Chapter 3

Si Qing dragged Tang Xi away to get a late-night snack downstairs.

I went back to the bedroom and sat down beside the dark-skinned boy who was still battling with his zipper.

“Should I… eat them?”

Only then did I snap back to myself and look at Momo.

“Are you hungry?”

He still didn’t seem used to the human language system, so his words came out haltingly.

“Not hungry. Desire… can fill me up.”

I was a little confused. “Then why would you eat them?”

If two living, breathing people vanished from my home out of nowhere, I might be taken in for questioning tomorrow.

“Their words… were ugly. Made you… angry.”

What he didn’t say was this:

If Satan hadn’t specifically instructed him that a puppy needed its master’s permission before taking action…

He might have already charged out just now.

After all, guarding was a Hellhound’s highest calling.

Whether it was the Gates of Hell or the fragile human before him.

Anything that came to offend them could simply be eaten.

Right. Speaking of eating…

The boy rose and bent down, the tip of his sharp nose gently touching my forehead.

The skin where we touched immediately gave off a faint glow.

He was devouring my negative emotions.

I gradually relaxed, almost greedily savoring a rare peace I had hardly ever known in my life.

Until the sound of buttons bursting apart rang out.

When I saw what had appeared in front of me, my face went scarlet in an instant.

Screaming, I bolted out the door.

Only the boy remained, staring blankly at his exploded pants and frowning.

“…The size is too small.”

Chapter 6

I went to a nearby mall and bought several sets of new clothes.

When I got home, Tang Xi’s car was parked downstairs.

She rolled down the window and said flippantly, “I’m going out with my boyfriend for a while. Si Qing can stay with you for a few days.”

The old building had fallen into disrepair over the years.

Tang Xi usually lived in the small apartment my parents had left her as an extra property, and she rarely came back.

Every now and then, she would take Si Qing over to stay with her for a few days. Once he got dirty or smelly, or once she simply got tired of him, she would send him back again.

I didn’t want to, so I refused outright.

“He’s your beastman, not mine.”

Tang Xi gave a soft snort. “It’s just a few days. Why are you being so petty?”

Just like Mom and Dad.

Whenever they wanted to take advantage of someone, they told that person not to be petty.

I turned and walked away.

But Tang Xi panicked. She got out of the car and grabbed me.

“Fine, fine. I’ll pay you a boarding fee, okay?”

Normally, she wouldn’t have paid a single cent.

But this time was different.

Her new boyfriend was an absolute dream, and she had to seize the chance.

Si Qing was very possessive of her.

With him around, it would be inconvenient for her to do anything with her boyfriend.

Tang Xi transferred half a month’s salary to me.

I glanced at it casually and lowered my eyes. “Not enough.”

“Not enough?”

“He’s so skinny. How much could he possibly eat?”

Seeing that I said nothing, Tang Xi gritted her teeth and transferred another half month’s salary.

“If you ever want to pet Si Qing in the future, I’ll charge you too!”

“I won’t.”

I wouldn’t want to pet him.

I tapped to accept the payment.

The amount was just enough to buy Momo a new bed.

The one Si Qing slept in was still too small for a one-point-nine-meter Hellhound.

Expressionless, I turned around and waved my phone.

“This is only enough to board him for seven days.”

“If you don’t pick him up when the time is up, I’ll throw him out.”

Behind me, Tang Xi crossed her arms and gave a disdainful snort.

“Then throw him out. I don’t believe you’d be able to bring yourself to do it.”
