The room suddenly grew quiet, making the rustling trees outside all the more audible.

The fresh scent of medicinal herbs filled the room.

I saw Song Yuhuan’s lips move slightly.

He laid a hand against my neck and began leaning closer, unable to restrain his feelings.

At that instant, he seemed to remember something.

He sent a murderous glance to the side.

A-Pei, who’d been silent all this time, shuddered.

He promptly lowered his head and retreated, muttering, “I’ve been wanting to leave for ages.”

At last, A-Pei was gone.

Yuhuan could hold back no longer and closed in.

His soft lips covered mine, hungry and demanding.

We kissed, entangled and reluctant to part, expressing all our endless longing.

His lips gently brushed mine, like a child asking for sweets. “Jiangjiang, will you be my wife?”

I shyly agreed.

Song Yuhuan kissed me again, but I felt something strange.

“You’re poking me.”

Gone was the shyness of our first meeting. He turned and pressed me beneath him.

His lips curved in a smile, his eyes full of delight.

“You’ll understand on our wedding day.”
