Little Cat - Chapter 4
The energy crystal never came.
Instead, I received a new test report from the Lu family.
They’d had it rushed through.
It stated, unmistakably, that Ming Xia and Lu Peiran had a psychic compatibility rate of ninety-two percent.
That was very high indeed.
I studied the report in silence.
To my surprise, I wasn’t as sad as I’d expected to be.
A young man had been delivered along with it.
The Lu family’s people said he was the new partner Lu Peiran had personally selected for me.
“The young master has a kind heart. Considering all the years you’ve spent protecting him, this more than settles his obligation to you.”
The man spoke with his nose in the air, yanking the young man roughly.
“Your spirit form needs soothing, doesn’t it? Let him have a go!”
Then he barked at him to release his psychic power.
The young man’s head was lowered.
I couldn’t see his expression, but I caught the slight tremor running through his thin body.
He must be frightened.
That was only natural.
“You’re hurting him.”
A tentacle stopped the man’s hand.
I paused, then asked, “Is this what A-Ran wants?”
“Of course.”
His gaze flickered.
The report crumpled in my tight grip.
I took a deep breath, looked up, and smiled. “All right. Please thank A-Ran for me.”
“At least you know your place.”
Satisfied, the man left.
The young man remained, standing there foolishly, afraid to move a muscle.
I sighed and began hesitantly, “Don’t worry. I don’t actually need—”
Before I could finish, a tentacle that had barely recovered wound around his wrist with practiced ease.
The words of comfort I’d prepared stuck in my throat.
My eyes went wide.
“S-sorry!”
I frantically tried to suppress the disobedient tentacle.
Very few people liked my spirit form.
Lu Peiran had told me more than once that the tentacles disgusted him.
Afraid of frightening this timid-looking boy, I hurried to explain.
“Don’t worry! They won’t hurt you!”
But my usually obedient tentacles seemed glued to him. They absolutely refused to leave.
I was about to scold them when the psychic power coming through the tentacle made me go rigid.
Unfamiliar.
Yet somehow familiar, too.
Most of the lingering pain in my body was instantly soothed away.
In its place came a wild craving I’d never felt even with Lu Peiran.
Desire screamed for more—
“You really are dense.”
The voice was lazy.
He gave a warning tug to the tentacle trying to misbehave and slip under his clothes.
Aggrieved, it could only slide between his fingers and curl clingingly around their well-defined joints.
The young man lifted his head.
He swept back his overlong fringe, revealing an astonishingly beautiful face.
He was nothing like the timid, frightened person he’d appeared to be a moment before.
Making himself right at home, he curled up on the sofa and muttered, “Not soft at all.”
Then he looked up, raising a brow.
“Even your tentacles recognized me. You still haven’t figured it out?”
I blinked, staring blankly at everything unfolding before me.
