Chapter 136

The next day, the protagonist of the plot was a young lady named Honey.

Following the usual routine, a broadcast during breakfast informed everyone that Miss Honey had invited them to watch a magic show.

Miss Honey appeared as a magician, interacting with the audience to complete her performance.

The players arrived at the spectator stands on time.

Miss Honey was dressed as a clown, wearing exaggerated makeup. Once everyone was seated, she welcomed them with an incredibly enthusiastic attitude.

Wearing a clown hat and a red nose, Miss Honey stood barefoot on the stage in her multicolored clown suit. Her movements and speech were exaggerated and comical. “Welcome to Honey’s Magic World! I shall lead you all into the halls of fantasy magic. Cheer for me! Let’s heat things up!”

“Don’t be surprised. Even though I am the noble Miss Honey, I am more than willing to bring you joy and entertain you~”

“My first trick is very simple. I’ll perform a mind-reading act, but I’ll need to select some lucky volunteers to help me. Anyone want to come up?”

The entire venue was dead silent; no one raised a hand.

Miss Honey’s smile didn’t waver in the slightest. Despite the lack of volunteers, she directly pointed out a few ‘lucky’ audience members. Three players-two men and one woman-were forced onto the stage and seated in pre-arranged chairs.

“Oh my~ Now that the props are in place, don’t be nervous, babies. If your heart rate gets too fast, it will trigger the electric shock device on these punishment chairs~”

The three players held their breath, trying their best to stay calm.

Below the stage, Ye Susheng found the whole thing boring, but Hua Suihe looked quite intrigued.

Ye Susheng couldn’t help but lean in to talk to her. “Hua Hua, that Honey’s storybook is hidden inside her clown hat. I’ll go ask her for it later.”

Hua Suihe was surprised. “Huh? Is she working with a book balanced on her head right now?”

“Yeah, the storybook is quite small.” It just so happened that Honey’s head was empty, so the book fit perfectly inside.

Hua Suihe didn’t quite understand, but she respected the hustle. Seeing Miss Honey on stage leaning in to whisper in a player’s ear like a little devil, Hua Hua offered a sincere critique: “Miss Honey seems very professional.”

Ye Susheng was dismissive. “She has experience being a clown.”

Miss Honey’s voice echoed through the microphone into every corner. She leaned toward the female player, smiling as she whispered, “What a dark heart this girl has. You want to use your teammates, and you want to kill them too. Tsk, tsk. Killing the donkey once it’s outlived its usefulness? How fun~”

The female player’s heart jolted. Just as she was about to protest, the punishment chair’s electric shock activated. Current surged through her entire body. She couldn’t even scream, but she could smell her own charred flesh. In just ten seconds, she lost consciousness.

“Oh dear, wouldn’t it have been better to just admit it honestly?” Miss Honey shook her head with feigned regret. “I really like bad women, but I don’t particularly like bad women with such poor mental fortitude.”

Having finished, she moved on to her next target.

Eventually, all three players on stage were shocked into unconsciousness and carried off.

Then, the second act began: the head-separation magic trick.

Miss Honey used her own clown head as a demonstration first, performing a routine where her head was chopped off and held in her own hands. Afterward, she invited players to the stage to interact and complete the performance.

This head separation didn’t use mirrors or any typical magic tricks. It was a genuine decapitation; any player selected would undoubtedly die.

Everyone wished they could bury their heads in the ground to avoid being noticed by the person on stage.
At that exact moment, Miss Honey casually pointed her finger, selecting the most composed person in the audience: Hua Suihe.

Ye Susheng’s expression darkened instantly. A black mist billowed from her body, obscuring most of the lights in the venue as she bared her fangs at Honey.

Honey’s expression remained unchanged. In the stiflingly oppressive atmosphere, she used a joking tone to ease the tension. “Don’t be nervous. Magic may be mysterious, but it is perfectly safe. I’m not asking my honored guest to perform a decapitation on herself; I only need her to take the blade and cut off my head.”

“If the family member is worried, she is welcome to come up on stage as an escort.”

Ye Susheng couldn’t care less about her babbling. The black mist lunged forward, intent on flipping off the woman’s hat to retrieve the storybook; she didn’t want to stay in this boring magic theater for another second.

Just as the black mist was about to touch Honey’s hat, Hua Suihe reached out and grabbed Ye Susheng’s hand, shaking her head. “It’s okay. I’ll go up and help with the performance. The ‘family member’ can come along.”

She placed a heavy emphasis on the last sentence.

Ye Susheng reluctantly withdrew the black mist, and the venue brightened once more as she led Hua Suihe onto the stage.

“Hua Hua will stand in the escort spot. I’ll be the one to cut her head off.”

Hua Suihe tugged at her sleeve, reminding her, “It’s not actually cutting her head off. It’s a magic trick.”

“I know, Hua Hua. I’ll be careful.”

Honey watched as Ye Susheng walked up to her and declared she would be the one wielding the blade. For a moment, she fell silent.

She emphasized the point again, feeling uneasy. “This is a magic trick.”

Ye Susheng was somewhat impatient. “I know that.”

Honey looked toward Hua Suihe, who was standing not far away, with a look of hesitation. When their eyes met, Hua Suihe gave her a friendly nod, leaving Honey in a stunned silence.

Now, wasn’t she the one who had to be terrified? This magic trick wasn’t fun at all anymore.

But this was her job. Having proposed the trick, she had to see it through. She could only resign herself to fate and step onto the guillotine.

“Come on. You just need to swing the blade. Don’t be afraid.”

In reality, as she uttered those words in a high-pitched, dramatic tone, her head had already separated from her body, falling into a transparent glass box.

Ye Susheng lifted Honey’s hat, pulled out a palm-sized storybook, then replaced the hat and turned to walk back to Hua Suihe.

The magic show continued, but none of that had anything to do with Ye Susheng anymore.

Honey hadn’t sensed any killing intent and realized that Ye Susheng truly had no intention of harming her. She quickly adjusted her mindset and finished the rest of the performance, drawing a forced round of applause from the audience.

Hua Suihe didn’t know what happened next.

This was because Ye Susheng had already taken her and the storybook out of the magic venue.

Ye Susheng used a disinfectant wipe to clean the storybook thoroughly before handing it to Hua Suihe to read.

Sitting in a cafe by the window with their orders, Hua Suihe flipped open the small storybook.

Honey didn’t have a surname, nor was she a young lady from some prestigious family. She was a magician by trade. By chance, she had performed for a wealthy family, only for her identity to be stolen during the performance.

That wealthy man had arranged for someone to replace her, then imprisoned her. No one cared whether she lived or died. After she breathed her last, her remains were never buried; they were left to rot in a sewer.

The old magician Honey had loved magician’s costumes, always dressing herself up exquisitely.

The current Honey wore heavy clown makeup every day, but in reality, it was to hide scars that would never heal.
