Luofu Dream - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Whether the girl agreed or not didn’t matter.
What mattered was that, looking at that pretty face of hers, the madam couldn’t quite bring herself to truly beat her to death.
She merely had the girl moved out of the dark room, tossed her into the rear courtyard to recover from her injuries, and told the people looking after her that only when the girl came around and agreed to receive clients would she be given good food and drink.
The girl couldn’t endure it. Day and night, she called for me.
Never mind that I was a god-even if I were a ghost, I couldn’t stand being called like that, as if she were summoning a soul.
Left with no choice, I had to show myself.
The girl wanted me to give her a cheat ability, saying that as long as it could make things a little easier for her, that would be enough.
I said no. Our contract contained no such request, and demands like that, which went beyond the rules governing this world, consumed an enormous amount of magical power-which meant extra incense offerings were required.
But the girl couldn’t provide any.
She could barely offer me many incense offerings to begin with. And for such an absurd, heaven-defying, unreasonable request? Unless she built me eight or ten temples and gilded eight or ten divine statues for me, there was no way I could muster that kind of magical power.
Otherwise, she would have me fulfill her wish and bring her to a time and space where that wish could be realized, then have me burn through my own magical power for nothing to break the rules of that world for her, helping her live a life as a top courtesan with countless servants, dressed in brocade and feasting on delicacies. And in the end, without incense offerings to sustain me, my magical power would dissipate, I’d suffer the backlash, and my soul would be scattered into nothing.
That would make her like Qin Shi Huang grabbing a live wire-winning so hard she went numb. But where in the world was there such a good deal!
I was a god, not some sucker!
Furious, she picked up a stone and hurled it at me, but the stone passed straight through my body and landed on the ground behind me.
“Are you going to help me or not!”
The girl cried and screamed as she pressed me for an answer.
Before I even had time to reply, the door to the dark room was opened.
The commotion she caused had still alerted the people keeping watch outside. The madam thought the girl was trying to escape, and in a fit of anger, simply had her thrown into the small dungeon in the rear courtyard of Jinyu Pavilion.
