Chapter 95

Hua Suihe, sympathetic to Ye Susheng’s exhaustion from work, comforted her softly, “Then take a break for a while. You’ve worked hard, Ye Zi’s wife.”

Ye Susheng put the hairdryer away and returned to stand behind Hua Suihe. However, her mind was no longer on the hair; her fingers trailed along Hua Suihe’s collarbone, her tone lingering and suggestive. “Does Hua Hua feel bad for me?”

[Here it comes, here it comes! She’s making her move!]

[The shower’s done and the screen already went black once. Does this mean we have viewing rights this time?]

[I bet Ye Susheng wants Hua Hua to reward her with some love.]

[I approve. You two may begin.]

However, the excited fans were met with a calm streamer, and their wishes were destined to go unfulfilled.

There was only an encouraging goodnight kiss; no steamy scenes followed.

Ye Susheng was only thinking about how to collect the interest on her day off.

***

Time progressed to the tenth day of recording, with only thirty trainees remaining.

Today, they returned to the performance stage once more. All trainees were in the waiting room drawing lots for their performance order.

This time it was a solo performance with no teams. The ten rooms were divided into three batches.

The performance format didn’t involve acting out a script based on a character persona. Today was a bit special; the theme was a conversation called “Truth Reversal.”

A staff member would be in the room, and for five minutes, they would ask the trainee questions. The trainee had to answer based on their actual situation, but they had to lie to deny the truth and make the staff member believe them.

If the staff member saw through the lie, it would be considered a failure, resulting in elimination.

Hua Suihe was assigned to Room 6 in the first batch.

She entered Room 6 to wait. The performances weren’t happening simultaneously; Room 1 was currently preparing to start.

There was a screen in the room broadcasting the performances of others.

Hua Suihe looked out through the glass wall. Behind the camera pointed at her was a large audience. Many in the front rows looked familiar-they were trainees who had already been eliminated.

They had all stayed behind to serve as the audience.

“Question: During the recording of this program, you established a persona as a single male idol. However, netizens have leaked information claiming that you are currently dating several women outside the industry. So, are you single, or are you a serial cheater?”

The questioning had begun. The questions were incredibly sharp. Hua Suihe’s teeth felt a bit itchy; she suddenly wanted some melon seeds to snack on while watching the drama.

This person was named Huan Li. He had a fetish for group sex, but he didn’t like finding partners within the same industry, feeling they were “unclean.” Instead, he dated people one by one, brainwashing them after they got together so his partners would accept his behavior. Those who didn’t accept it were dumped; those who did played along together.

Yes, for the thrill of it, he dated both men and women, so asking only about “girlfriends” wasn’t entirely accurate.

“I appreciate the netizens’ concern. I am currently single. If I am fortunate enough to debut, I will prioritize my career.”

His words were a roundabout way of admitting he was a serial cheater, drawing a wave of sighs from the netizens watching the livestream.

However, the netizens’ disdain came a moment too early.

“Question: When satisfying your physical needs, do you invite several people to join you?”

Huan Li’s expression stiffened slightly. If this question followed the previous one, wouldn’t all his unspeakable secrets be exposed?

The staff member’s expression turned subtle, repeating with a smile: “Do you invite several people to join you?”

“Of course not!” Huan Li retorted sharply. He kept his facial expressions to a minimum, trying his best to appear calm and composed, but he never dared to meet the staff member’s eyes.

The staff member let out a satisfied smile. “You’re lying~”

As soon as those words were spoken, the screen in the room went black, replaced by two large, red characters: ELIMINATED.

From the audience’s perspective, they could see directly into the room through the transparent glass wall. The staff member transformed into a monster, its long fangs piercing Huan Li’s neck as blood splattered everywhere.

The audience witnessing this showed no reaction, like NPCs following a script, mindlessly waving their glow sticks and cheering.

A minute later, the broadcast for Room 2 began.

Hua Suihe saw Ye Susheng arrive. Ye Susheng was carrying snacks and drinks, which she placed on the coffee table. “Hua Hua, Hua Hua, have some snacks~”

They really were on the same wavelength.

Hua Suihe opened a bag of melon seeds and poked a straw into her drink. Now her mouth wouldn’t be idle.
Seeing Ye Susheng sitting beside her without any intention of leaving, Hua Suihe asked casually, “Ye Zi, so you’re the staff member assigned to interview me?”

Ye Susheng nodded cheerfully. “That’s right, that’s right!”

“I threw away the list of questions they compiled. They were terrible, so I’m coming up with my own.”

Hua Suihe was a bit curious. “What kind of questions?”

“One was to ask whether you love me or Xia Moyi,” Ye Susheng said with a look of displeasure. The ship between Xia Moyi and Hua Hua had been trending recently, and that ugly freak of a staffer actually dared to write such a question. This segment’s theme was to tell lies; they actually wanted Hua Hua to say she didn’t love her with her own mouth.

That malicious ugly freak should go back to the drawing board and reflect on what they did wrong.

“Wow, that’s a great question.” Hua Suihe immediately grasped the potential for engagement. She actually approved of the staffer’s professional ability; that kind of question was perfect for generating traffic.

“Hua Hua.” Ye Susheng stared at her with resentful red eyes, sounding unhappy. “Do you really want to say that you don’t love me? I don’t want to hear that at all.”

Hua Suihe had a mischievous glint in her eyes, but she didn’t want to push her too far. Reassuring words tumbled out of her mouth. “Alright, alright, I won’t say it. Even if I get eliminated, I won’t say something so against my heart.”

Ye Susheng’s lips remained tightly pursed, clearly not satisfied with just one sentence.

But Hua Hua was already busy cracking melon seeds and enjoying the drama on screen.

*Fine,* Ye Susheng thought. *I’ll just have to coax myself and get over it.*

She tore open a bag of beef jerky and started chewing, focusing on the food. She had no interest in the scandals of the strangers on the screen.

For this theme, as long as one kept their composure while lying, they basically wouldn’t be eliminated. The purpose of this segment was to increase the show’s discussion rate; the trainees’ individual popularity would also skyrocket after this episode.

In this situation, the more controversial a person was, the more of an advantage they had. Those with explosive scandals would see their popularity soar, while it was less friendly to those who lacked talking points.

However, the others were clever too. While telling lies, they started rumors about themselves, making up ridiculous stories.

After the first few participants went through this process, their personal topic rankings doubled in a few minutes and were still rising.

Soon, it was Hua Suihe’s turn. The image of her leisurely eating snacks on the sofa was broadcast, clashing completely with the vibe of the previous contestants.

Seeing this, Ye Susheng began to clear the mess on the table. “Wait a second, Hua Hua. Let’s clean up before we start. Five minutes is enough.”

Once everything was tidy, Ye Susheng pressed a drink into Hua Suihe’s hand. “Your throat must be dry, Hua Hua. Have some water.”

Hua Suihe held the cup with both hands, indicating she was ready. “Mm-hmm, go ahead and ask.”

“Question: Have you ever, even for a single moment, been afraid of me or felt terror toward me?”

Since she didn’t want to hear a lie about not being loved, she chose this. Just one question.

In the haunted house… whether it was her appearance or the blood on her body, had Hua Hua ever felt a flicker of fear? Even for just an instant?

Hua Suihe tilted her head in thought for a moment, then organized her words. “I am very, very afraid of you. The feeling of terror is lingering; it’s there every second, every moment.”

“Hua Hua, waaaaah! Hua Hua, don’t be afraid of me, please don’t be afraid of me…” Ye Susheng’s composure shattered instantly. Tears fell without warning as she began to wail.

Hua Suihe’s brain stalled for a second. She reached out frantically to cup Ye Susheng’s face, but before she could offer any comfort, she was pulled into a tight embrace.

“Waaaah… don’t be afraid of me, you’re not allowed to be afraid of me…”

Hua Suihe didn’t push her away, leaning her face against Ye Susheng’s. “Sweetie, I was telling a lie~”

[Bro, is this still Ye Susheng?]

[When you meet a natural-born talent, you can’t win no matter how hard you try.]

[With Peanut and Ye Susheng tied together, they were destined to be the kings of traffic.]

[I just want to know, if Peanut’s popularity was at the bottom, would she really be eliminated?]

[Ye Susheng: I’m the financial backer and the flower’s guardian.]

[She’s at the top of the New Player Leaderboard by a landslide with zero losses. You think she’s joking?]

[Peanut’s individual popularity is several digits higher than the person in second place. It reminds me of a saying: If you can see my taillights, you win.]
