Magic Academy Mayhem: A Class Full of Maniacs - Chapter 27
Chapter 27
“Cynthia, do you know why I despise you so much?” Abel suddenly asked.
Cynthia’s gaze settled on him.
Those eyes, black as dark crystal, were exactly as they had been in the original owner’s memories. They had never held anything but loathing and rejection.
However…
“You’re a cockroach. Where do you get off running your mouth so much?”
Cynthia tapped a finger against her temple. “If you hate me, then go die. A dog that only knows how to bark just loves clawing for attention to show off that bizarre sense of superiority of yours, huh? Did you smash your brain in a fall, or did it just never develop properly?”
Cynthia wasn’t the least bit worried about what would happen if she insulted the Crown Prince.
The academy’s rules stated that everyone was equal. As for what would happen once she left the academy… well, she would deal with that when the time came.
At the end of the day, she was still the daughter of a top noble family. No matter what, the Empire’s imperial family couldn’t possibly punish her just because she had cursed Abel out a few times.
This time, Abel didn’t keep shouting. But his entire face twisted with utter fury, making his originally decent-looking features seem somewhat terrifying.
“Blood Rage!”
The name of his sequence-exclusive skill was forced out from between his clenched teeth. From his tone alone, it was obvious just how foul his mood was.
A scarlet radiance enveloped him. His magic power, originally at six-star density, had been boosted by the skill all the way to seven-star…
Cynthia tightened her grip around the scythe shaft and poured her entire focus into the battle.
The domain and the myriad swords shattered at the same time. A cold arc curled across Abel’s lips. The longsword in his hand gleamed with a chilling light, and the entire arena was coated in ice and snow.
Snowflakes falling onto the back of her hand condensed into frost, eating into her like poison.
Cynthia forcibly dispersed the ice on the back of her hand with magic, then raised her hand to summon a defensive ring that blocked the frost and snow outside.
But Abel held nothing back this time. Bolstered by Blood Rage, he unleashed his strongest strike at once. “Endless Annihilation!”
With that furious roar, the once relatively calm arena was swept by raging winds. Snow flew wildly, and in the blink of an eye, the scene had transformed into a terrifying blizzard.
The void seemed to tear open. Swords formed from ice spikes and a tempest gathered from frost and snow swept toward Cynthia with an unstoppable force.
Cynthia’s heart sank. She immediately summoned two clones to resist it with her.
Endless ice spikes fell from the void like a torrential downpour, forcibly breaking through the protective barrier and stabbing toward Cynthia.
Though Cynthia was extremely fast, it was still difficult to escape unscathed when faced with countless attacks. Several wounds soon appeared across her body.
The violent currents of the tempest were like embedded blades, scraping over her skin and tearing bloody gashes into her.
Under the double assault of the tempest and ice spikes, both clones were ripped apart.
Cynthia’s true body was also shoved backward by the enormous current. She slammed into a stone pillar at the edge of the arena, and a sweet, metallic taste surged into her throat.
She had only just gotten up when the descending ice spikes instantly transformed into layer upon layer of icy walls, blocking every path ahead of her.
“Hahahaha…” Abel raised a hand to cover his face and let out a cold laugh.
His eyes churned with delight and contempt. “Did you think a piece of trash like you could truly stand against me?”
He strode forward and raised his sword, slashing viciously at Cynthia. Cynthia prepared to block, but her wrist had been frozen by frost and snow, making her movements so sluggish it was as if she had been slowed to half speed.
Unable to dodge completely, the tip of the sword sliced across her chest and abdomen. Her clothes tore open, and an extremely long wound appeared.
Not only that, but in the span of barely a second, frost had spread across her entire body, turning into a layer of restraint that froze her in place.
At that same moment, Abel lifted his sword again without the slightest hesitation, urgent and impatient, and drove it heavily into Cynthia’s chest.
As blood spread, Abel’s smile grew increasingly cruel. Like a ruler looking down upon all, his expression was filled with arrogance. “This ridiculous little play was nothing more than entertainment from beginning to end.”
“This ends now!” He forced the longsword in his hand downward, widening the bloody hole again and again.
Cynthia’s bloodstained hair clung to her gore-smeared cheeks. Her golden eyes had dimmed, as if she had given up resisting.
The spectators had already begun to cheer.
“I knew Cynthia was bound to lose! Someone like her winning two rounds was already dumb luck.”
“Exactly. Haha, serves her right.”
“Shit, she’s bleeding so much she’ll die, won’t she? Why haven’t they called the match yet?”
Seeing that the situation had turned bad, the host acting as part-time referee was just about to announce the result when the girl whose entire body had been frozen in frost suddenly shattered the ice around her and clutched the sword buried in her chest.
No one had expected her to still have strength left to fight back. The referee froze, and the spectators watching the stage subconsciously held their breath.
Abel was stunned for a moment too, but he quickly recovered. He tried to drive the sword in with all his strength, yet the power on the other end was even greater than his.
The blade sliced open her palm, but she still did not let go.
In the instant blood poured from her hand, she stepped forward. Her hand slid along the blade, exposing white bone.
Blood dripped to the ground, splashing into eerie crimson blossoms.
A bad feeling rose in Abel’s heart. He hurriedly poured out all his magic power, trying to force her back.
The moment lightning-like magic power surged through the blade, the corners of Cynthia’s lips suddenly curved up.
“Devour.”
The word spilled from her mouth, cold and utterly flat.
In an instant, Abel felt a tremendous suction force spreading along the sword. He immediately tried to resist, but the girl in front of him seemed to have gone mad. She completely ignored her own injuries and refused to retreat even half a step.
Under the disbelieving gazes of the audience and Abel himself, Abel’s gathered final strike was crushed entirely into Magic Element Form and absorbed by Cynthia.
At the same time, Cynthia gave him no chance to react.
She activated Mirror Clone, summoning four clones to block all the remaining icicles and storms.
As for her real body, she forcibly wrenched the longsword from him. Then… she drove it straight into his chest.
“Guh!”
The tearing pain made Abel writhe in agony. The impact of magic power felt as if it would churn his internal organs to pulp.
Cynthia did not hold back. Whatever he had done to her just now, she returned several times over.
With one hand, she seized him by the throat and slammed him hard against a stone pillar. She pulled the longsword embedded in his body back out, then stabbed him several more times.
The mangled flesh was horrific. Cynthia’s upturned eyes, dulled before by impatience, now shone brilliantly with excitement.
“Has she gone insane?!”
“…Holy shit, chunks of flesh are flying out! Are those piles of… organs? Fuck-◝₍ᴑ̑ДO͝₎◞”
“That’s terrifying! Aaaah!”
The referee hurriedly called for a stop, but the result was now completely different from before. “The match is over. Both parties are to stop immediately. Cynthia of Moon Soul Academy, Class 659, is the winner!”
Before the referee’s voice had fully faded, Cynthia did not forget to slap Abel across the face a few more times.
Once the result was officially announced, she could no longer attack. Cynthia found that rather boring.
She raised her hand and flung Abel, who was like a pile of sludge, to the ground, then stepped on his wrist as she walked past.
Halfway off the stage, Cynthia suddenly turned around and looked down at Abel. His body was a bloody mess, his face covered in blood, yet his eyes were filled with twisted shock.
She suddenly let out a soft laugh.
Her lowered gaze carried a few unconcealed traces of arrogance and disdain. At that moment, her gorgeous face was like a blooming datura-bewitching and dangerous. Yet her tone was as flat as stagnant water, chilling to hear.
“Your Highness, from now on, learn who the real ant is.”
