Chapter 92

Three Anomalies stealthily escorted Hua Suihe toward the area where the players were gathered. They didn’t encounter any players along the way, only a thick, cloying scent of blood.

Hua Suihe felt a sticky sensation beneath her feet, like stepping on gum, but the light was so dim that she could see nothing but pitch-black darkness when she looked down.

Long Tongue bent down, its tongue trailing along the ground to lick the path. It was covered in fresh blood. “Which God of Slaughter is this? They didn’t leave anything for us.”

“The players we marked… they weren’t all wiped out in one go, were they?”

“Huh? Is our performance quota gone again?”

“Believer, can you walk a bit faster? We’re in a bit of a hurry.”

Hua Suihe was already walking briskly, nearly at a jog. Despite the chilly environment, she was starting to feel the heat, yet the entities before her showed no signs of fatigue.

If she remembered correctly, they had already traveled a long distance and still hadn’t reached the location they mentioned. This haunted house was simply too massive.

“It’s been so long, and the players are looking for the exit. They might not be at the spot you marked anymore.”

Twin Braids slammed on the brakes and stopped in her tracks. Her nostrils flared as her eyes lit up. “I smell them. They’re walking this way.”

“Believer, it’s time for your performance. Go join them.”

After giving Hua Suihe a word of encouragement, the three Anomalies immediately pressed themselves against the wall to hide. They shifted their forms, merging seamlessly into the masonry.

When Hua Suihe looked back, they were already gone.

After a moment’s hesitation, Hua Suihe walked forward along the path to meet the players ahead.

“Where is she? Is she still chasing us?”

“It’s over… she’s gone on a killing spree…”

“Is there even a point in trying to last fifteen days in this dungeon?”

“Run! Keep running until you can’t run anymore!”

“Three hours… we just need to hold out for three more hours.”

As Hua Suihe drew closer, she heard them muttering these words in terrified tones.

They happened to be running right toward her. Charging blindly ahead, they nearly collided with her. Fortunately, Hua Suihe dodged to the side quickly enough to avoid the impact.

“Hey, you guys-”

The three people didn’t even bother to stop or acknowledge her. “Get out of the way! Run!”

They rushed past Hua Suihe, heading straight for the spot where the three Anomalies were lying in ambush.

In the darkness, the sound of the trio’s heavy, ragged panting vanished instantly.

Hua Suihe wanted to go forward to check on the situation, but just as she stepped out, the icy blade of a scythe came to rest against her throat. In an instant, the lethal weapon meant for harvesting heads dissolved into wisps of black cotton that brushed against her skin.

Before Hua Suihe could react, a damp, cold sensation pressed against her back, making her entire body shudder.

“Hua Hua… Hua Hua~”

Ye Susheng had completely abandoned the few stragglers that had escaped the net, pressing herself against Hua Suihe’s back, intoxicated by her scent.

“Hua Hua smells so good. Hua Hua, Hua Hua~”

Hua Suihe placed her hand on the arm wrapped around her waist, trying to get her to loosen her grip, but the person behind her only held on tighter. Helpless, she could only speak up to remind her, “Ye Zi, relax a little.”

Ye Susheng didn’t seem to hear her. Not only did her grip not loosen, but a slick, slimy sensation trailed across Hua Suihe’s neck. The tongue was as cold as ice, sending a wave of goosebumps across her skin.

Hua Suihe tucked her chin, but she couldn’t escape the assault. “Ye Susheng, don’t…”

Ye Susheng took the soft flesh of the back of her neck into her mouth like a giant suction cup, sucking frantically at that patch of skin.

“Hua Hua is sweet… Hua Hua smells so good… I want to eat Hua Hua… I want to eat…”

Hua Suihe didn’t know how to describe her feelings. According to the proportions of a normal human mouth, it should have been impossible to envelop the back of her neck in one go. Ye Susheng didn’t usually open her mouth that wide around her. She wondered what was wrong today-and why her body temperature was so low.
Hua Suihe reached behind her to push the other’s head away. “Stop it. Let go.”

Ye Susheng didn’t bare her teeth; she simply kept Hua Suihe’s neck enveloped in her mouth, her tongue busy and restless.

Feeling the nudge against her head, she loosened her hold slightly.

“Hua Hua, Hua Hua, Hua Hua… I missed you so much, Hua Hua…”

“Hua Hua, I don’t want to work. I just want to be with Hua Hua, waah…”

Just as the whimpering sobs began, she opened her mouth again to clasp the back of Hua Suihe’s neck. Warm tears fell onto Hua Suihe’s skin, their heat a sharp contrast to the temperature of Ye Susheng’s body.

“Don’t cry, don’t cry. If you missed me, let me give you a hug.” Currently, Hua Suihe could only reach back to stroke the other’s head. Holding her arms in such a position made them ache with fatigue after only a short while; she wanted to face her and hug her properly.

“No, I’m ugly. I don’t want Hua Hua to see. Waah, Hua Hua…”

“Don’t hate me. I’m not ugly, waah…”

Hua Suihe didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at her nonsensical rambling. “Alright, alright. How could I ever hate you? You’re acting very strange today. I want a real hug. If you don’t let me hold you, I’m going to get angry.”

Ye Susheng sniffled and fell silent for a moment, seemingly considering Hua Suihe’s words.

“I’m not ugly…” Ye Susheng was still fixated on her appearance. “Hua Hua, I’m not ugly. It’ll scare you.”

Hua Suihe pursed her lips to suppress a smile, but the vibration of her chest betrayed her amusement. Always patient, she continued to coax her with a hint of a smile in her voice. “That’s right. If you’re not ugly, how could you scare me?”

Ye Susheng remained hesitant and bashful, but the strength with which she held Hua Suihe relaxed slightly. Seizing the opportunity, Hua Suihe turned around to face her. Under that close-range gaze, Ye Susheng had nowhere to hide.

Looking at Hua Suihe with tear-filled eyes, she said aggrievedly, “It’s not my fault. It’s work’s fault.”

This haunted house had been specifically reinforced by Thriller, targeting all the Anomalies within with enhanced mental catalysis.

This catalysis would draw out an Anomaly’s bloodthirsty nature, preventing them from maintaining human form and forcing them to exist in an anomalized state.

Ye Susheng had been born for slaughter from the very beginning. Once anomalized, it was difficult for her to remain calm; only the scent of fresh blood could satisfy her killing intent.

Since Thriller’s rules had no effect on Ye Susheng, it sought other ways to control her, and mental catalysis was one such method.

Hua Suihe cupped the girl’s face in her hands. Crisscrossing red bloodstains marked Ye Susheng’s delicate skin, looking startling and macabre. Her eyes were flooded with red, the whites no longer visible.

Those intersecting bloodstains spread downward-on her neck, her arms, and even her legs beneath her short skirt.

Hua Suihe touched them cautiously, but she didn’t feel the texture of scars. There were no ridges; the skin was perfectly smooth, as if the marks were hidden beneath the surface.

However, the texture of Ye Susheng’s skin didn’t feel human. There were no skin pores or grain; it was slipperier than a fish in water.

Seeing Hua Suihe remain silent for so long, Ye Susheng’s tears began to fall uncontrollably again-genuine streaks of bloody tears.

Damn Thriller, making her ugly so Hua Hua would despise her. What a malicious tactic. One day, she was definitely going to quit this shitty job.

Hua Suihe wiped away the tears, then rested her thumbs at the corners of Ye Susheng’s mouth. “Sweetie, open your mouth for a second. I’m a bit curious how your mouth managed to open so wide.”
