Chapter 152

Hua Suihe was not an impulsive person either. Looking into Ye Susheng’s pleading eyes, she couldn’t bring herself to refuse.

Fine, then. She had only been worried that waiting for the contamination to spread would take too much time, which was why she had wanted to go and check the situation herself first. But doing that really had been a lapse in judgment on her part.

Without any livestream props, she couldn’t guarantee her own safety. Ye Susheng’s concern was perfectly normal.

Once she had thought it through, Hua Suihe said, “Then I’ll go with you.”

As long as they turned that place into a Polluted Zone first, everything else would naturally fall into place.

Ye Susheng knew how random Thriller Contamination could be, and she didn’t know how to make Thriller descend on a precise location. She needed to enter the Thriller Consciousness Space and speak with it.

Hua Hua was human. She couldn’t bring Hua Hua into that place.

Ye Susheng didn’t feel at ease leaving Hua Suihe alone. She used black mist to seal off every corner of the house, blocking every gap so tightly that nothing could slip through, yet still felt it wasn’t enough. But since she had no choice but to separate from Hua Hua, she reminded her again and again, “Hua Hua, wait for me at home for a little while. I’ll be back very soon.”

Seeing her tense, grave expression, Hua Suihe’s eyes curved as she laughed to herself. She cupped Ye Susheng’s face in both hands and pecked her on the lips, comforting her. “Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. It’ll be fine. At worst, we’ll just start over from the beginning.”

Ye Susheng looked somewhat confused and murmured, carefully chewing over the words, “Start over from the beginning?”

Hua Suihe was unwilling to say more. “Go on, go on. I’ll wait for you at home.”

Then she sat down on the sofa on her own and stuffed a throw pillow into her arms, making it clear that she would not run around. “I’ll sit right here and wait for you. I won’t go anywhere.”

Ye Susheng pressed down the confusion in her heart, and her gaze grew firm. No matter how she listened to those four words, they made her uncomfortable. They definitely weren’t some kind of fallback plan she wanted to hear about. She didn’t need to start over from the beginning.

Tearing open a rift in space, she stepped into the void of the Thriller Consciousness Space.

In the pitch-black space, there was nothing at all-only Ye Susheng’s lone figure standing there.

After waiting for quite a while without hearing a sound, Ye Susheng grew impatient. “Stop playing dead.”

At last, that utterly emotionless voice rang out, its words echoing through the void. “You’re here. Now that your wife didn’t die, you think you’re capable again?”

With that snide remark, Thriller reminded her that the last time they had met here, things had ended very unpleasantly between them. And now she still dared to come looking for it of her own accord?

Ye Susheng had already been maintaining her Anomalization state to begin with. Now that she was in the Thriller Consciousness Space, an unseen force tugged at the emotions in her heart, drawing out her murderous nature in an attempt to destroy her reason.

Ye Susheng’s pupil-less red eyes looked like those of a beast gone mad. But her movements were sluggish, and she stood in place without doing anything. Her tone was calm, as though she did not want to be affected. “How do I bring Thriller Contamination to a designated area?”

“You came here for that?” Thriller couldn’t understand. As it fell silent, it quietly observed Ye Susheng’s condition.

“Didn’t you want to kill me? Why do you suddenly want to help me?”

“Oh, you’re not helping me. Then why do you want a human area to fall?”

“Aren’t you afraid that if I grow a little stronger, I’ll completely and utterly take control of you and become you?”

Thriller’s voice lingered beside Ye Susheng’s ear like a demon’s whisper. “Stop forcing yourself. Your reason has already collapsed. You’re truly arrogant, aren’t you? Have you forgotten that you were my creation to begin with?”

The more silent Ye Susheng was, the more pleased Thriller became. “Didn’t you ask me how to contaminate a designated area? It’s very simple.”

“Wherever my will exists, Thriller will inevitably descend.”
“Let me become you.”

Barely half an hour had passed before Hua Suihe began to grow restless. She had no idea how long Ye Susheng needed to be gone on her own, or whether she might run into danger.

Hua Suihe was worried about Ye Susheng’s condition. Ye Susheng was currently maintaining her Anomalization form, and Hua Suihe did not know if she would be all right by herself.

She paced back and forth through the room. Through the window, she watched the bright sky outside turn to dusk. It would not be long before night fell.

Ye Zi still had not come back.

Hua Suihe walked to the window and pinched off a tuft of Little Black Cotton, kneading it in her hand. But separated from the main body, the black mist had lost its lively quality. Even when Hua Hua held it in her palm, it no longer frantically sucked at her fingertips.

Now that she was not inside a dungeon, she could not use the reward items from the livestream. Her current livestream level was maxed at level ten, so she could pull up her personal backend page to check hidden functions and her remaining points.

The companion Teleport Function she had unlocked last time was in a state where teleportation was unavailable, so she could not use it to get to Ye Susheng’s side.

Hua Suihe forced herself to think about something else and made herself a simple dinner, but the food tasted like nothing.

She endured until night. Lying in bed, she tossed and turned, unable to sleep. After a sleepless night, as dawn began to brighten the east, Hua Suihe lay with her eyes open, calmly staring at the white ceiling.

Ye Susheng would never take the initiative to leave her for this long. Something must have happened.

Hua Suihe sat up in bed and began silently getting ready. Once she was fully dressed, she walked to the door.

Black Cotton had blocked the front door completely, preventing Hua Suihe from leaving. It even actively pushed Hua Suihe back inside, firmly carrying out the task its main body had left behind.

They could not let Hua Hua go out.

Hua Suihe tried to reason with them. “I need to find a dungeon.”

Right now, this instant, she wanted to contact Gu Gu. She urgently needed real-world means to bring Ye Susheng back.

Ye Susheng had not been in a good state lately. She was like a little dummy. Maybe she simply could not find her way home.

But the Black Cotton Candy could not receive Hua Suihe’s commands. They blocked the door and the handle, not even giving Hua Suihe a chance to open it.

“Be good and listen, okay? Any dungeon will do. We’ll just find one nearby, anything at all. It’ll be quick.”

The black mist did not budge.

As the standoff dragged on, Hua Suihe grew more and more agitated. Like an ant on a hot pan, she paced around the room, as though trying to figure out how she could leave.

The black mist sensed that she was upset. A few wisps drifted over and rubbed against Hua Suihe’s neck, just as Hua Hua would pinch Ye Susheng’s neck to soothe her.

Just as Hua Suihe was about to forcibly pull the black mist stuck to the handle away, a mechanical System voice suddenly sounded in her mind.

[Opening dungeon “Church of the Believers.” Player teleport loading…]

A dungeon had chosen her? It did not matter what church it was. As long as it was a dungeon, that was enough.

Hua Suihe removed the black mist wrapped around her neck and coiled it around her wrist, loop after loop.

“Listen to me. I’m leaving. Stay close to me.”

Perhaps due to the obstruction from the black mist, this dungeon teleportation was not as swift as usual. Even so, Hua Suihe’s figure still gradually turned transparent.

The black mist keeping watch over the house sensed something was wrong and hurled themselves madly at Hua Suihe. They could not keep her there, but fortunately, they pounced in time. Along with Hua Suihe, they were teleported into the dungeon.

The so-called Church of the Believers was the “World Eye” suspended in midair.
