Chapter 1

The moment my eyes opened, I had been reborn again.

“Changhuan, between the Crown Prince and the Third Prince, which one do you want to marry?”

Fate’s great choice had begun all over again.

This was already the fourth time I had heard my Chancellor father ask me which one I wanted to marry.

His Majesty had betrothed both his Crown Prince and the Third Prince to the daughters of the Chancellor.

There were only two daughters in my family. I was the legitimate daughter, Li Changhuan. My elder sister was the concubine-born daughter, Li Changying.

In every lifetime, my parents let me choose first.

In my first life, I was rather naive and chose the Crown Prince. Who would have thought the Third Prince would later become emperor? The Crown Prince’s rebellion failed, and he dragged me along to burn ourselves alive.

In my second life, I corrected my mistake and chose the Third Prince. Who would have thought the Crown Prince would ascend the throne without a hitch? The Third Prince was placed under house arrest, and he and I drank poisoned wine together.

In my third life, I admit there was a bit of gambling involved.

I kept one foot in the Crown Prince’s boat and the other in the Third Prince’s.

Never in my wildest dreams did I expect that I would end up pushing my sister into becoming the Empress Regnant.

When the Crown Prince discovered I was a cheating scumbag, he dragged me and the Third Prince into suicide with him again.

I had made so many choices, yet no matter what, I could not live this life well.

At last, I realized one truth-

Whoever my sister chose would ascend the throne.

If my sister chose no one, she would become emperor herself.

My sister was the absolute female lead!

So this time, I bravely declared, “I am willing to marry my sister, even if it’s as a concubine!”

My father was utterly baffled. “What kind of insanity is this?”

My sister, Li Changying, the very picture of a frail little white lotus, was standing primly beside me.

I immediately snatched up the two imperial edicts. “Sister, you do it. You pick first.”

She looked toward our parents, clearly uneasy.

My father sighed helplessly and said to let her choose first. Whatever was left would be mine.

My sister had always been good at reading the room. She forced a smile. “Then… the Third Prince.”

My mother wore an expression that said, At least you know your place.

I thought about it. “That’s fine too. Though he is a concubine-born son and somewhat unworthy, the Third Prince is beautiful enough. He’ll do as a bedwarmer for my sister.”

My father looked horrified. “That represents your personal opinion only. It has nothing to do with anyone else in this entire household.”

My mother nearly choked to death on her tea.

But I wasn’t done yet.

I tossed the Crown Prince’s imperial edict onto the floor.

My father immediately picked it up, hugged it to his chest, and looked at me warily.

I beckoned and called for the servants to come in.

“Someone, give all my dowry to my sister. Then, on my sister’s dowry list, add my name!”

My mother said in disbelief, “You… What exactly are you trying to do?”

My sister also froze where she stood. “You want to marry the same man as me?”

Oh no. She had misunderstood.

“Sister, broaden your horizons. I’m just trying to compete for the position of your dowry maid.”

Li Changying’s lovely eyes were filled with confusion.

I pointed to the heavens and swore, “From this day on, I am my sister’s dog!”

Then I leaned close to my sister’s ear, raised a hand to shield my mouth, and whispered, “Also, if there’s anyone in the household you can’t stand, just tell me. I’ll have them all sold off.”

My mother smashed her teacup. “Since when does a concubine-born daughter get a legitimate daughter as part of her dowry?”

I hurriedly shielded my sister with my body, afraid the shards two yards away might hurt her.

My mother doted on me, but she did not like my sister.

Because my sister had been born to a mistress kept outside the household.

When my father brought her home, my mother was so furious she fell ill for three days.

Unfortunately, after we grew up, my sister turned out prettier than me.

My mother concluded that the mistress who had died young must have been prettier than her too, which made her even more unhappy.

I immediately dropped to my knees.

“Mother, I’m begging you. Just let me stay by my sister’s side. Otherwise…”

I looked left and right, then crawled over and hugged a pillar.

“Otherwise I’ll smash my head right here and die. Do what you will.”

My mother shot to her feet in anger. In the end, she slammed down the final verdict.

“Then neither of you will marry. You can both rot at home for all I care.”

My father had always been henpecked, yet he actually dared to say no.

He said my sister could still marry if she wanted. As for me, since I had gone mad, that was that.

I quietly walked behind my parents, raised both hands over my head, and made a heart at my sister.

One had to know, at my peak, I had managed to flirt with both the Crown Prince and the Third Prince at the same time.

I refused to believe I couldn’t handle this woman.

My sister hesitated for a long while, then frowned slightly.

“Forget it. Then I won’t marry either, lest I aggravate my younger sister’s condition.”

I blew her a flying kiss on the spot.

Li Changying froze for a moment, then lifted her skirts, turned, and ran.
