Chapter 139

A few drops of salty seawater splashed onto Hua Suihe’s face. She wiped them away with unhurried movements and turned to look at the man who had also fallen to the floor; he was currently struggling to crawl toward the Control Cabin.

Unfortunately, the seawater was pouring in too fast, and the control screens were quickly submerged.

Hua Suihe couldn’t help but remark, “Some ‘path to life’ this turned out to be.”

The giant Sea Monster coiled around the Life Pod and shook it relentlessly, like someone shaking a cup of milk tea, seemingly determined to mix the organisms inside into a smooth consistency.

Once it felt the job was done, it stuffed the entire sphere into its mouth in one go.

The high-tech materials that humanity took such pride in were worthless beneath the creature’s teeth. It crunched down on the pod like it was eating crackers, and within moments, the Life Pod was completely deformed.

The two humans inside had already lost the ability to struggle during the monster’s violent shaking. Combined with the inability to breathe underwater, they had fully lost consciousness.

[AAAAAAAHHHH!!!]

[Look at that massive tooth! It’s going to impale Hua Hua’s head!]

[Life-Saving Talisman, activate! Life-Saving Talisman, activate! Life-Saving Talisman, Life-Saving Talisman!]

[First-person view of the chewing… Song Qi’s head was bitten off…]

[Black Cotton Candy is making a move! The teeth can’t bite through Hua Hua, but she can’t breathe underwater! Where is Ye Susheng? Calling Ye Susheng!]

The Black Cotton Candy directly snapped off the thrashing teeth and anxiously wrapped itself around Hua Hua. However, it was useless; it had no way to provide her with oxygen. The black mist spun around Hua Suihe in a panic, unable to sense the presence of its main body.

The monster froze for a long moment when its teeth were snapped off. It chewed a bit more before spitting out the tooth-breaking object in its mouth, its bulging, bulbous eyes staring at the Black Coal Ball in front of it.

Not being particularly bright, it swallowed the food in its mouth in one gulp and tentatively reached out a tentacle to touch the Black Coal Ball. When a section of its tentacle was instantly severed, it fled in terror.

The black mist quickly lifted Hua Suihe to the surface of the sea.

Hua Hua showed no signs of life. The black mist wept silently, and the surrounding waves fell still.

It pressed itself anxiously against Hua Hua’s chest, simulating CPR in an attempt to make her cough up the water and wake her up.

It was not the main body and did not possess the ability to teleport her. It could only wrap around Hua Hua and push her toward the Cruise Ship.

Halfway there, the Hua Suihe it was protecting vanished into thin air. The black mist hovered over the sea, dazed and helpless. Three seconds later, having lost its anchor, the black mist automatically refreshed and returned to its main body.

At this very moment, Ye Susheng had completely lost herself to a killing frenzy. In her mutated state, she had lost all reason, knowing only that she had to slaughter every one of the Replicas obstructing her within the Thriller Consciousness Space.

Her frantic actions were not stopped. The Thriller looked down from on high, watching the contest between Ye Susheng and Ye Susheng. Even though it was a one-sided massacre of the Replicas, the entity remained indifferent.

This scene was exactly what it desired. The heavier Ye Susheng’s murderous intent grew, the less likely she was to escape and the harder it would be for her to regain her sanity. Even if it couldn’t erase Ye Susheng, there was still one way left to control her.

It would let her turn completely into a mindless, unthinking monster.

As for that Hua Suihe-the Thriller had used the Dream Realm to terrorize her and instill suicidal ideation, hoping she would choose death to leave this place. It hadn’t expected her to die by human hands today instead. No matter; the result of death was the same. She should return to where she belonged; she wasn’t needed here.

When the black mist returned to the main body, it automatically transmitted the information it had gathered.

The image of Hua Hua losing her life signs surfaced in Ye Susheng’s mind. The sensation of that body floating on the sea had been even colder than her own, before it suddenly vanished while wrapped in the black mist…

Ye Susheng’s strength vanished instantly. The vapors manifested by the black mist in her hand dissipated like smoke. The impostor’s blade lunged forward, piercing through her heart.
Ye Susheng collapsed to the ground, her strength depleted. Viscous fluid stained her clothes and white hair, leaving her looking more wretched than a survivor crawling out of a mass grave. At this moment, she seemed to have lost her purpose, her fighting spirit completely extinguished. She simply let the impostors drive their lethal weapons into her body.

Thriller finally spoke. “What did you see? Her death?”

“You and she were never from the same world. You cannot keep her.”

“You have your own mission. As Thriller’s most perfect creation, what you should be doing is slaughtering, ruling, and changing the rules. You are the champion of the Thriller survival rules!”

Thriller had seen through it long ago: Ye Susheng coexisted with Thriller. Unless Thriller was completely eradicated, Ye Susheng could not die.

These Replicas were, in the end, merely Thriller’s useless creations. It was easy for Ye Susheng to kill them, but even if they ‘killed’ her, she would infinitely recover and heal. They could not take her life.

Seeing Ye Susheng now, devoid of any will to fight and lying there half-dead like a lamb to the slaughter, Thriller felt a sense of frustrated disappointment.

“She was never from the same world as you. You don’t have the power to keep her!”

“Hua Hua, Hua Hua, Hua Hua…” Ye Susheng was despondent, murmuring the name over and over. Her crimson eyes had lost their luster, as if the life had been drained from them.

The black mist automatically activated its protection mode, encircling Ye Susheng within its own small world.

“Hua Hua, hug me, it hurts… Hua Hua, it hurts so much…” Two trails of bloody tears streamed down from Ye Susheng’s eyes. She clawed at her own skin, leaving behind row after row of scratch marks. She was restless and frantic; the person who usually soothed her was no longer by her side.

“I want Hua Hua to hold me…” The red patterns beneath her skin became increasingly prominent. On her arms, her neck, and her face, the red lines crisscrossed like cracks, making her look like a tattered doll that could never be mended.

“Kill you… I’ll kill you…”

Ye Susheng repeated the words mechanically. She stood up from the ground with sluggish movements, her wounds already healed. Sensing the intense killing intent from its host, the black mist automatically condensed into her most familiar weapon: a scythe.

The black mist lashed out, binding all the impostors in the space and dragging them toward her. They were utterly unable to resist, possessing no room even to struggle. These impostors, who relied on the aura of Thriller within the consciousness space to grow stronger, were easily destroyed by Ye Susheng.

Thriller watched as she cleared out every single impostor it had spent so long creating. For a moment, it was at a loss for words. Replicas weren’t exactly easy to make, you know?

However, Ye Susheng had completely fallen into a demonic frenzy, which was… arguably part of the plan.

Only Ye Susheng could become the manifestation of the Thriller Will. When that time came, it would have a vessel to descend upon the human world.

Ye Susheng was now the only one left in the Thriller Consciousness Space, and the Thriller Consciousness fell silent.

The scythe slashed through the void, tearing open an exit from the space.

“Kill you… I’ll kill you…”

Ye Susheng vanished through the spatial rift, but her demonic whispers continued to echo through the void.

At this moment, Thriller had no idea what was about to happen. It was busy gloating, imagining the maddened Ye Susheng slaughtering more humans, accelerating the spread of the Horror Zone, and seizing human territory.

Meanwhile, the supposedly dead Hua Suihe suddenly snapped her eyes open.

She shivered involuntarily. The sensation of seawater enveloping her body lingered, and she rubbed her arms a few times, trying to banish the memory of drowning.

With the Life-Saving Talisman, she naturally wouldn’t die, but she had indeed lost a life in the dungeon.

Other players could use points to buy a revival card from the shop, and while she didn’t have access to the points shop, the Life-Saving Talisman served the same purpose.

As the dungeon ended, the Life-Saving Talisman took effect. While restoring her life, it also teleported her out of the dungeon and back to her home.
